  1. Hi RedTulip, Thank you so much for posting, glad to hear you are on the mend! Your post was perfect, I'm having surgery tomorrow and it is good to see the more detailed posts so I have an idea of what to expect. You've already lost 67lbs, almost half way, congratulations! Jen
  2. Hi Lola, I'm being banded on 15th. Happy to be a buddy if you are interested. I'm in Australia. I am 32 and have about 40 kilos/88pounds to lose. I'm excited, but getting a little nervous. Good luck tomorrow, Jen
  3. Good luck josntra and cherry, my excitement has also gone and I'm starting to get a little nervous. I just can't wait.
  4. Thanks guys, I really can't wait for my life to be changed for good.
  5. It's funny you should mention this. My sister's husband has had terrible trouble with vomiting and taking his anti-depressant. I am also on anti-depressants for a neurological dysfunction and migraine and do have reflux, but I think that is just from being overweight. Hopefully it is a thing of the past!
  6. Hi! Congratulations! I'm also concerned about post op nausea. I'm being banded on Tues. Glad to hear it went so well, Good luck with the liquids! Jen
  7. Amber, I LOVE the new icon! Going to change it now!
  8. Hi Jo, This site is a great place to start with your research. Spend some time reading through the message board - pretty much every question you have will have a thread somewhere. There is a thread just for Aussies. You can also search the threads for the questions you have. Everyone here is very supportive and helpful. I am being banded on Tues in Sydney. March is a very long time to wait just for an appointment. Do you have a GP referral? I got in to see my surgeon within 2 days of me calling and a surgery date pretty quickly. Good luck with your journey, Jen
  9. Hi Hilary, what pain meds did they send you home with?
  10. I hear ya! I have decided to tell my close friends and family. I have to tell my in-laws - they are from eastern europe and will stack my dinner plate a mile high, then when I don't eat seconds, will ask why I don't like their cooking! My mother-in-law is very anxious and was asking me all sorts of questions yesterday - won't you have saggy skin and need cosmetic surgery, you better eat chocolate now as you won't be able to eat it ever again etc etc..... you get the picture. My parents, sisters and DH have been nothing but supportive, I am blessed. I will tell anyone who asks the truth - it is far easier than remembering who I fibbed to!
  11. Hey Tom, Congrats on being banded. I'll be joining the ranks on Tuesday and hope that my recovery is as good as yours seems! Good luck with the liquid diet! Jen
  12. Wow Jess, I'm so excited for you! Mine is on Tuesday and I just can't wait. Please keep in touch, we can be kinda like buddies if you like. Good luck, can't wait to see how you go. Jen
  13. Hi comepickmeup, glad to hear you are now at home and doing ok. I'm having mine on Tuesday, so I'm not far behind you. My worst fear is post-op nausea. As a nurse, my anaesthetist is going to get strict instructions for anti-emetics at the end of my surgery! Hope your shoulder pain goes away soon, Jen
  14. Congrats Ginger, I"m looking forward to that myself!
  15. Congrats Hilary, hope your diet until real food goes really quickly!
  16. Well done Linda and welcome to LBT. I'm also banded this week on 15th, can't wait!
  17. I don't think you can ever be too fat to train or have a trainer. They are experts and are probably have had many overweight clients. You go girl!
  18. Welcome Michelle, I also lurked for a little, but couldn't help myself. I now have a surgery date in 3 days' time. I can't wait to see the new me. Everyone is very friendly and helpful on the boards and you'll get a lot of support. Jen
  19. In Australia it is an OTC medication too, but the pharmacist has to weigh you and check your height as only people with a BMI over about 35 (I think) can get it.
  20. I'm so glad for your post becky. I'm being banded on Tuesday and when I stocked up on liquids, I included some little pineapple juices just for that perfect occasion. I"m hoping never to need it, but it seems to work so well for everyone. In Australia, there aren't medications you can buy over the counter for nausea, so I will ask my GP for a prescription for it so I have some on hand.
  21. My band fills will be bulk-billed, but my surgeon charges a co-payment of $15 for each appointment - they call it a "needle fee".Not sure if I will get any back from private health.
  22. He he Shandra, I have already warned my boss that I might be grumpy when I come back to work!
  23. My dr's instruction book says that I can have diet soft/soda drinks, but I'm going to use my banding as an instrument to not drink it so much and change to water. I probably won't feel like it anyway, if it makes you uncomfortable.
  24. Hi Anya, I am being banded next week and had a gastroscopy a few days ago. My surgeon took a sample from inside my stomach to test for it, given my history of reflux and indigestion. He said I will need antibiotics after my surgery if it comes back positive. I will let you know how I go. Jen
  25. Yep, what everyone else said! It takes you by suprise, no matter how much fat you eat. I've never seen anything like it and I will never take xenical again! Well, hopefully my banding will ensure I never have to resort to pills ever again.
