  1. Hi, I just saw your post. I'm an audiologist in Texas. I needed to lose 100lbs too. I had surgery on Dec 6, 2007 and I feel it's the best decision I've ever made. Only about 5% of people who need to lose >100lbs will lose it and keep it off. Make the call!! :wink2:
  2. I was hesistant to tell one of my sisters becasue she is a big fitness guru. I eventually told her and prefaced it by telling her I just wanted her to know and if she was not able to be supportive, then please don't say anything at all. But it went well and all of my immediate famly knew before the surgery. Only 3 of my close friends know about it other than my family. I like it that way. I would tell people if they ask...I won't lie about it. It's been nice to see how some people look at me and know I look different but no one wants to say anything.
  3. I like the new forums too! It's nice to see people on here with common goals!
  4. I'm 34 and in outside of Houston, Texas. I was banded December 2007.
  5. I am down to an 18 from 22 now! I've lost about 2.5 inches in my waist so far! YEAH!!! That feels good!
  6. That is a LONG time to be on clear liquids, however there is a clear protein. It's called NewWhey and it's flavored. I ordered it online from Supplements.net. It's not bad and you cam mix it with Crystal Light.
  7. I live up in the Conroe area, but I work in Bryan and decided to have my surgery up there. Dr. John Mason is in Bryan and is really great! I would recommend him! If you are paying cash or financing it is also a little less expensive and the care it excellent!
  8. My final straw was when I tried to put on a belt that was too big when I had bought it a couple of years ago and now it won't even come close to fitting around me. I had been thinking about Lap-Band for a couple of years, but the belt incident made me call and see what I needed to do. I really didn't think I would get approved for the financing, but when it all fell into place, I was ready to do it!! In face, my surgery ended up being only about 3 weeks later!
  9. I was told to wait 2 weeks before submerging in any water.
  10. The best advice I got to get me thru was to eat potato soup. I made some home-made and blended up all the chunks and it was great and helped me get thru those last few days of fluids. You should try it!
  11. My port is on my left side a little lower than the bottom of my ribs. You can't see it at all. You can feel it if you press around on that area if you know what you're looking for. I just had surgery on the 6th, but I know others who have already lost over 140lbs and you can't see their port. You'll be fine!
  12. I'm gonna use cocoa butter on mine once my steri-strips come off. I was told not to put anything on mine until then. I'm hoping the scarring isn't too bad!
  13. This was me the night before surgery.
  14. It sounds like you are aff to a good start! I had my surgery on the 6th and I think I'm close to 30 lbs now, but I have my official follow-up appointment tomorrow and will get an accurate weight! Woo Hoo!!
  15. Yeah!! I'm glad to hear you are home and doing well!
  16. I had my surgery on 12/6/07. I have 5 incisions. Three are about 4mm, one is about 10mm, and the port incision is about 30mm or so. I have steri-strips on all of them and they haven't even started to peel yet. I've heard it can take about 3 weeks, so maybe next week they'll start coming off!
  17. Hi Aimee, I'm Aimee too! I just had my surgery on the 6th. Let me know how it went!
  18. Hi, I just had my surgery on 12/6/07. I had never had surgery before this either. I think it's normal to be a little nervous. But you'll be fine. Once I arrived at the hospital, it was over before I knew it! Don't worry!!! I lost 12 lbs on my pre-op diet too!
  19. Hi, I'm new to this and just found this great website! I just had my surgery on 12/6/2007. I appreciate all the great info. I was banded in Bryan, Texas by Dr. John A Mason. My Pre-op weight was 260.
  20. I only had to be on clear liquids the day after surgery and then to regular liquids and protein shakes. I'm still in my liquid stage now. I just had surgery December 6th. I have been eating mostly broths and lately some thicker soups. I am feeling ready for heavier food now. My appointment is on Wednesday.
