NaomiAus got a reaction from wantingabetterlife in So, I did the math, after 4 months post surgery
Also, don't compare your weight loss to that of your friends, everybody is different so every body is different. We all loose weight at different rates, there is no universal number. Concentrate on what your loosing, that's the only number that matters

I tell everyone, and if they don't like it they can go suck it, I'm doing it for me not them. That being said I have only had overwhelming support from people I've told.
It's up to you who you tell and if you tell people, there is no right answer, it is a very personal thing so it is completely understandable to not want to tell people.
Like other people said, if you are not wanting it to become public knowledge, be very careful with who you tell, you can't untell people

NaomiAus got a reaction from jane13 in What was the final straw to decide this?
It's always been something that was in the back of my mind but I always ignored it thinking it wasn't something for me.
My wake up call was when I discovered I had hypertension and at 26 I knew I was way too young to be on blood pressure medication. I hope that within a few months of surgery and eating well and exercising I'll be off my medication.
Oh and the daily battle with lower back pain helped with decision too.

It's a great idea, I've got my sister, who has never been a big eater and it's great because we pretty much like the same things

NaomiAus got a reaction from OKCPirate in Outside of being healthy, what are you looking forward to most...
Way too many to list them all, but for a few; shopping and clothes, traveling (the whole plane seat thing as well as having the energy to actually DO thing while traveling), I have always wanted to sky dive or bungee jump, not declining invitations to go out just because I don't want to be seen the way I am, not always being the driver when going out because I know that my seatbelt fits but others might not, not being exhausted after very little exertion, going to the beach in summer, like I said, way to many to list at once.

My husband is my food buddy. He had a bypass 9 years ago, and although he can pretty much eat normal portions now, since I had my surgery we split our meals at restaraunts. It keeps him in check with his portions, and helps our wallet. Win win!

NaomiAus reacted to LipstickLady in So...a water park happened...
For the first time since my surgery, I took my kids to a Water park.
First and foremost, I was always one of those fatties that forced myself to "keep up" with "normal weight" people so I never visibly showed how hard it was to walk the park and climb the (freaking endless) steps to the tops of the rides. That said, by the end of the day, I used to be so exhausted I didn't want to move the next day.
This time was SO MUCH different. Never once was I out of breath. Never once did I dread squeezing my ass into a tube. I wasn't the fastest down to the bottom and my thighs didn't rub themselves into misery just because I was wet and huffing along with the group. lunch time wasn't an absolute RELIEF like it used to be -- instead, it was just lunch.< /p>
I am fairly certain I looked fine in my swimsuit and I wasn't the slow one in the group. There was one ride where the entire group had to step on a scale to ensure we didn't surpass maximum rate for the tube and I didn't sweat it for a second. In fact, I happily jumped on the scale and didn't think twice about someone seeing my weight.
I am no longer "new" to the WLS experience, but this was a great thing. For real.
