  1. I out some in plain yogurt the other day with a little protein powder and some sugar free chocolate Torani syrup. It was pretty good! Otherwise yes I use it in my shakes occasionally. It's pretty strong. A little goes a long way
  2. Thanks guys. I really think it is my fault and not a stricture. The thing is when I ate chicken in tortilla soup, it goes down fine. And when I made sure to dip the deli meat in hummus it something that made it moist, it goes down fine. So I think it's just not remembering or maybe understanding how moist the meat must be. I will keep an eye on it though and call the Dr if it keeps occurring.
  3. I don't really need a response. Just needed to vent. So discouraged with getting food stuck & subsequently vomiting when trying to progress food stages. One day something works and the next it doesn't. I think my issue today following chicken was more that I had an issue yesterday and should have gone back to liquids for 24 hours but didn't. I am NOW but tough lesson to learn. Sincerely hope that it isn't this difficult to eat the rest of my life. I need a new strategy. Like maybe limiting myself to only 5 bites when it is chicken or something I know can get stuck? Ugh. Tired, Sore. Going to bed... Tomorrow is a new day.... And yes, I know, "it does get better". At least that is what I keep telling everyone else...
  4. Thanks. I did feel better and then tried chicken today for lunch that I had cooked in the crockpot and same thing happened. So back to liquids for 24 hours and let my stomach rest and try again. I clearly am not getting this lesson.....
  5. Mine wasn't too bad -6.4. I was on Metformin only though on the max dose. Sugars ran a little high day of surgery (up to 190 that I was aware of) but surgeon released me the next day WITHOUT metformin and said to just watch my sugars. My morning fasting runs around 104 and had been closer to 130 per-op with meds
  6. @@LipstickLady - I'm curious if you had to take these meds long term or if it was, hopefully, a shirt term solution. Still struggling with quite a bit nausea off and on myself and while Zofran helps, I'm hoping this is temporary
  7. You need to visit win your NUT and have them review your food log. You may need more or less calories or protein.....
  8. Possibly. I was told to wait until day 15. All doctors seem different though so you need to check they plan they gave you. Have you been released to the next stage of foods?
  9. @@Ashley1213 - Tylenol is fine but be careful if u r trying pill form. Generally no tablets unless crushed (different doctors say different things ). Meanwhile, you don't have to take a full dose if the hydro cod one. I think my dose was only 7.5mls so try a smaller dose and see if that helps. Hang in there. It does get better.
  10. I told everyone and still continue to do so. I am excited about the changes and I too feel beyond blessed at the support I have received. For the couple that don't, I just ignore them. The thought of keeping this secret after hiding in silence about my food addiction all these years was just too much.
  11. meat MUST be moist or it will stick. I seem to have a very difficult time remembering this one. Best plan is to have something to dip it in - hummus, yogurt dip, salsa, something. I was just grocery shopping. There was a sample of roasted turkey. I said no then thought "wait, it's Protein ". Shaking my head....when will I learn...not only had I been drinking so I was full of Fluid, I obviously didn't have anything to make the meat moist. It was only 3 bites, not even half an ounce, but it was a no go. I got thru shopping but nearly an hour later it had to come back up. It hurt too much. Learn from me. Don't take samples from the store - even if it is protein.....
  12. Mostly you won't care. I wish I had taken a heating pad and earplugs. I asked for a heating pad at the hospital nicely many times. After 4 hours if asking my tone wasn't quite as nice. They did finally bring one. (I know the nurses are very busy and overworked and have much better things to do but I felt 4 hours to get it from "supply" was excessive. They will wake you up all night long. They switched my IV machine and it was loud - making an annoying noise every 5 seconds - I counted ????. I asked jokingly if they had ear plugs and the did and brought those promptly. Probably earphones with your iPod might be a good substitute. It's really not bad. You will sleep thru most of it when you aren't being poked and walking. Be nice to those nurses. As I said, they are very overworked. Good luck! You'll be fine!
  13. Glad u at least heard from someone. Try very tiny sips. Use a medicine cup or shot glass and sip tiny amounts (1/3 to 1/2 ounce) and set a timer for every 3 to 5 minutes and then take a sip. I have to have the timer to keep me drinking when I get behind.
  14. Not sure you have to follow my order. I couldn't remember them in order. Just throwing out some that's know I struggle with post-op and wish I had started sooner! ????
  15. You poor thing! I know you didn't say this to get sympathy but I just had to tell you I am only 11 days ahead of (bypass on 6/4) and if you were to go read some of my posts from 2 weeks ago (especially in reply to "Any regrets" ) you would see I felt very similar though wasn't able to express it as eloquently as you have ????. Take heart my friend. As I turned the 6 week corner things are starting to improve. You are right, it is not easy but I really think there is a light at the end if the tunnel for you.
  16. It was 6 weeks for me this last Thursday and I feel I am starting to turn a corner. I have heard several say 3 months was a but of a magic number for them. I keep telling myself that I am halfway through that!
  17. Ditto. My therapist is my best tool. She knows me WAY better than the surgeon, or surgeons office staff or NUT. She has walked thru this with me every step of the way and I don't know how people do this without a therapist. Ask your surgeons office to recommend a few and then read about them and interview them on the phone to see if you need personalities with one. Don't beat yourself up. This happens to a lot of folks. It truly isn't sheer willpower but it is using the tools the therapist can give you in combination with your sleeve. And definitely call your NUT and have them review your actual food log from the past week or so and see if the can give you some suggestions of what to change. Sometimes we need to confuse our bodies a little as they get too used to routine so more calories one day, less anothwr, different workout, etc. You got this! Look how far you have come!
  18. Best advice I got from my NUT pre-or was just try changing habits. So for 2 weeks just tack your fluids and make sure you are getting 64 of, then add a habit the next 2 weeks get in the habit of now fluid 30 minutes before during and 30 minutes after a meal. Then maybe eventually slow timing your bites 1 minute apart and stop eating at 20 to 30 minutes, track food intake everyday, walk 30 minutes everyday, etc. Also use the time to cut out caffeine and carbonation. If you can build up the habits now, post-op eating will be much easier and if you lose weight in the meantime per-op great.
  19. Moving is good but don't overdo it. Your body repairs itself as you rest so give it at least sometime to rest. As my mom said "you don't have to close your eyes but you have to lay down and rest for a little while and have some quiet time" ????. For what it's worth, I felt pretty good in the first week or so (despite passing 4 kidney stones) but weeks 3 and 4 hit me hard. I went back to work a little too early I think.
  20. Yep. I was hungry too but even if you have had acid reflux before it could be presenting differently. A Zantac helped that hunger pain considerably for me and there was another post a few weeks back on same issue where Zantac helped a few others. Might be with a shot.
  21. Not the worst I did but Jess reminded me I would order 2 chicfila chicken biscuits and 2 drinks so they wouldn't think both biscuits were for me. Or , on more than one occasion, I ordered breakfast at one Chicfila, polished that off and then drove thru another Chicfila to order another breakfast and I would hide my drink so they wouldn't know I had just been.
  22. Yes! And it didn't start until 3 weeks and the constipation was horrible! I was given Zofran and it definitely helped the nausea And at 6 weeks out it is much better so I think it is sort of a 3/4 week thing. I even went to Acupuncturist and that helped a lot. Since it is the weekend, and you may not have heard from Dr you might try those seasick/nausea bands (do you know what I'm talking about - they go around your wrist and have a knob on them that presses on a certain spot in your wrist that is a pressure point). I didn't try them but was headed to when it mostly resolved. (I have known pregnant women to use them for morning sickness.) Also someone suggested starting the day with warm water with lemon or warm tea. It didn't really work for me but has for others. I also used Emmetrol which is basically like flat soda. It's high sugar so I don't know that I would recommend it for everyone but luckily I did not dump win it and it did help. (Find it near Pepto generally on the very bottom shelf or very top shelf - always have to hunt for it for some reason) Truly sorry ! I was hating my life and hating my decision but I have turned a corner now so trust that it will improve. Just be really patient with yourself. If you cannot hold down fluids, it becomes and emergency so be cautious not to get dehydrated.
  23. I really liked the Dannon LIght & Fit Greek Key Lime flavor. Also, one time I added a teaspoon (I think it was a teaspoon) of the sugar free Fat Free Jello pudding mix (cheesecake flavored) to my Fage 0% and a little Sugar Free Raspberry Syrup (Torani). It was pretty good. A little too think so I think I would use less pudding mix next time. Tomorrow I want to try a little PB2 and some chocolate Jello pudding mix - or chocolate Protein powder (which sounds pretty good too).
