Oh @@Happy13! I'm so sorry for your struggles, the throwing up must be unbearable. I only "gagged" a few times the first day and thought I was ripping my insides out! Two sneezes this morning HURT! I surely hope the worst is behind you! I've had so many surgeries that anesthesia wasn't even on my radar of concern. Your trials humble me and make my need to poop so inconsequential!

Walking? I can hardly get up to pee! My ribs on both sides feel like they been stretched outward from the inside! I'm sore which is making it hard to move. Weird. Wasn't expecting this. They don't seem to care if I walk yet.

I can hardly believe I am finally in the hospital all checked in. I'm so nervous- more so because I have no family with me and I feel very lonely right now. I live far from family and one of my friends was unable to be here with me. My other friend could not be here cuz she had to head back home to drive my boys back home, so I'm all alone????
On the bright side - I'm staying strong and waiting.

I just feel so silly trying sometimes and others hell I can't breathe with legs flipped and turned every where. Today he just went to bed cuz of the struggle lol but I'm just as fustrated as him!

Tomorrow I will be off to be sleeved and I am up with feeling all types of emotions, I think the fear is starting to kick in too, but I know that I chose this for the right reasons. I am having a 3 for 1 special - sleeve, Hiatal Hernia Repair, and gallbladder removal.
Any advice on getting over the jitters before surgery?

Thank you everyone for the great advice! I am going to have both done at the same time. If its more than what my pocket can handle I will just re- schedule my surgery for August. The kids are going back to school August 3rd and we all know the expense that comes with back to school for the kids.. I'm not going to toy arouind with my health. My babies need me.. I will add yall to my friends list and update yall once I find out next week how much more they are tagging on me. LOL..best wishes for all.

    Hi Qbanma81 -
I'm having my gallbladder and sleeve done at the same time. For me - they found two polyps in my gallbladder and the surgeon highly advised to have it removed. The coordinator also mentioned that many patients do have issues with their gallbladders once they go down 45 to 50 pounds - so I think it would be good to get it out now - I don't want to be put under twice for something I can do now. My surgery is coming up in 3 days, I'm nervous but ready.
I have already met my 500 deductible and I am about 175 dollars away from meeting my out of pocket and I am almost sure that either the hospital or anesthesiologist will probably bill before the Surgeon does - hopefully. That way my surgery would be actually 100% covered, if not I will have to pay 10% of the cost. I'm crossing my fingers.
A bit of advice - Be Proactive - It took me a while to understand all the health insurance lingo and this journey has taught me quite a bit, but another thing -I learned is that I had to make the independent choice to call my insurance carrier myself and inquire about my questions. I was always online tracking my expenses, co-pays and twice I caught errors and made sure they were fixed - mainly from different health offices billing the wrong amount or not following thru on a pre-authorization during the pre-op process. I found that not every health facility has the same billing practices, so you have to stay alert.
    Best of luck

I have a Blender Bottle that comes with a little built in container. I use that to transport powders. Sometimes I use it to transport my Vitamins and Calcium things if I opt for a premixed Protein drink that morning. Got the Blender Bottle with the shaker thing at Target for like 10 or 11 bucks in a kicky hot pink shade

I had VGS done about 10 months ago, and have had time to reflect on the journey so far, so here's my perspective. What you're going through now is all part of the process, first you question the severity of having to resort to surgery, you ask what's wrong with me, then how are we going to tell everyone and the fear of their reaction, then making the committment along with the doubts that it might not work. But, what's going to happen to YOU if you do nothing? Are you going to suddenly find that perfect diet or your inner athlete just because everyone tells you that's the best way to do it? Or is it more likely that your weight keeps going up and your body keeps getting damaged?
So, embrace the process, some parts of it is going to be hard and painful, the potential remarks from family may hurt, but its a test of your resolve. When you are where I am in a year, it will be up to you to determine if it was worth it. A year ago I could barely walk, my hip had deteriorated, my knees were bad, lower back problems, on CPAP, diabetes and cholesterol meds, and I felt old (I'm in my 60's). Today, I walk at least two miles a day or more, off CPAP and meds, I feel better than I did in my 50's. Life is great, totally worth it! Good luck in your journey, make it about you.

Hey there..... My surgery was on Monday.... I was surprised at how much pain I felt coming out of the Recovery Room. I kepIt saying out loud "I wasn't prepared for this!!!!". But I hit the happy button and all was fine. The pain meds are there for you to use, so USE THEM. I had 1 family member and 2 friends with me on surgery day, but I could barely keep my eyes open. I remember our conversations, but I was very sleepy. Was up and walking on the same day.... Tues wasn't as sleepy, but still taking some pain meds from time to time. Walked more....I couldn't Pee on my own, so I had to be catheterized in the middle of the night, they removed it on Tues AM and said I should be able to go on my own now, didn't happen. Finally, I turned on the shower and heard the Water and made Pee, Woooo Hooooo. then I was released. All of this time (with the exception of right out of the recovery room), I felt fine.
My brother brought me home, and dropped me off. I live alone and wanted to recover alone. I was shocked to see that I had gained the 10 pounds I lost in pre-op diet while in the hospital... all the fluids .. Took until Thurs to lose that 10 pounds, so it came off fast.. I was extremely weak, so weak that it took everything out of me to walk to the bathroom. It was like that on tues, wed and thurs. I think Wednesday was the worst day with weakness. I could only get in like 30 grams of Protein those days and drank lots of Water. I've had zero nausea.....haven't taken any pain meds since I left the hospital. I have had a small headache every day since Monday, which I never have had before.
My taste buds have changed, I've always been a sugar addict, now every Protein Drink is just too sweet. Never thought anything could be too sweet before this journey.
Friday, I woke up feeling more normal. Took a short walk, drove to GNC to buy a liquid B Complex. Couldn't handle the chewable ones. I took a shower (yes, I needed one desperately) and washed my hair. All went well.
Tonight, I'm going out for a friend's birthday. They're all going to dinner and a comedy club. I'm going to meet them at the comedy club, so it won't be so obvious that I can't eat. Will sit there for an hour and a half and sip water. Only 2 of the 10 people going know about my surgery.
I've lost 12.5 pounds from my highest weight. The only issue I'm having now is that I've lost the sensation to Pee. If it's been 2 hours, i should feel like my bladder is full. But I don't.... everyone says that's normal after being catheterized. 5 days later and I still don't feel the urge.... so i just go every couple of hours!!!
    Good luck to you!!!

This is day 6 of my pre-op diet and I actually feel really good. First 3 days were hell, but I kept telling myself in my mind that "I am ready for this" It really is all in the mind. I went from craving Chinese food and pizza to not feeling hungry at all. I started to go to the track in the evenings after work to distract me and give me something to do. There is no turning back for me. I lost 12 pounds in just 6 days with 3 days of pre-op diet left before I'm sleeved and I am sooo ready for the other side. I know it won't be easy, but I'm ready!

One oreo? You're doing fine, don't worry! If you had an entire pack, that's one thing. Rome wasn't built in a day, and one cookie is barely a blip on the radar.
Today, my patient's family gave me a giant box of hot, steaming cheese sticks from the pizzeria they work at. I thank them, told them I'd enjoy it at home, and then threw it at my roommate and told her to hurry up and eat it to get it out of my sight. Oh God, the temptation!
