  1. Good luck! I know it will get sorted out!
  2. @@megieg - did you find anything else out about whether your dr sent all the paperwork or not? Fingers crossed for you!
  3. @@Rogofulm @@JamieLogical - Thanks so much to you both! I needed that encouragement!!
  4. This may not be the most popular reply and I am very early out - 4 weeks tomorrow - but right now I have a bit of buyers remorse. I know things will get better and I hope to be able to come back here in a couple of months and say no regrets, but don't fool yourself, THIS IS HARD. And no matter how much I read about it, I still wasn't prepared. This feeling of buyers remorse is very normal I am told. And the first couple if weeks weren't so bad but at 4 weeks in I am a bit overwhelmed with following all the rules and thinking about following all the rules at every moment of every day. I don't want this to deter anyone from the WLS path; I just wanted to say it's not all roses in the beginning. This too shall pass...
  5. Ditto for Premier Protein. I had been drinking the chocolate and didn't think I would like the vanilla but I actually do. I actually add a little Salted Caramel sugar free Syrup (by Torani) and it is SO good. To make my own shakes, I use Precision Engineering Whey Protein Isolate in Chocolate and like it quite well. For unflavored, I use a new one that my NUT recommended called Doc Hale's Whey-licious (only available online I think). Best part is it can be mixed in as little as 3 oz of Fluid which really helps early on post-op when you can't get much in. I mix it with 3 oz of Propel Fitness Water berry flavored and it tastes fine to me. (I mean not something I crave for sure but doesn't taste that bad and quickly gets me 20g of protein with only 90 calories. I also use this when I am just running short on protein for the day as it is fast. At 4 weeks post-op, it still takes me at least an hour to drink one of the Premier Protein Shakes which is 11 oz.
  6. Oh that stinks! Ice, heat, massage, chiropractic care? Those are the things I turn to when I do it - especially now that we aren't supposed to take Advil, Aleve, etc. Hope it gets better soon!
  7. The same thing happened to me - but I am only 3 1/2 weeks out so I figured it just was me not eating well enough. The first time with tuna and it was my first try at it, so I thought I just didn't tolerate it well. Today I had refried Beans at lunch which I have eaten a lot of times without issue but maybe I ate too fast or didn't chew it well enough? (I had changed brands and noticed they were not mashed as well as the previous brand I used.) Anyway, vomiting at work then left to drive home and had to pull over in a parking lot. Same as you - food but mostly mucous. I just had a very small amount of Soup for dinner and everything seems fine, so I will chalk mine up to eating too fast and not chewing and just keep an eye on it. I hope yours never happens again!
  8. I hope so!! I would love feet to go down 1/2 size. That would make all my shoes much more comfortable!
  9. By any chance do you know if the blood work surgeon does includes Thyroid panel? Only reason I ask is that sometimes surgery can affect thyroid (I think) and it might be worth checking out. Congrats on your weight loss!
  10. @@mlilwood - I have Cigna not BCBS but my program specifically stated: "Programs such as Weight Watchers® , Jenny Craig® and Optifast® are acceptable alternatives if done in conjunction with the supervision of a physician or registered dietician and detailed documentation of participation is available for review. However, physician-supervised programs consisting exclusively of pharmacological management are not sufficient to meet this requirement." Not saying necessarily that BCBS requires same, but your post caught my attention and I would hate for you to go through everything and then get denied. You might ask BCBS for a copy of their specific medical coverage details - or ask that question specifically to BCBS not just the surgeon's office. Not trying to be bossy - just thought I would throw in my 2 cents!
  11. I take BariActiv and haven't had an issue except I got way too full too fast when I tried to take it before eating and then ate on top of it. Since then I only take it after I eat. Sorry you are having trouble with them but sounds like you aren't the only one!
  12. I am so sorry! Don't give up! My surgeon had to do peer to peer to get my sleep study approved. Basically the surgeon has to talk to the medical director at Cigna to discuss and then the surgeon's office should resubmit the paperwork. First thing I would do is call the surgeon's office and ask if they sent those papers. If not, it may be that they can easily resubmit that without peer to peer. Stay on your surgeon's office to get that done and if phone call still needed, find out what day and time so you can follow up to see what the outcome was. I know it seems devastating but it's not over yet. Good luck!! Hang in there!
  13. Don't let the kidney stone be the thing that puts you off. I actually passed 3 before 1 week post-op. (1 in less than 48 hours). I think the fluids they pushed in the hospital really got it moving plus the constant sipping of Water post-op instead of my usual guzzling of water. I even had a KUB (Kidney xray) 3 days before surgery and urologist didn't even call to tell me a few on the move. (Would have at least been nice to know that.) Fingers crossed all the other stuff sorts out but don't let the kidney stone scare you from the surgery if you can.
  14. Buckling / tying my shoes - without the ties being on the side of my shoe! My thighs didn't stick out quite as much on the chair at my hairdresser's!
  15. I just went back to work this last week too and while I don't work around food, I did find it a little difficult eating in the lunchroom watching everyone else. But it did get easier throughout the week. Give it some time and see if you can avoid those foods. (You can't physically eat them right now anyway without damaging your stomach.) Hopefully by the time you can move to real foods, you will be satisfied enough that those foods won't bother you any longer. But you are right, this journey is the most important. If you have too much temptation, you may have to look for something else. Meanwhile trust your "tool" and work the program.
  16. It does get better! Can you go to another room or go outside and sit while they eat? Promise it gets easier when you can finally eat something in a week or so - even pureed. Don't eat too early. Wait for your dr to say ok.
  17. @@llovecats so sorry to hear this! Glad you dr is listening to you and looking for the stricture! Seems a lot of doctors ignore this. Hope all goes well!
  18. Ugh! Sorry to hear that. I have not done that yet and hope that I don't BUT I haven't been as adventurous with food as you have yet. Mostly out of fear which I have to get over or I will never be able to eat nutriously!
  19. Don't want you to think I was judging you! I never seem to actually be full until evening but I am too scared to eat too close together. Having said that, I just had something to eat that wasn't satisfying so then I ate a Laughing Cow cheese wedge very fast and was trying to get in a popsicle before I was too full and realized it was too late. Luckily I finally threw away half the popsicle but only because I feared vomiting! Scary that I have the same old habits - like I was fooling someone by eating quickly! (PS - there is no one else here! Why would I be trying to "hide" food? Only from myself! So foolish....)
  20. I don't have sleeve (and I don't have periods anymore for that matter as I had a hysterectomy in 2013); however, I had this issue pre-bariatric/hysterectomy. So strange. I could eat and eat and eat - especially that week! At least now you have the restriction to stop you when it is finally over!
  21. Curse? You might not be getting enough at anyone sitting to hold you off until the next meal, but I would think you are eating a little too close together. I think we are supposed to be waiting 3 or 4 hours in between...
  22. Totally normal. You are mourning food. My therapist said "just stay in the present - just in today". I repeat that to myself often. One thing that helped me (though it might not help you at this stage - everyone is different) is I started researching and pinning (to Pinterest) bariatric friendly recipes I wanted to try when I could. I have been cooking WAY more than I ever have before and enjoying it. PLUS the food lasts forever since you can only have a small amount. check out TheWorldAccordingToEggface.com if you haven't already. She has some great recipes and suggestions and just a good overall blog. Good Luck! You will get there!
  23. If you can hold your nose, you can survive it. It is the smell of Isopure that got me. I took them to work and my co-workers smelled them and one said "oh my gosh, how did they bottle farts?!" Seriously. Exactly what it smelled like. I have had A LOT Of Protein drinks and none of them smell like that. UGH.... I haven't drank them post-op because I can't drink them fast enough to just get them down.
  24. @@kell778 - If your dr gave you a choice to use other Protein drinks, you might check out the Premier Protein ready made shakes. They taste pretty good - both chocolate and vanilla. It's about 11 ounces and 30 g of protein. I have powders and like them as well but find myself going back to the Premier quite often (drinking one now in fact ). helps in getting your protein post-surgery too AND I have been adding Salted Caramel sugar free Syrup made by Torani into the vanilla shake and yummy!!
