  1. Man, I can't believe you are already one month post op. The days just keep going by faster and faster. I have to tell you Dub, you have probably the best attitude about everything related to this surgery that I have read on here. You're a better man than I. I have hit my first real stall. Just completed 3 weeks of lose/gain 1 pound. I'm not too angry about it, more curious than anything. I just have to find out what I am needing to beat the thing. Is it time to up my calories? Do I need to lower them? More Fluid? More exercise? Less? Meh... I'll figure it out sometime. I mean, I have the rest of my life, right?
  2. The elliptical has long been my favorite machine. I started out on a stationary bike, but my gym eventually switched them all to recumbent ones and I hate those. So I was already used to doing cardio workouts. I tried the rowing machine for a while, but we never clicked. The first time I tried the elliptical I didn't care for how little up and down motion it had, but the sweat that poured outta me convinced me to continue using it. I started on 20 minutes and stayed there for years. I only had so much time at lunch away from work. But now that I have a more flexible schedule, I routinely do 30-45 minutes on level 8. I just sign into the gym wifi and stream a Netflix show. I get lost watching that and before I know it the show is over and I have a 150 bpm heartrate. Just keep at it.
  3. lol, just a dirty look!
  4. No. Well, not anymore. But that did happen in the beginning! What I am referring to however is that my wife cannot keep her hands off me. At all. My god man, I'm chafing!
  5. While my wife & I were getting ready for work this morning, I double checked the weather. Looked like it was going to be a chilly day here in Ohio. I grabbed one of my new-to-me fleece sweaters that I picked up at the local thrift store. My wife grabbed one as well and to her dismay she discovered she could not wear it because it was too small for her. The days of my wife stealing my clothes are finally at an end!
  6. OK guys, I know up until now you have been reading thread thinking how awesome it is or will be. It's not. I'm tired. Just tired... I'm only a man, not a machine. I literally have lied to my wife and said that I had to get up early the next day, or I have a headache, or my back is spasming... anything to get some sleep at night. I feel like a piece a meat. Sometimes I just want to be held, is that so wrong?!
  7. I have never done the missed connection thing, but I would ask him to wear the clothes that he had on that day (the best that you can remember) and send a picture. Ditto for you. Then, if you decide to meet, meet at the same location. That way the person and the location are the same and you will have the greatest chance of remembering if this is the right person.
  8. If you were a guy, I'd say you were a cad. If you were a guy, I'd say you were the type that gives the rest of us a bad name. If you were a guy, I'd say that you are using your newfound sexual appeal the same way that a young boy wields a new toy sword. Recklessly and careless of the possible pain you can inflict upon the people you are playing with. If you were a guy, I'd think you were the type that has low self esteem and is seeking some, hell... any sort of validation of their self worth. Unfortunately you are only getting it in the form of physical intimacy. If you were a guy, I'd tell you to man up. Deceiving a spouse in this way is detestable. Let them go and try to find a partner that is worthy of their time. If you were a guy, I'd tell you that they way you are behaving is contemptible as well as totally reprehensible. But you're not a guy; you're a woman. So I won't say any of those things to you. You say you don't want to hurt anyone, then go on to say that you feel no regret. You aren't coming here for advice, you are coming here for permission. Most likely because if you were to tell any real friends, they would find the situation as repugnant as I do.
  9. I've heard all of these before, but the newest one was someone asking me, "Are you single now?" lol, everyone knows the wife fattened me up.
  10. I sure would be interested in knowing how in the world you are going to hit your protein goal without whey since it is the most prevalent one out there.
  11. Damn @@telltell624, those are the kind of results I want!
  12. Stop... Don't make me love you... Sent from my phone, please forgive brevity and misspelling
  13. I can go even further back. I met my wife through AOL chat rooms! It wasn't a dating one though, it was one dealing with Central American history. Never happens when you expect it.
  14. I should also mention that my thirst nowadays is not the same as before surgery. I don't eat any junk food anymore, no serious sweets and my sodium is probably cut in half. So my thirst is more easily slaked than before. If you follow a healthier diet like we are supposed to, I wouldn't be surprised if you find the same true for you as well.
  15. Hey, small world. My wife and her family are from Costa Rica! Welcome to the forum. In time, you will just learn to slow down eating. There isn't much you can do to get around that in the beginning. After a few months, you can start eating normal again, but you will run the risk of eating too much too quickly. Then comes the vomiting. Just do your best to eat as slowly as possible.
  16. Man, I remember thinking this. Truth be told, I don't remember when it was that I could take a big slug off my water bottle. But I can say that now at 8 months I can drink almost like I used to. So I would venture to say that by at least 6 months you will be able to take a thirst quenching drink.
  17. Protein bars have a warning saying that eating too much will have a laxative effect because of the sugar alcohols they use. If you are having the monster 30g protein bars, no more than 1 a day. If you are having the 10g ones, 3 max.
  18. Just to mention this since I don't see it above, pay attention the sugar alcohols in whatever shakes you buy. Too much of those have a laxative effect. Ask me how I know...
  19. Actually I think the forum does a good job of providing support for those that need it. But many people are posting things that really aren't about the surgery, they're more about their personal life. I realize that there will be some overlap, I'm just stating the obvious. When you deviate from the stated purpose of the forum, opinion comes into play more. And since opinions are like assholes (everyone has one), people frequently aren't going to agree. Add to that what has already been mentioned, they say they are needing support, but they are looking for validation, and now you have hurt feelings. Add to that no one can hear inflection or tone with typed responses, and people will always read comments in the worse possible way. Some people also just need the emotional high from posting drama. When you see a thread that doesn't appear to be supportive, go to the OP and look at their recent topics and post. I'd wager you will see a trend of attention seeking threads. Lastly, people can become jaded when others keep asking for help/support; receive support or help, but then turn around and do the same thing again and again. It can be frustrating to the "veterans".
  20. I just wanted to revist this comment - I had celery with salsa this weekend. According to MyFitnessPal, 4 tortilla chips have 100 calories (approx). I had two stalks of celery and about a cup of salsa for less than 150 calories. The crunch was totally satisfying and there was no fat in the snack. I loved it! The only draw back was the lack of saltiness that compliments salsa so well. But honestly, I think I will live.
  21. I don't trust the "protein" ice creams and specially formulated deserts. I just use Fage yogurt with Torani sugar free syrup for flavor and freeze it. More protein than these ice creams.
  22. Nope, you're not alone in this. Hormones are getting dumped into your system. Case in point: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/343777-guys-room-is-everyone-else-overly-emotional-or-am-i-just-an-ae/ Any of that sound familiar?
  23. I recently read someones post that said they used celery to eat their salsa. I am far enough out now that I think I can eat celery. I need the crunch to go along with the salsa.
  24. lol... Blerdgirl, I swear your post wasn't there when I submitted mine. I wasn't picking on your recipe!
  25. Pfft, I don't think there is a bad one! I love salsa. But the tortilla chips are way too high in calories. So now I pick out 4 chips and use them like spoons to eat my salsa until they are soggy. Oh, I changed my mind... anytime someone puts fruit in a salsa there is a good chance that it will be nasty. Not 100%, but a good chance.
