queencity reacted to Proud2BMe in Am I loosing weight too fast?
No such thing as losing weight too fast when you are obese.
Also, please realize that you are in the honeymoon phase. It will not last forever and you will soon begin to hit stalls and then your weight loss will eventually stop altogether. So for the first 2 years, especially the first year, you should focus on losing as much weight as possible. If you get below weight you can then increase your calories but cross that bridge when it's needed.

queencity got a reaction from rking in How long does 3 week stall last?
I have been in a 2 week stall. And after surgery i have only lost 14 pounds which include the 5 lbs i gained at the hospital. I am starting to feel discouraged but alot of people stated that we jusy have to wait this out. I had surgery Nov 9. I guess we will get there if we stick to the surgeons plan.

I am 6 weeks post op and didnt work out twice bc i was really sick. But i work out every day 3- 4 miles on the treadmill and use dumbells slowly increasing the number on each hand. For example today i went shopping literally alllll day went to about 20 stores, got back home at 7 pm and still worked out an hour and weights. I have lost 30 lbs.

queencity reacted to WL WARRIOR in Bypass, Band, or Sleeve? Stats on Weight Loss Surgery by Type!
I underwent my bariatric surgery through the University of Missouri Bariatric Center in Columbia, Missouri last October. Of the 17 patients that had bariatric surgery in October, there were only 2 (one of those being me) that chose the sleeve. The rest chose gastric bypass.
We were given the choice of band, bypass, or sleeve, but the Bariatrcian was most accustomed to working with bypass patients. So, during the first consultation, all his information and facts about past patient success centered around the gastric bypass procedure. Hence, that is why most patients made it their surgery of choice. The same goes for me, but I changed my mind two weeks before surgery because I was paranoid about my medications not absorbing correctly now or when I'm 70.
Once I changed my mind to VSG, many of the other pre op bypass patients asked why I didn't want to lose a lot of weight. It still seems like most (including those in the medical field) in my area believe that bypass is the way to go if you want to lose the most weight. According to the data presented by the OP, that notion may be changing.
It's also interesting to note here that, as a sleeve patient, I lost 140 pounds and got to goal in 8 months. I lost faster and more overall weight than the bypass patients that attend our post op bariatric meetings. In time, newer research will probably show that sleeve patients can lose just as much or more than bypass patients.

queencity reacted to wannaBthinsoon in Packing My Hospital Bag...
chapstick, a comb or brush, undies, socks, and just wear home what you wore there. Keep it lite, you're not going to be there long, and while you're there, all you will want to do is sleep, when you're not up walking.

My parents and sister knew when i made up my mind and they were extremely supportive. I told a few coworkers while i was in the process and a few more when i was approved. They have all been supportive and are happy for me. I wont tell coworkers i dont converse with.
