I am glad I was sleeved! I went in June 15th 2015 for my consult and wanted bypass. But my surgeon said sleeve would be best for me. I'm glad because my mom had bypass when they first started doing them and she has had nothing but problems with needing more surgeries. Plus I didn't really want my intestines re routed. So, anyways I had tests to do and I got surgery set for June 14th 2016 almost one yr to the day I had my first consult. I better get off this is getting lengthy. Take care! Oh and definitely get a second opinion. Out of those weight loss surgeries I feel the sleeve is the best option. Sent from my Z959 using the BariatricPal App

Awesome!!!! You look great, and must be feeling so much better! Congrats on your success! I'm 6 weeks post op from sleeve surgery. Started at 388lbs. Down 38lbs so far. I've got some major struggles with being nauseous all the time, but hope it will work itself out. Can't wait to be where you are now. Continued success to us both

Lol! The show is good to a point, what scared me before having surgery was what if the doctor says I gained so much weight and he couldn't do the surgery. Some surgeons can be very ugly to patients. But that wasn't the case I had my pre op appointment a week before June 14th 2016. Anyways, keep watching the show, you will start changing your habits. I know I did. Sent from my Z959 using the BariatricPal App

I used to watch that show before I had sleeve gastrectomy surgery. It made me cry because I was turning into what I feared the most... Being a huge person with a food addiction! But after I was sleeved 6/14/16, I don't watch that show. I have lost at total of 72 pounds. I was 300, today I am 228.

End of day 3 post op, still hard but much better, got off pain meds, made me want to vomit just looking at bottle. Had my niece put it away so I can't see it. The medicine for Nausea and vomiting is sickening sweet. Trying to put in my mouth with Protein shake crushed ice mix. Increased Water a lot but still no where near 64 ounces, Protein Shake maybe 6 ounces today. Thinking about getting IV to catch up on fluids.

Hey, my name is Stephanie! I was sleeved June 14th 2016 and went from 300 lbs to 228 lbs as of today!! I have a long road to go to get to 135 lbs. But I'm glad I got this surgery. After the surgery I was put in a hospital room over night. Immediately I was off my diabetic medication. I was on my BP med for a couple weeks, but my blood pressure was getting back to normal. I was off almost all the meds I needed for medical reasons. My blood sugars are 80 in the morning and in the 80's before bed. I'm in great health. My sleep apnea has improved. I had to have the pressure dropped from 12cm to 5cm. Atm I am slacking on exercises. I will be walking in the house more because it's raining here. Anyways here are some pics...
Purple shirt was at 300# and the tank top was at 230 something. I haven't taken a recent pic in a few days.

I have no Gerd he just thought I would lose more weight with the DS I'm at 60bmi.. Tonight I read on the 400 plus forum plenty people lost 200 and 300lbs with the sleeve. I read with the bypass there is more maintenance and post op doctor visits than the sleeve.
I'm petrified of having my stomach rerouted. Thank goddess for this forum and all you great people.

My surgeon recommended that if you wanted to lose more than 100 pounds, gastic bypass was the way to go. I was only interested in a restriction only type of surgery, nothing mal-absorptive, so I stuck with the sleeve.

I honestly do not know the answer to this but I agree you should have a second opinion and research this yourself. My husband and I went to WL seminars over fifteen years and were never willing to risk it until we heard about the sleeve at a wonderful similar. Less invasive was the main reason. We had an easy time in the hospital, 8 hours, barely any pain, no nausea, nothing. It was if did we really have surgery? My husband has had a wonderful easy experience losing over 100 lbs. (320 to217). Health is tremendously better. Sleeved at age 67, you need a medical expert to guide to convince you. Good luck!

Perhaps have a 2nd opinion. Just to see what another surgeon thinks. Do you have GERD? I have heard people with severe GERD don't usually get the sleeve but bypass instead (I think?)

I been so pumped starting my weight loss journey last week and finding this forum. I have to be honest watching that show got me depressed and I'm not the type of person that gets depressed. I'm doing something now before it gets worse. I love to hear about the success stories.

I don't blame the messenger actually, the message was one of concern. Something like I see he is involved again are you ok. Since their name wasn't their real name I don't know who it was.
I really do appreciate the support here. I don't have many friends and it does help just to get it out.

Is it any consolation that she's gutter quality on top of everything you described? A stranger sending you a message about something that touches on your private life? Another "social media" lowlife freak and deservedly insecure and jealous.
You're hurting, yes, but you're better than that. Better than either of them individually or together. Sophie, if you calm yourself long enough to look at things as an outsider, you'll know you don't want him.

Congratulations on your weight loss so far! We have very similar stats. I was sleeved 6/13/16 and was 286 the day of surgery. (I was 303 when starting the liquid diet before surgery.)
I'm at 249 now and that's lower than any adult weight I remember. You'll be there soon, too!
