  1. The health halo effect is when people go to what they deem to be healthful restaurants, and tend to overeat because they think they're eating healthy. Subway's 'health halo' can lead people to consume more calories - USATODAY.com
  2. big dawg you'll be starting you pre op diet soon. good luck:thumbup:
  3. Not menu suggestions but a few suggestions none the less. Maybe find a new Dr. who will support you. Go to support groups. Even if you don't get something that night you might meet someone you can add to your support system. A band buddy. Perhaps a few therapy sessions to get to the root of your eating, or nutrition sessions to get guidelines for better eating. Exercise is half the battle and you have that down. Good luck.

    You go girl!!
  6. big dawg how are you doing?
  7. Ellen11703 After I jumped through all the hoops and got insurance on board I heard about 10 days later. I had to wait 2 months for surgery date because my Doc(powers) went on vacation for a month. Don't be afraid to call you are the client.
  8. I was banded 3/4/08 and have lost about 15lbs since surgery but about 40 since December.
  9. I live on Long Island NY(transplanted from northern CA). I live with my husband Ken and our Chesapeake Bay Retriever Sabrina. My husband has 2 sons ("my boys" :frown:)30+32, they live on their own. I'm the CFO of a financial planning/pension company.
  10. Fenton you mentioned shrinking your pouch. Check out this link: Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test The whole site is pretty informative. Living After Weight Loss Surgery I think you should go have one of those hot stone massages for losing 10% of your total. Not a nifty new toy but nice all the same. Harley- LOL For a quick lunch I like the Sunkist tuna medley. Spiced up tuna in single serve portions with a few crackers. Just enough. I think there are 5 flavors. Between 200-250 cals.:frown:
  11. Do you have that helmet with the walkie talkies in it?:confused2:
  12. Only visit the more negative threads when you are strong. I don't read them anymore. If I have a problem I will post to get support but Im not going to go looking for trouble. Best of luck on your journey.
  13. Hi I was just poking back through you posts and noticed that you did a triathlon. Me too! Many moons ago. It is my goal to do it again. Good luck on your journey!
  14. Harley My best friends husband has a big hog of a motorcycle. I think it's a Sportster. Where ever I travel I get her a tank or Tshirt from the local Harley store. Me, Im scared Sh*tless to ride those. But they sure are pretty!! I was the one who posted about the guidelines. Here they are again. Early post op:1 month=~500-600 cal/~60-70g pro/carb~80/fat~6 Rapid loss:2-6 months=~800-1000 cals/~70-80g pro/carb 80/fat~25 Stable loss:6-12 months=~1000-1200 cals/~80-90g pro/carb 100/fat~30 Beyond 12 months: cals=1200-1400 pro=75-90g carb=135-160g fat=25%(35-42g)-30%(40-47g) (so says L.Gentile, R.D.)
  15. Not sure this is a band victory but my husband surprised me with a trip to Bermuda today. He said it is a reward for all my effort and hard work. You gotta love that guy.
  16. Today my husband surprised me with a trip to Bermuda. He said that he is so proud of what Im doing that he wants to reward me for all my hard work.:wink2: I think it is wonderful because it is four months away and I will be needing a boost by then, and new clothes. What he doesn't know is that all my summer stuff isn't going to fit and I will be needing to shop for stuff to wear. Woo Hoo. Win Win. (edited 4/8) After thinking about the trip some more,(not that I want to be negative but) it's kind of sneaky, it sounds more like a motivator then a reward. I mean now I really HAVE to stick with this and meet or exceed my goals. He knows I want to look good on those pink sand beaches.:crying:

  18. enjoylife-WAY TO GO!!!!! I did a little extra dancing for the exercise. HarleyGirl-Shop? What shop? I love shopping. Kerri- I see it in your face and arms too!! Those who are red and itchy- a little benadryl cream maybe? i've been using silicone scar sheets. Keeps the skin moist and is helping with the scars staying flat.
  19. Hi all. first Fenton- thanks for the shout out but I was fine Saturday. I even figured out what I ate(to a point) and logged it. I thought I drank alot but husband said I only had 3 drinks all night(5hrs), I guess the booze affected me more. Now Fenton go see if its raining cause I have girl talk. Anyone else do this? For a while I refused to buy new bras, I just suffered with pushing out of the ones I had. Well I can firmly say I now refit in them. A blessing and a curse. Why is it always the boobs that are the first to go? Lisa I hope you are BBQ free today. I agree with the other posters. Is your sister heavy? Maybe just being open with your new house mates would be helpful. Your health outweighs their comfort. At least for now. OK now Im off to my first Hindu Wedding and more Indian food. I will try to control myself. Since it is Sunday no drinking too. TTFN:tongue2:
  20. Hey all. I just got back from a Garba for my Indian friend that is getting married on Sunday. Wow! I've never been to anything like that. Dancing, eating and drinking . Ya I did them all. a bite here and bite there. Too much drinking. Alot of dancing!!!. Im tippsy and happy and probably not going to like myself in the morning. I don't even know what I ate to log it. O well I had quality of life!!! Night all. A
  21. sorry about the dog, that was not easy for you (or you daughter) Anything can be mushed. Your not stuck with mashed potatoes. I whirred up some lasagna and it was great. Just don't try blending al dente pasta. If you have unflavored protein powder(unjury) add it at the end of blending to anything to up the protein. Good luck.
  22. someone called me radiant today.
  23. This is a lifestyle now. Remember you aren't dieting anymore. (Diet 4 letter word BAD) I just used the martini to give you a virtual toast. Cheers!
  24. Fenton you had me at Zazu Zest.
