  8. Hi Gloucester, the surgery is nothing compared to the pain associated with Gallbladder disease. I had it laproscopically, spent 2 days in the hospital, felt 100 % within 8 days...small scars, no big deal....Good luck
  9. Hello, I had my gall bladder taken out about 5 years ago and I was also on a diet...so not worth the 30 pound weight loss...I was sooooooo sick. Hope this helps
  10. Is anyone taking chewable hair and nail vitamins or chewable prenatals? I can't seem to find any...thanks Lana
  11. Congrats Magic...I know this can be a long, confusing and scary process...best wish and keep in touch! Always Lana
  12. Hey Amanda, My name is Lana and I am on my way to being banded, just waiting for auth. This board is a great forum for your questions, insecurities etc. I guess there is no 100 percent guarantee with anything, but as you read there has been a lot of success with the band and from what I understand it absolutly will not work if you don't work it. As long as you don't try to sabotage yourself then it will work. As far as getting into debt I would make sure it's a payment you can live with or now may just not be the time. Stress is a huge cause of weight gain... If the main person who is supposed to support you becomes resentful because your now in debt, then it really won't be worth it...I wish you so much love and luck. Always Lana
  13. Hey blue, I just read your post and yes it is possible...but if either of them used an old scale or a scale that has not been serviced that could account for those numbers as well. Good luck Lana
  14. Hi everyone, I have a bmi of 37 and I hear it too..."your not big enough to have WLS"...well poo to you is what I say. This fat miserable body belongs to me and I get the final say!! Good luck all...this process is hell for me this week I hope the rest of you are having an easier go of it

  17. FYI Currently awaiting insurance approval from Anthem Blue Cross PPO for the lap band by dr a koura
  18. YEAH, I feel like there is more to the story. But best wishes
  19. Make33, Thank you for those words, although I may not have been the intended reciptient the message was recieved loud and clear. I have been flip flopping all morning (just saw the surgeon) asking myself why am I doing this, why can't I just live normally...again tearing into myself and feeling worthless because if I just had more self control I could avoid this whole damn thing...but those thoughts do not bear any real weight on the severity of the situation at hand. I need this, I want this and I will do this for myself because I want to be around for 30 or 40 more years...
  20. Just a thought, but this process (sometimes) should take a while. Surgery is a huge step in the right direction to getting better, but hurrying things along is not necessarily for the best...I suggest taking a deep breath, focusing on what you want and then take it one step at a time until you get there...best wishes
  21. OMG, you got your date!!! Congrats girl, I will be 3 or 4 week behind you! Keep in touch with me... Lana

Hi Tina, Are you experiencing pain? Backpain, hip or knee pain...on a personal note I have rib and hip pain that translates into arthritis...that was my saving grace. Maybe you just need to think it over for a while. Good Luck
  23. Hi famous, You and are I are not so far apart...I am just beginning as well. By Feb 1st I expect to have all my preop stuff done. So far so good. Best Wishes Lana
  24. My grandma had alzheimers, the meds they gave her basically put her to sleep for a decade. A chip may have been a better device, also depends on the severity of the disease. Some of these people just take off screaming down the street then what do you do? Give um meds and make them sleep until they die I guess. There is no easy answer...
  25. And don't forget you are "relearning" how to eat, that in itself will take time and patience.
