Are men and women equal....
My husband can lose weight a lot faster. I, on the other hand...lose slowly, especially after I hit my 30's ;(

Using an Endocrinologist as 6 month of supervised weight loss
@@fighton1313 - I used my endocrinologists records as well. he had put me on prescription drugs to help budge the weight (no good). It made me feel light headed and I didn't like them.

BCBS Fep WAITING! How long does this take?
I am not sure exactly what day the p/w was submitted but from last required class on Friday with NUT - figuring a day or two to complete and submit - I would say about 10 days. I received my approval letter 2 weeks to the day of that final class.

How is the attention?
I work in a predominately male area and as an older, 52 y/o morbidly obese women, I get ignored (over looked). When I was thinner, 160-170, and of course younger, I didn't have to <cough> to get someone's attention. Its kind of nice at times because I am not interested in any but my hubby but I see a slimmer (& younger) woman walk by and watch them stop & gawk. Sounds bad but its just human nature. There are a few really nice looking men here and I am not going to lie I notice them. But I think women were raised to not be as obvious. @@leag78 when the time is right you will respond (react) to the attention a little better each time. take your time....

Damn scale!
@@meSparkle83 - you are a scale junkie! So am I. I cannot get it to move under 240. I sooooo badly wanted to be there at the first f/u visit post surgery but NNnnnnooooooooOOOOoo, still 241. I am going to watch my salt intake drink more and maybe bump the calories up a smidgen to see if my stall may break.
-
Half way there!
no prescription drugs? that's awesome. I have lost 25 and have noticed BP is a bit too strong so since I break them in half to swallow I am now taking 1/2. Hoping to kick them to the curb by end of summer!

Fmla and surgery in mexico
I requested the FMLA paperwork because the dr office requested it "just in case". Had to have bosses sign for request. I told them elective procedure (I was taking vacation) and it was for "just in case" for the dr office (they wanted it). I never needed it but didn't want to share my elective surgery until I was ready.

Loss first month
20lbs according to doctors office. my scale weighs me about 2 pounds more than at his other office. I haven't lost anything in the last week
-
The scale...
@@nikkiperezcassar - I just went to first f/u visit with doctor and his scale at that particular office (he has three) weighed me about two pounds less than mine at home. I went home and weighed myself for an idea of a difference if there was one.

What are you eating?
I have been eating a lot of fish as well. I love seafood. I am 4wks out and eating shrimp, chicken, salads, refried beans, thinly sliced lunch meat... I have been getting around 600-700 calories a day.

Ok you guys...tell me -
@@Miss Mac - That what my surgeon was telling me yesterday that most people don't think about those peanuts (almonds, was his example) and how many calories are in them He told me to try to eat 2 meals a day and I could have fresh fruit or raw veggies all day long (chew them well).

Today was the day, and I feel great
@@EnglishDan - I had my surgery on the 6th of May and was walking as much as they would let me. I had a reaction to the anesthesia and was being monitored because of tachycardia (rapid heart rate). I was suppose to go home the following day. I didn't discharge until late that night after my doctor felt confidant that the tachycardia was not being caused by a clot. I ended up doing xray, MRI & cat scan to make lungs, heart and legs were clear. walking is a must!

What's "worth it"?
how I felt about the office staff and most importantly the doctor/patient relationship would be a deal breaker too.

When Could You Eat Salad and Crunchy Vegatables?
I wasn't specifically told to not eat them right now but when I have had them I have chewed the salad to mush before I swallowed. I also had FF dressing & no croutons. Only ate maybe 5-6 small bites.

For the first time ever...
@@4me4them - I have been very blessed with a supportive husband who has started eating better and sharing his more nutritional meals when we go out. I still out weigh him but I am hoping by late July to tip the scales in my favor. he is running around 228ish and would like to get below 200. I think the approach for us is that it is something we do - for each other and for ourselves - so we can enjoy our lives healthier and longer!

20 Months Out- Perfect Blood Tests
@@AvaFern - that is good to hear I am going to f/u appointment in a couple of hours and I am wondering when they will start doing some blood work. I don't think I have been on track with my supplements. too much iron and not enough calcium. I am asking today to get clarification but I would like a blood panel to see where I needed to start.

Waiting for insurance and over eating
oops forgot to add that we all struggle and just because you are now doesn't mean you will later. I hated the liquid post-op diet but I survived it because I wanted to do what the doctors told me. Follow your doctors directions and when you need a sounding board get on-line here and fire off an email:) Good luck!

Waiting for insurance and over eating
@@AWD12368 you may struggle with the Protein a lot of us have at times, esp at first. I was lucky to so far not have any problems other than hydration. I truly eat a small amount (1/4 to 1/2 cup) and I am generally done. we eat out a lot so hubby is cool with ordering a la carte to his meal and we split things like veggies. this weekend was Longhorns and I had a skewer of shrimp (4) a la carte and half of the broccoli and was full enough to have leftovers for lunch yesterday!

Just sleeved Friday may 29
I don't miss the food, I miss the socializing part of it. I had surgery on the 6th and it will pass (hunger). Make sure you are NOT thirsty because it will make you think you are hungry and then you will start to miss our old friends Dorito, Little Debbie and old man McDonalds!
