Found out I'm pregnant before surgery

Recommended Posts

I am suppose to have surgery June 30th 2016 gastric sleeve I took a pregnancy test and found out I was 4-5 weeks pregnant. Would I be able to get surgery or will it be cancelled. I did all my pre op testing and blood work and urine test a couple weeks ago so is there a pregnancy test before surgery? I am confused on what to do.

Congratulations.

Have your surgeon and obstetrician discuss this ASAP.

It is pretty likely that your surgery will be cancelled since they test you for pregnancy right before the surgery because you will just not be getting enough nourishment to provide for yourself and child. Congratulations on the baby!

Congrats!

I have my tubes tied and I had to still take a pregnancy test. I am sorry but your surgery will be cancelled. No reputable doctor would operate under the circumstances.

You posted this in two places, and I'm answering in both. Call your surgeon's office now and tell them. Your surgery WILL be cancelled.

I wish you and your baby the best and you will be able to get the surgery at some point your child is born. Remember your dr and insurance company has all of info and documentation so you won't have to start from scratch.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
