  1. If you're not uncomfortable, you may not have anything in you. Between (most people's) preop liquid diet, and post-op liquid diet... liquid in equals liquid out. Nothing to poop out.
  2. At 3 weeks out I was not allowed meatloaf, pureed or not. My purees were mashed potato, cream of wheat, things like that. Maybe slow down on the beef and go for some things that will be easier on your system for a while. And just because the scale isn't moving doesn't mean your body isn't changing.
  3. We really should take scales away from people for at least 30 days after surgery (me too - I was obsessed!). Knowing the number or not knowing the number should have no effect on your behavior for at least the first month (I'd say longer, but let's get real). Meaning, you will eat/drink the same way and exercise the same way whether you've gotten on the scale or not.
  4. Ask your surgeon. I talked to my surgeon about it at my pre-op appointment, and told him I wanted one. He laughed and asked me why (he didn't always use them). I outlined a scenario where I'm struggling to get out of bed, can't make it to the bathroom in time (I was on diuretics at the time and peeing frequently), pee on the floor, slip in it, fall and break an arm. I got the catheter.
  5. Well, just so y'all know, in case you didn't already, I'm only here to ogle the hawt guys, and when I'm feeling down, to get a pat on the butt back. And to throw out the phrase "beg your pardon" every now and then, since that provoked an epic rant the first time I did it.
  6. August 8, 2015, surgery day. 403 pounds. July 8, 2016, eleven months. 229 pounds. Wow. Just. WOW. I truly thought I would fail. Never thought I would see size 18 again. WOW!
  7. It's why I don't post much anymore.
  8. @@Oregondaisy You may have to go for an old-school antidepressant, like an MAOI inhibitor, if the SSRIs don't work for you. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor about a different medication. I take Prozac, which despite its bad reputation, is effective for people who tend to fixate on things that they should be able to let go, and/or obsessive behaviors. Aside from crying for no particular reason, that was one of my major symptoms.
  9. Just shows you how different all of our plans are. My clear liquid was clear fruit juices diluted in half with Water. No Gatorade, no sweetened tea, no honey, no sugar, nothing like that. After the clear liquid phase, I couldn't have fruit juices any more. The point of the juice was that was all the carbs I was getting.
  10. My kid told me this one today. Where do you find a dog with no legs? Exactly where you left him. *************************** And another: Why did Sarah fall off the swing? Because she has no arms. Knock knock. Who's there? Not Sarah.
  11. I turned onto my side when I woke up from surgery and haven't looked back. It was far more painful to be on my back than on my side.
  12. My family and my boyfriend's family are meeting for the first time. We all (me, the boyfriend, his wife, their two kids, my kid) are going to a Water park on Saturday. My daughter (12) knows about my poly life; they just told their older one this week (she's 13), and her response was "whatevvv". Her biggest concern is that my daughter won't like her. Two years ago at this time I was about to go on my annual vacay to Florida, in a first class seat (because I didn't fit in a regular one). This time last year I was counting down the days to surgery (August). This year, I'm counting down the days to Florida again, 170+ pounds lighter.
  13. What is your insurance company's official, printed policy on WLS?
  14. I met with my surgeon at my first visit, and he recommended the sleeve and gave me the reasons why. Who is recommending a specific surgery if it's not the person doing the surgery? It sounds very assembly-line to me. I would not be comfortable in your situation.
  15. I was sleeved August of last year at age 51. I'm almost 11 months out now, have gone from 403 pounds to 232 pounds, and I'm doing great. The only moment of doubt I had, that I can remember anyway, is waking up in the recovery room, hearing some beeotch moaning like crazy, wishing she would shut the f*** up, and then realizing it was ME! At that moment I thought, "oh my god, what have I done". Then the morphine kicked in and I was fine. I can't think of any regrets I have, other than wishing I had done it 20 years earlier (but hey, our experiences make us who we are). That, and I'm not happy with my deflated "parts" but I plan on plastics in the next year or so. Last weekend I went to a pool party that became a "clothing optional" event after dark. Most of the people were skinny-dipping by that point, but I just couldn't do it, not with these saggy tatas. Sad because I would have done it at 400 pounds. I felt pretty good at achieving wearing a bathing suit because my saggy thighs were threatening to cause a tsunami.
  16. Here, let me help you. More potential here:
  17. You're not sorry! And I see nothing to indicate there might be wild passionate screaming! HAH!
  18. You posted this in two places, and I'm answering in both. Call your surgeon's office now and tell them. Your surgery WILL be cancelled.
  19. @@4MRB4PHOTO I am sooooooo disappointed in you. Sigh.
  20. You're supposed to have surgery tomorrow. Please tell us you called your surgeon's office and they cancelled your surgery. Generally, they will want you to wait for at least one year after surgery to become pregnant.
  21. You mean you have more than the one ey.... uh... never mind.
  22. I think you can give @@Dub and @@OKCPirate and @@BigViffer a run for their money in the "studmuffin" department. Just sayin. Yes, I know I've forgotten others. Sue me, I'm old.
  23. I make the spinach dip recipe from the back of the knorr Soup mix package, let it sit in the fridge overnight (or at least a few hours) to soften up, then use it to stuff cleaned raw mushroom caps. No worries about anyone double-dipping into a common dip bowl.
  24. I refuse to go through the scanners for a lot of reasons. I say "I have a medical issue" and ask to go through the metal detector instead.
