tcon reacted to BLERDgirl in Stopped Losing Weight
That is going to make you nuts. You can weigh 3 times a day and get 3 different weights. When the scale makes you nuts, it's time to put it away.

tcon reacted to Babbs in Please share your 1-3 month losses
Just keep in mind as you get answers that there are many, many factors that determine how much weight people lose. Comparing your potential losses to others can be a slippery slope. I know. I was a very slow loser compared to many. It was only when I stopped comparing and just did my own thing was it easier for me to just keep moving forward until I finally made my goal weight.
Looking back, how quickly or slowly I lost weight doesn't matter one bit anymore! The fact that I lost it and am now maintaining it does.

tcon got a reaction from Cervidae in Piggin' out ????
I actually started my pre-op diet early. Before that I slowly started removing things from my diet. First I removed coffee, (I knew that would be the toughest)...then bread, Pasta. Bread and Pasta were a weakness of mine but honestly I don't miss them now. I try to limit my coffee to once a week now because it makes me hungry whenever I drink it. ???????? I'm not a big sweet eater so that wasn't difficult for me.
Good Luck with your pre-op diet...remember that it does get easier after the third day.
And good luck with surgery.

tcon reacted to Inner Surfer Girl in 2 weeks no weight loss
Many people don't show an initial loss on the scale because of IV fluids and swelling post-op. Have you talked to your NUT? Did your surgeon or NUT express any concern when you had your post-op follow-up? If not, I you are probably doing fine.
Almost everyone hits a stall about three weeks post op.
Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids, take your Vitamins and supplements as directed, and exercise.
Even though you are getting 70 grams of Protein, your calories are very low. You should do better once you are able to get in more calories.
Embrace the Stall!

tcon reacted to BLERDgirl in 2 weeks no weight loss
Perfectly normal. Many people do lose a lot in those first 2 weeks, but just as many don't lose at all and some even gain. Don't compare yourself to others. Just focus on following your NUT's instructions. Hit those protein and Fluid goals and you'll be fine.

tcon reacted to HappyNean32 in 20 lbs WOW!
I am so excited I had surgery on Tuesday and as of this morning I am down 20 lbs wow. I don't see my surgeon until another week but I hope he is happy. I know it slows down the further you get put but I am going to enjoy while the scale is moving!!

tcon reacted to Babbs in Dress size conundrum
There are so many factors that play into a women’s clothing size. All in all our size will range 3 or 4 numbers up and down. I would say someone that averages a size 8 could probably fit into anything from a women’s 6–10 or a juniors 7–9. Here are some examples of reasons that clothing would fluctuate in size:
1. Brand name. Some clothing usually more expensive clothing tends to run smaller where as less expensive brands i.e. Old Navy tend to run larger. It’s not a set in stone rule but always try on.
2. Most clothing now a days has LYRCA in it, the more LYRCA the more stretch hence you may wear a smaller size in it.
3. Your body. Just because two people may be the same weight or the same weight and height doesn’t’ mean they have the same body. It’s just the way it goes.

tcon reacted to w8loser in GBS saved my life & helped me create a new one...literally
I haven't been on here in a while, but I had rny on April 3, 2014. I lost 105lbs, making it down to 187lbs. My motivation was my two children & my wonderful husband. He is not my kid's natural father, but he has been their dad when their's weren't. But, I really wanted to give him a child of his own even when he said it didn't matter; that my kids are his kids. In 2011, I got pregnant, but soon after miscarried due to out of control blood pressure. Got pregnant again in 2013, but it was in my right tube. So, lost the baby & the tube. Doc showed pictures after surgery & I was ashamed. My tubes/uterus/ reproductive organs were surrounded by fat. I believe that my fat got in the way of baby making it to my womb. I decided once & for all to have the surgery after changing my mind twice over the years. Fast forward to August 2015 -we found out we are expecting without even trying! Our baby girl is doing great & is due to arrive on my 2 year Surgiversary April 2016!! How amazing is that?! Hope this inspires someone.
Pic is from 6 weeks ago.

tcon got a reaction from The Candidate in Husbands feelings..
I agree with the other ladies. It's definitely making my marriage better. Mainly because my confidence has increased. When I feel good about myself it makes me more attractive.
It doesn't mean he loves me anymore or less. He's always loved me and called me beautiful and we have a great marriage. Surgery gave me my confidence back.

tcon got a reaction from grandmaofone in I have been to gym everyday and still in stall!
I've stalled/had really slow weight lost for about a month. Even gained a little one week.
This week my body decided to lose 3 pounds since Sunday. I'll take that. ????????
I know it's normal so I don't let it stress me out.
This to shall pass. Keep your chin. ????????

tcon reacted to glitter eyes in Husbands feelings..
I think a strong marriage will just get stronger.
I have been married for 24 years and my sweet husband has loved me through big and small. I was 105 pounds when we meet years ago. My highest weight was 271. He was never critical and has always told me how beautiful I am- he may need better glasses!!
The things that have changed was not that he was more attracted to me, but that now we have way more fun!!!
When I was heavy I didn't want to go and do as much. Outdoors activities never happened. I dreaded walking a lot and overall was just plain lazy from hauling all that weight around on my short 5'3" frame... Fast forward to post op.
I now weight 145 and have a zest for life that I have never had before. We have so many new hobbies and are having a blast trying new things. I try to do at least two new things each season. In living outside my comfort zone I have found so many things I love to do; hiking, camping, kayaking, ziplining, paddle boardinging.
So my marriage is just plain fun now!!

Would you still love him before and after? If so, then there's no reason to put the cart before the horse. What will happen will happen. Be happy he's offering his support.

tcon reacted to DaisyAmy in Husbands feelings..
I agree with these ladies, although I'm still pre op. My hubby is very supportive and loves me no matter what. I do think I'll feel so much better about myself and that will lead to a better relationship.

I've been married a long time like @@glitter eyes. I think if you already have a strong marriage, the weight loss just...ahem....enhances it.

tcon reacted to Inner Surfer Girl in Eating if not hungry?
I find it important to make sure I eat, especially if I am not hungry, and especially early post-op.
Like with staying hydrated, if I wait until I feel like it I have a very hard time getting in all my Protein and fluids.
I actually am facing that today. I ate some relatively light meals and now I am going to be up way too late just so I can work in a Protein shake.
-
tcon reacted to Babbs in Eating if not hungry?
Yes, you need to eat even when you're not hungry. I think for most of us, if we only ate when we were hungry, we would never eat!
food is now your fuel, like a car. You can't go vroom without your fuel!
It's definitely a balance to eat when you need to, but not find yourself grazing all day. That's why I do best when I just eat on a schedule. Breakfast at 7, snack at 10, lunch at noon, snack at 3 and dinner at 5 or 6. Been doing it that way for the last 15 months, and it's certainly worked for me

tcon reacted to lorri716 in Happy dance
I'll admit I danced naked this morning! Yea that's a sight you didn't want to see lol. But I'm officially down 50# from my highest weight. I don't calculate from surgery as most people do. I'm going from my highest weight the week of my pre-op diet. I have a long way to go but I feel good and I'm happy with how things are going. Everyone tries to compare losses, I look at it this way. My body is going to do its thing in its own time. I have no set date to meet my goal weight as I didn't gain areal this weight over night and it's certainly not going to come off over night. Slow and steady wins the race!

tcon reacted to gwiggles in Angry & Regretful?
I want to thank everyone that answered my post. It has helped so much. I have done a lot of thinking, and I've come to the conclusion that I just had a case of cold feet. I have been thinking about this for five years, and finally decided that I was ready to do it, knew I could, needed, and wanted to do it!
You have all brought back to me the reasons why I decided to do it in the first place. I can't tell you how much I appreciate that.
Also, I'm a naturally happy person, I have no idea what I was thinking, worrying about becoming a crabby butt!

tcon reacted to Djmohr in Angry & Regretful?
I am 14 months post iop and like many others I only regret not doing it sooner.
It is the best of thing I have ever done for myself.
