March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
Scrappy I think it is because the food sticks around longer(in you) then the liquid did. So that couple of pounds is solid food. Happened to me too. scale started going down again in a few days.

The info the nutritionist gave me said: 1st mo. 500-800 2-6 mo. 800-1000(rapid weight loss) 6-12 mo. 1000-1200(progressive weight loss) beyond 12mo. 1200-1400 What rapid and progressive weight loss are I don't know. Is it 5 lbs a week 1lb a week. Healthy weight loss is said to be between 1 and 2 lbs a week, more then that and you start getting problems with malnutrition, gall bladder problems, hair loss and your skin hanging too much (not shrinking back). Im not sure why the 2-6 mo is considered rapid unless it is because it is reduced cals. On the boards folks talk about not losing steadily/getting upset about not losing at all until some restriction/the sweet spot is found and that can take quite a few fills. Seems everyone is different.

Scar Stages Share yours!
arnica montana is for the bruising after the surgery. I used it and had wonderful results. scar gels/creams with aloe vera are great for the following months as you heal to help keep the scar from raising.

Are you keeping your band a secret? How many people have you told? If you haven't told a lot of folks, do you think this will diminish your support? I have been really thinking about this lately. I have not told most of my friends/family. The ones I have told have been very supportive. I wonder if Im holding myself back from further support by not sharing this news. But then again I don't want to deal with the possible one that will be a downer. (I don't have one in mind, but there is always "the one") Just wondering.:confused2:

kerri you can take the strips off at about 2 weeks. The adhesive can be removed with liquid bandage . I found it at CVS. Just goop some on the marks and then wipe it off and wash with soapy water. All gone!

It's been a while
Hi all. Work has been a bear, so I haven't been posting. I saw my Dr on the 21st and he cleared me for solid food. I asked about the mushy phase and his reply " you're a smart person, chew until mush then swallow. Unless you want to puree your food" Ive been enjoying food again. Ive found that I really cant eat more then a cup of food. Im keeping the protein up (60gm) carbs low & cals low(under 800) and taking 20-30 minutes to eat. I still have to pulling sensation under my port, but Dr said that is muscle healing. Im getting most of my water in. Ive found if I drink 20 oz on the drive to and from work that really helps. night:sleep:

Hi all. Work has been a bear, so I haven't been posting. I just read the 15 pages I missed. So many new bander. Fenton I got some of the Gorgonzola dolce . YUM I saw my Dr on the 21st and he cleared me for solid food. I asked about the mushy phase and his reply " you're a smart person, chew until mush then swallow. Unless you want to puree your food" Ive been enjoying food again. Ive found that I really cant eat more then a cup of food. Im getting most of my Water in. Ive found if I drink 20 oz on the drive to and from work that really helps. For those not liking the regular Protein drinks try the unjury unflavored mixed with your favorite beverage. It doesn't add anything to the taste and with 20gm of protein and 60 cals it is a great option. I too got a letter from the insurance co. saying they were not going to cover the overnight stay. I called and was told I am not responsible for the added cost because they have an agreement with the hospital and would be working it out with them. Give your insurance a call and tell them you were following Dr orders staying over and you are not qualified to make the decision to go home. Ok thats it. Night all.

March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
Last night I went to the support group run by the psych Dr and nutritionist. (they are once a month and cost $20) Most of what was said was useless to me (mostly about avoiding stress eating) but one bit of wisdom stuck- when out eating with friends cut all your food up into little bitty pieces first, put fork down between bites, and concentrate on chewing. If you're talking away while you eat you run the chance of BPs. That was good advise. Just though I would pass it along.

chica- try some lactaid before you drink anything with milk. It really helped me on the preop phase when I was having so many milk products. Ive switch to mostly soy milk now.

What?! How? Why?
Nope, you're not alone. HEY---I'm over here:tongue2:

protein powder confusion...HELP!
I love Unjury. You can just by the single serve to try for the taste. Unjury.com It also comes unflavored so you can add it to everything! good luck

Im feeling blue
I read about it here: An "Understandable" Complication (July-August 2000) It is interesting that this is a common thing-post operative depression-yet no one mentioned it(meaning my Dr or the support group). I think Im still depressed but working through it.

Those just banded- don't forget to use the heating pad on your chest and shoulder. It really helped me with the shoulder discomfort. Rhonda-I very proud of you as you were not sure you could make it past the front doors. Way to go!!! Warm vibes, happy thought, good juju to everyone tomorrow!!

Im feeling blue
Ya it probably had something to do with hormones. With the stress of the surgery and all my TOM came 7days early and hit hard. I love LBT. Everyone is so supportive!!!! I can always find someone(or someones friend) who has gone through what Iam going through.

March 4 - LP Day
shoulder pain- I get mine when I have is big capsule (pill)that gets stuck. I then have to drink hot Water and wait until it dissolves. I wonder if this is how it will feel when I have too muck to eat(later on real food). I don't like it and will try to avoid it. You have some very tasty recipes there. I will be on mushies on Friday. I think I will try the mock lasagna. Yummo

bring your Ipod in with you (and have your someone special hold it during surgery). Having it in pre-op and post-op would be comforting.

March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
Now we just need someone on friday. Monday-Rhonda & Special K Tuesday-Harley Wednesday- Lynn Thursday- Busy Friday?? I took PJ's (a top and bottom), robe, slippers and flannel pillow case. Because of the IV I couldn't get the top on. I didn't have the cath so I could wear the bottom. I wore the robe to walk around in, cause the IV was long enough to make it down the sleeve. In bed I put the robe on top of the sheets like a blanket and that with the flannel pillow case made it more comfy. They didn't let me suck on throat drops(said it would mess with the stomach) so I used the spray stuff(under cloak of cover) and didn't swallow. Don't forget to bring your list of meds for the Anesthesiologist. Every morning Im going to send 5 minutes of warm blessings to each of you.
