Well it looks like I won't be a Shrinking Shamrock after all. I finally got my approval, only to find out my surgeon is on vacation until 4/1. :thumbup: Good luck to you all and I wish you long, healthy lives.

I was still hoping to be banded by the end of the month, but Dr Edwards is on vacation till 4/1. I'll see him then for my final consult and get my surgery date.

Congratulations!!! We'll both be losers soon.

Mary called this morning and said I've been approved!!! Dr Edwards' office will call me tomorrow to schedule the final consult where he will set the date for surgery. Happy happy happy happy!!!

I work till 8:00 so I can't make it to the meetings. :-(

I called Aetna this morning to see how they're doing on the approval and was told they denied it on Friday. The man I spoke with told me they didn't receive the doctors notes or any of my medical records. I called Mary and she got in touch with them. She'd faxed them 76 pages worth of notes and records and the person she spoke with confirmed they got them. It turns out all that's missing was 2 pages of doctors notes, so she refaxed them. So it's back to waiting.

No, nothing yet :glare:. I'll give them till next Monday then start calling. I'm a very persistant person. So how did things go with the dentist? Is the root canal and crown finished? Waiting is hard. It's been 1 week since Mary subitted my final paperwork to Aetna. I know it will take more time to get an approval, but I reeeeeealy want an answer now. I even started the liquid diet last Thursday so that when the approval comes in maybe I can get in for the surgery sooner. Do any of you have Aetna? If so, how long did it take for you to get your approval after the final paperwork was sent in? Happy Monday!

I use Calorie-Count.com. I can log my food (and tag things I eat on a regular basis), keep track of calories, protein, fat, carbs etc. I can also log my excercise and keep a graph of my weight loss. It helps determine how many calories you need to consume each day to meet your weight loss goals.

Prices vary depending on location. At St Johns in Springfield, MO, self pay is 17K for lapband and 26K for bypass. The 17K includes one year of fills.

I finished the last of my insurance required Dr/Nut/Excercise appointments last week and the final paperwork is being submitted to Aetna tomorrow. I'm crossing my fingers and toes that they will approve quickly but the patient coordinator says Aetna is the slowest company to respond so it may be 3 to 4 weeks before I get an answer. If they take too long, it might be April before I can be banded.

I'm already part of the February Excercise challege on the OH board. I'm working on at least 1000 minutes of excercise this month; 175 completed so far.
