  1. Definitely gas. Walk, walk, walk. And I found the Gas-X helped. I also used heating pad on my abdomen which seemed to help (or at least made me think it was less painful!)
  2. Yes. You may be "full". I was on liquid for 2 weeks and only on pureed last 6 days so I am still learning the signs but even with liquid if I drank too fast or too much I would have pain. I ate tuna yesterday and it got "stuck" after a couple of small bites. Intense pain behind my sternum. It eventually came back up and I felt oh so much better instantly. Maybe try slowing down in between bites?
  3. I am 3 weeks out today. It seems to depend on what I'm eating. Usually only getting 1/4 to 1/3 cup but then I still seem hungry. Today I got in 1/2 cup of refried beans and it was a perfect amount! Then at dinner I only got in 2 Tablespoons if Ricotta Bake. I wasn't really hungry (had a shake as snack about 3 hours earlier) but I felt I should eat to get more protein. Probably not the best decision but I did put the dish away after I realized I was satisfied.
  4. I passed 4 kidney stones in the first week. (But I have ongoing issues. They were already there but just got flushed out from all the fluids. Glad you got hold of your doctor to confirm it wasn't the surgery! I know that gives you some peace!
  5. Welcome home! Take it easy and sleep lots tonight! I set an alarm and woke up every 4 hours to take pain meds - just in case - for the first night. Didn't need it at night after that but did use it during the day. The sitting up thing lasts probably 1 or 2 weeks but gets easier every day! Congrats and get in that water! Set a timer for every 5 minutes and sip from a 1 oz medicine cup. (Its the only way I got mine down - even did this with my Protein shakes.) Target 4 oz every hour for the first week. Gets much easier after the first week.
  6. I would love these ideas too! Right now, all I have done is made a batch of Ricotta Bake and opened a can of refried beans to eat on for the week. On TheWorldAccordingtoEggface website, she talks about all kinds of "bites" or tiny crustless quiches. Once I can eat that stuff, I am hoping to make a batch of those so I will have quick breakfasts for the week. If you haven't checked out the Eggface website, definitely do so. She has some great ideas for pot roast, soups, etc. - crock pot meals that can be eaten during the week.
  7. I am sure others will respond, but I have seen many on here say to do the Five Day pouch reset (or something like that). You can search internet for it, but I think basically it is like the pre-op liquid diet which gets you over the carbs and helps you get back on track. Good luck!
  8. Any chance it is kidney stone or hemorrhoid? I had some blood and freaked out (also had hysterectomy) but I finally realized I had a boil that had burst in the area (gross I know - sorry).
  9. UGH! I hate these! Just had one recently and it hurt! So, my remedy has been apply heat (either a warm cloth or a heating pad) and it eases the pain and seems to draw the blood out. I also then apply Neosporin. Not saying this is medical advice, but it has worked on mine to get rid of them in a few days. I SO hope these go away after I lose more weight!
  10. Girl, I am so with you!! (Surgery was on June 4 and 14 pounds since surgery date. Luckily more before that!) This morning I decided I had to put my scale away. I am going to try just weighing in on Thursdays which is the day I had my surgery. Join me in putting that scale out of reach for a while!
  11. I am truly sorry you have had that experience. Know that everyone on here will support you, so if you don't want to tell anyone else - don't. Come tell us! We will give you the boost you need!
  12. Yes! Just talked to my therapist about it yesterday. (I am also 3 weeks out today - same weight loss as you too.) She said it is a totally normal emotion - which made me feel better. Just know it is an emotion that comes and goes. When it creeps up on you, try to stay in the present - focus on right now, today, this meal. Have a popsicle. Go for a walk. Call a friend. Turn the tv off. (I don't recommend watching food Network as I have done ) Emotion is a thing - it has a beginning, middle and an END. This emotion will pass. PROMISE!
  13. Actually I was just coming on here to post how blessed I have been in the support and response from people. Today I was eating in the breakroom at work and someone asked how I could eat just a small bowl of refried Beans (still on puree). I told them I had gastric bypass. There were 4 people in there who didn't know and 1 who did. They were SO incredibly supportive and interested. And these aren't even folks I know that well. I did say "Now that doesn't give you the right to question every bite a take". I laughed and said only my good friend could tell me that. So one of them said they would go tell her if they saw me eating something I shouldn't. They were just joking of course, but seriously, my family has been amazing but boy did I leave their boosted and loved. So, what am I doing? Telling everyone! I am not embarrassed at all and have only had 1 negative response luckily - and I knew that was what she would say. She's not the boss of me, so I don't care! It is certainly an individual decision but I say don't be afraid of telling. Be selective if you feel necessary but mostly you are right, who cares what they think anyway?!
  14. I am in the exact same boat (surgery 3 weeks ago today and same weight loss and same calories!). I actually asked NUT similar today. They want me to use the shakes as "snacks" and said I don't have to stop drinking 30 min before / after if it is a shake. (Just not to drink Water while drinking the shake) and to save the 3 meals for actual "mushies". Struggling here too and looking forward to ideas - mostly struggling with Breakfast. I have tried sugar free pudding cup mixed with unflavored Protein powder as a "meal". Wasn't too bad.
  15. Pain meds will do it too. I am taking Colace 3 times per day - and occasional Milk of Magnesia to get things really moving. first time was HORRIBLE! I cried and laid on the floor shaking. Yes, ridiculous but wow I have never had that kind of pain and I have passed about 60 kidney stones in the last 3 years (4 since my WLS on June 4). My NUT recommended Benefiber or some sort of Fiber supplement too - at least until I can get veggies back in my diet. I saw some post on here yesterday that said it was like passing a Pineapple! HAHAHA! So true!
  16. Mine (Cigna) told me I was covered but didn't tell me all the requirements. Surgeon's office did. Pretty sure you will since you have BCBS. If/when they tell you what the requirements are, don't get frustrated or detoured. All of my pre-op wait paid off in the end. I would never have truly been ready if I hadn't had that 4 months to prepare.
  17. You got this girl! You are well over half way there! You can do it!!
  18. 3 weeks post-op tomorrow. Been on pureed foods since Friday (6 days). I am supposed to be able to have "soft" foods which included tuna, but not sure if I ate too fast, ate too much or didn't chew it well enough but it hurt a lot behind my sternum after about 6 bites and then it did not stay down. Think I'll stick with pureed foods for a while....
  19. If it makes you feel better, I had a charge for my dr's PA also in the operating room. I think it's fairly standard, but if he had previously agreed to the earlier arrangement, I am sure he will honor it and someone at the office just billed you wrong. Hope that is what it is anyway!
  20. I don't have any advice but just wanted to say so sorry. I know that is disappointing. I can only imagine how I would react to that! HUGS!
  21. Just tried tuna. Did not go well. Try Shelly's Ricotta Bake. It's awesome and goes down great.
  22. Totally agree!! It was the 2nd thing I ate on the 1st day I was allowed pureed foods. Yummy!! And I'm not even a huge fan of Italian food
  23. @@lkt997 - Be sure you ask about the taxi. Anytime I have had surgery (any kind of surgery and there have about 10) they have specifically told me someone must be there when I leave - taxi was not acceptable.
  24. Doesn't taste too bad but the smell is AWFUL! I let one of my friends at work smell it and she said "OMG how did they bottle farts?!" She nicknamed it "CocoFart water". UGH. Not sure I can try it again.
  25. Don't be nervous. I have continued to see my therapist. She has been the strongest tool in my tool box. All they are checking to see is to be sure you don't have some undiagnosed / untreated psychiatric disorder (i.e. bipolar, schizophrenia, etc.)
