  7. Pylera formerly Helizide Generic Name: biskalcitrate potassium, metronidazole and tetracycline Date of Approval: September 28, 2006 Company: Axcan Pharma Inc. Each Pylera capsule contains biskalcitrate potassium (140 mg), metronidazole (125 mg) and tetracycline hydrochloride (125 mg). The U.S. patent on the Pylera capsule technology expires in December 2018. Pylera Information from Drugs.com Treatment Treatment for H. pylori infection is always part of a multiple-treatment strategy to treat the disorder caused by the infection. Antibiotics Your doctor will most likely prescribe a 14-day regimen of two antibiotics to eradicate H. pylori bacteria. Common combinations are: Clarithromycin (Biaxin) and amoxicillin (Amoxil, Trimox) Metronidazole (Flagyl) and amoxicillin (Amoxil, Trimox) Metronidazole (Flagyl) and tetracycline (Sumycin) It's important to complete the full course of prescribed antibiotics as directed by your physician, even when you're feeling better. Failure to follow the treatment guidelines may not completely eradicate the infection and increases your risk of antibiotic-resistant strains of H. pylori. H. pylori infection: Treatment - MayoClinic.com I googled H. pylori and found these. As you can see the med is not old it was approved in 2006 and doesn't go off patent until 2018. I think your pharmacist just didn't have it in stock and said the first thing that came to his head. drug has website Axcan Pharma Inc. - Pylera Home Page It sounds like it was caught in time and hasn't caused you any problems. Good luck.
  8. I can't say enough about this stuff. You don't have to worry about the taste because you get the unflavored and mix it into whatever you do like. Fat free chocolate milk, juice, flavored water, pudding, jello, soup anything. Really. Gives you the protein but not the fat. On the run I like the premade Muscle milk light. There is alot of information and support here at LBT. Welcome:thumbup:
  9. Banding on 3/4 with Dr Powers (Dr Geiss's partner). Has anyone been to their support group for banded patients? Are there any other groups around besides the one Ron runs? thanks.
  10. I've been reading on other threads about people catching flack about getting the band and how they should just do it the natural way. I'm sick of this comment. Do people catch flack for having a C-section or using epiderals? You never hear "you're cheating, you should have done it the natural way." In vitro: "You should just live with the fact you can't have kids if you can't do it the natural way" Sorry just had to rant.
  11. This stuff is great. At Welcome to the UNJURY Homepage. They have unflavored that you can add to anything. Your regular soups, juices, puddings, jello, sauces anything. They have flavors too. The protein count is high and the fat is 0 & only 80 calories. Do what you have to lose, then work yourself back to regular foods when you're ready.

there are always risks. but there are risks to being fat too.
  13. Deep breath. Talk about how you will always love him. You aren't going anywhere, just the fat is leaving. Give him time to wrap his head around this. Don't lecture. Just support. He's stressed too.
  14. The food log is probably for the dietitian and psychologist. They will be looking to see if you are a snacker , portion control issue or binge eater. The band works best on portion control issues as you can just snack through the band and still gain weight. Binge eating is psychological and they might say you will need counseling before/after the band. that being said I think you should start changing your eating habits now. It's never to early to show your commitment to a new way of life.

Keep racking up those good days! The scale will tilt in your direction in more ways than one.
  16. After a surprisingly good nights sleep I've accepted the invite to "hang with" my friends (it just happens to be in a restaurant) I have to learn to not put food in the forefront of social situations. Lesson learned: It's the friends not the food.

  18. Thanks Mel I think I will treat myself to a new set of JP's to take to the hospital. Retail therapy.
  19. I have accepted the invite and am looking forward to the company not the food. Thanks!:w00t:
  20. I have a dilemma. I'm 4 days from being banded, on the liquid diet and sticking to it for five days now. A couple we haven't seen in a while has asked us (DH & I) to dinner. We love these people. Alot of fun to hang out with. They don't know about the band and I don't know if I want to share. The problem is whether to go or not. My husband said it is up to me. Do I go and order soup and say I'm nursing a bad stomach. OR just order a healthy meal and eat a little bit? OR If I say no then I'm limiting my husbands social life and I don't want him to resent my choice of the band already. Help. Any opinions?
  21. I'm down to 4 days now. All week I was just "off" at work. I was occupying space, putting on a good show but really didn't get much done. That will bite me in the butt when I get back because I'm the only one who does what I do. My desk is going to be FULL when I return. I usually am more on the ball when I know I will be out of the office. I have to let that go. My mind can't really focus on anything. I keep shoving down my worries on the band. I've done alot of research on the band and my Dr. I know what I'm getting into. But still. I've never really been sick, never hospitalized. The idea of being told to "stay" just isn't sitting with me. I wish this could have been outpatient. I know some people have had it that way but it's not available around here. I'm freaking out about the catheter, having to take my wedding ring off, about staying overnight, about having an IV in so long. Getting my period, which is not due but everyone says will happen anyways because of stress or the Heparin. I will not wear that gown walking up and down the halls. It's all little stuff, but still... On top of this a couple we haven't seen in a while invited us to dinner tomorrow night. They don't know and I'm not sure I want to share. Do I go and have soup and say Im babying a bad stomach? If I say no then Im limiting my husbands social life. I don't want him to resent my choice of the band already. Ok that's enough. I'm going to have a hard enough time getting to sleep already.
