Hello I really should post this on the post op side I am a May sleever- I had my surgery May 4th, Monday. I got home yesterday.
I can honestly say everything played out just as everyone said it would. It was not too bad at all, Some gas pains but nothing too bad. I was up and walking the same day.
Now I am home and still on Clear Liquids till next week.
It is a process trying to get in all the Protein and fluids. Isopure takes care of both and is a big help.
Good luck and no worries. I will check in with all the may sleevers.

Mremilio reacted to Dooter in Two Years out: LISTEN UP NOOBS AND SEEKERS! *warning-harsh*
Hey all- Dooter here. I haven't been on here in a while, but this thought has been plaguing me, and I need to get it out. -Let me preface this discussion by saying I am GLAD I had the sleeve surgery, and I would not change it for the world. I had NO complications and I lost 102 pounds in eight months, and for that I am grateful. I needed to do that quickly for my own sanity and health. HOWEVER- that said-
DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT think for one teeny tiny minute that having surgery and dumping a bunch of weight is going to fix your head and the behavior that got you here. Not gonna happen. During the "honeymoon" period where you can sneeze off five pounds at a time and you're never hungry after your teaspoon of food, you can't imagine EVER returning to old feelings and desires. I am here to tell you that it sneaks back in a little at a time. A taste here, a taste there... "oh look. I've gained a pound. well, that was salty food, I'll just drink more Water tomorrow." HORSE HOCKEY!!!! That's where it starts. Your old head trips creep in. Hiding food. Eating junk now, figuring you'll just shape up "next week" or "tomorrow." Tomorrow never happens and you've gained 30 pounds back. Yes. With your itty bitty stomach, you have gained 30 pounds back. It can happen. Or worse, you gain it all back. That can happen too.
The reason I am writing this and being to harsh about it is that you are a person who is considering, or who has gone through a MAJOR life changing surgery. SO CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!! Be vigilant. come out of that honeymoon with your armor on! You WILL stop losing at one point and your body will begin to fight you as mine has. The diet my surgeon gave me no longer works at this point in the game, as my metabolism is stuck in cold molasses and it has taken a personal trainer/dietitian to get it moving again, and it is majorly hard work and painful and distasteful at times, but I have another 100 lbs to lose AFTER the 30 lb regain is gone.
Have somebody close to you hold you accountable for exercising and eating right. Splatter it all over Facebook if you have to (I did) so you'll have MANY people holding you accountable! Do what you have to do to reach your goal. Don't settle for less and don't eat crap. And don't think that surgery is the final solution. It's a tool that will get you halfway there. The rest is up to YOU and no one else. Thank you. That is all.

welcome Debbie! You may need to gather up all that crappy food and toss it, or have him hide it from you, if they are trigger foods for you. This is a big huge major life change for you, and you will need his support. If my hubs refused to support me by removing those trigger foods, there would be some problems in this house. We've been married 30 years. His plan is to follow my eating program to help himself become healthy. Maybe your hubs could attend a seminar with you or meet with the surgeon or nutritionist or dietitian with you for some healthy insight. Best of luck to you. (Don't be a doormat, Debbie. Stand up for your health! YOU are important, and YOU deserve to be healthy) All the best, Sherrie.

I echo what @@JamieLogical said. Educate him about it today! Tell him all about the three main types of surgery. (I have found that people are fascinated by the subject.) Invite him to come with you to a seminar or surgeon's appointment. Believe me, the doctors are used to answering tough questions from family members. And if he still says that he wishes you wouldn't take the easy way out, print this out and read it to him....
A message from someone who had gastric surgery, lost 115 pounds, and is living below goal weight.....
Is this the easy way out? Well, yes and no.
Yes, because the smaller stomach helps me control my appetite and the amount of food I can take in. Initially, calories are restricted because of the lesser volume consumed, but good choices still have to be made every single time I put something in my mouth.
And no, it's not easy. Because in the 9 months since my sleeve surgery, I have:
Taken nutritional counseling classes Been evaluated by a psychologist Been evaluated by a cardiologist Been evaluated by a pulmonologist Had an upper GI evaluation Had a complete physical by my primary care physician Gone through a two-week pre-operative liquid diet Gone through and recovered from a major surgical procedure that removed 80% of my stomach Gone through a two-week post operative liquid diet Gone through a two-week soft food diet Eaten zero starches (bread, Pasta, rice, potatoes, pizza, etc.) Eaten zero sugary Desserts (cake, pie, pudding, ice cream, candy, etc.) Eaten very few fruits Always eaten Protein first Always eaten non-starchy vegetables second (and there's never room for anything else) Had zero fruit juices Had zero sodas Had zero alcoholic beverages Eaten 80-100 grams of Protein every single day Drunk 64-120 ounces of fluids every single day Exercised 5-6 times a week Logged everything I ate or drank for several months, and again whenever my weight loss slowed And through it all, I get to watch my friends and family eat and drink whatever they want at restaurants, parties, holidays, sporting events, and so on.... Now, does that sound "the easy way"? Not by a long shot! (Just compare the yes and no sections above.) But it is a tool that makes the likelihood of long-term success much higher than it would be without it.

If he's so damned concerned about you being "happy and healthy" why doesn't he start with your emotional health and stop nagging and berating you about your weight?
No, he hasn't. An "ideal husband" doesn't make his spouse feel less than. For whatever reason. Love isn't mean. Love doesn't berate and put down. Love doesn't nag.
Do yourself a favor and get some therapy before you decide to do WLS. Things aren't going to magically get better because you lost some weight. It's so much more complicated than that. The emotional work needs to be done, also.

Why are you eating off plan? Think about why you had surgery in the first place. To stop the madness, right? Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to change your relationship with food. If I may be so bold, it sounds like you could use a professional counselor to help you get to the bottom of this. In the meantime, make a decision right now to start following all the rules. If you do, I promise it will change your life for the better. And once you detox from all the crap you've been putting in your system, it get so much easier. Good luck, I wish you all the success in the world, but you'll need to put in the work to make it happen.

Your new tummy is now the boss of you. It is the parent and you are the child. Go to YouTube and watch a video of your type of surgery to remind yourself of how brutalized your stomach is right now. It is an internal organ - vital for your survival - not a picnic basket. Please, please stop and be strong.
The liquid stage will pass soon enough. Would you give roast beef, chips, and pop to a newborn baby? Of course not. Its little baby tummy can't handle that stuff yet. Well, neither can you right now and your tummy is trying to communicate that to you. Take care of it and it will take care of you. Now, young lady.......you behave today. Hugs from Chicago.

    Hello
I had my sleeve done on May 4th, 2015. From the time I awoke in the hospital I have felt sick. They sent me home on Tuesday with only pain meds, a breathing thing (to aspirate my lungs-so no clots) and instructions on to 'SIP' my drinks. Well three days in and I was gagging a lot, throwing up and have had constant diarehha. I recently discovered something else I didn't have before Surgery...a hemroid! And I wasn't pushing anything out. Anyways I finally called the Dr's office and the nurse on duty said, "have you been taking your anti spasm and anti nausea meds? I said, "I wasn't sent home with any scripts but the one for pain" She was surprised and called me in these two life savers!! I feel a bit better but I need HELP. Here is what I am experiencing and if you can help me God Bless you.
I can't stand the smell of food, on my husband or daughter...it makes me feel nauseous. I can't get down any Protein and was really proud of myself for eating 3 popsicles yesterday and not throwing up! I tried my protein and promplty threw it up...so a bit off of it right now I have no energy...I am depressed ... when does the hell end? I have explosive diarehha that I cannot control all the time I wake a 3 am and can't fall back to sleep unless I drug myself..Insomnia. Please help me?
    Thanks
    Lisa

Great advice mremilio. I too will piggyback behind him and say during the first few days it's really imperative to focus primarily on your liquids don't push yourself on the Protein just yet. Just worry about making sure that you stay hydrated & that you get plenty of rest so you can heal. hopefully in a few days you'll start feeling better and then you can start pushing the protein.

The most important thing after VSG is staying hydrated. I agree that your anti nausea pills are not strong enough. If you can not take pills and liquids are working then maybe just try a patch or a suppository. If you can't keep liquids down, yes I recommend you go to the doctors office or even the ER to get some fluids. Sorry for your problems but I think some of us if not most of us experience these moments. Hang in there and this will pass. Good luck!

I began my journey on 2/20, and it looked like it would be a July surgery date to comply with a 3 month WL period. However they approved me (in 1 day) because I had been doing weight watchers and other things prior.
I am all approved (as of 3/25) and they were booked out all of April. So I am ready to roll on 5/4! I have a pre op class that I need to do on 4/15 where they will give me all the post op info, prescriptions, and more pre op details. I do know that I just need to keep up on a lower carb/high Protein diet. I don't have to do liquids until the day before (So Saturday night will be my last meal before Monday's surgery).
So I bumped up a couple months, and it's messed with me too.I am nervous, and I am keeping it quiet to my family. My sister had VSG done 9 weeks ago, and she's trying to talk me out of it. She doesn't think I can do it, and I won't tell them until I've finished the pre op class. My b-day is 4/24 so I am thinking dinner at the Melting Pot as a final indulgent meal.

DITTO! I am May 4 too!
