Weight loss after surgery
@@kitty66 today is my follow-up and I will be 1 day short of 4 weeks post (I was sleeved 5/6/15). I have been at a stall for 5 days. It happens, I have lost weight too many times to NOT know this but still.....I am hoping doctor will be happy with my progress. I am working hard for the water in-take :/

QUESTION FOR MY FLORIDANS
@@MzStockton - I had mine at St. Vincents Southside. It was a great experience. Dr. Uchal and his staff took great care of me before and after. I wanted to go to Riverside but I also wanted to be first in that morning for surgery. The best appointment for that was May 6th 2015. No regrets! I have BCBS federal employee (spouse), had 3 classes (one each month) and a nut & psych appointment as well. I had medical documentation showing numerous attempts at prescription weight loss. Paperwork was submitted third week in March and approval paperwork rec in mail by April 3rd. I had surgical appointment about two weeks later (21st?) and could've had surgery on the 29th because I started pre-surgery diet pretty much as soon as I completed last class in March.

Depressed
@@sjuarez - what about calories? you have to eat a minimum amount and I think we all get wrapped up in protein and SF and forget we do need a certain amount of calories in our diet.

Hair loss
@@Gladys62 - this is my only fear post-op. My surgeon said it is normal and most everyone loses hair. It should stop after about 3 months. I have started looking at hats!

4 days post op. Having troubles
don't lie down it will make the reflux worse. You may want to elevate your bed 2-3 inches and it will help as well. cranberry juice I love but it gave me heartburn if I drank too much pre-op. I mixed mine with apple juice about 50-50. Post-op I still mix when I crave a juice but it is more 40 Water, 30 cranberry and 30 apple. those could be made into popsicles as well. I couldn't stomach the SF store bought ones pre-op popsicles. It was extremely bitter to where I actually wretched two different times. they went straight to the trashcan!

Cold all the time
I have been eating avocadoes since I was on soft food about two weeks ago. I LOVE them! I sprinkle chilli pepper on it and I am going to try it with tuna in place of the mayo prob for lunch today. I have noticed I seem to be a little colder than norm. I guess its the 25lb sweater that I threw away!

My first appointment
@ - make your choice based on YOU. The doctor will probably have an opinion on what he recommends. my doctor said I was a candidate for either band or sleeve. I didn't want bypass. He said it was my decision, love Dr Uchal, and I waffled. My thought was sleeve after seminar. told adult daughter and she said don't do anything permanent. I changed to band. it was also going to be less down time and out patient, which I did like. I decided I needed something permanent and I didn't like the idea of the foreign object in me (and the fills, and un-fills, etc). research and make the decision based on you. back out. do the surgery....it your life. YOU have to adjust and live with your decision. I don't regret my choice at all. I have lost 25lbs probably 25 times in my 52 years and I was done with losing weight (and finding it back on my hips, butt and belly!)

@@Jessica Radcliff - I am one day behind you and also stalling. I am NOT alone!!!!!

Will l feel Deprived ?
@NikkiDoc - I feel the same way about the alcohol, but I haven't done the follow-up to ask, if I do. same scenario though - hot tub, hubby...glass of wine @@bikrchk - I thought I would miss pizza. I ordered one and picked it up otw home from work a couple of Fridays ago. Not my preferred pizza (pre-surgery) it was thin crust all meat. I got the narrowest slice and took a bite from the end away from the crust and chewed it, and then spit it out. I "ate" about 2 more bites and it went in the trash. Havent even thought about another piece since

SLEEVE SURGERY
Welcome to the losers bench! Stay on doctors orders and if you can get off pain meds and use OTC you will feel more yourself sooner. I used a heating pad at night and a pillow to support my stomach.

Nine days post-op and Gaining Weight HELP!
@@Miss Mac - so you stalled at 3 or so weeks post op? That's what I thought the 3 week stall was when I referred to it earlier and was told something different. I am 3 weeks 5 days out and the scale hasn't moved since last Thursday.

Dehydration Question
did you also go off caffeine? I got a headache from that but no pain in the neck and shoulders. are you sweating? the NUT told us if we could pinch skin on the backside of our hands and it go back into place that we are pretty good to go with being hydrated. if the skin stood up and slowly went back down then we needed to hydrate. What about the bathroom? are you going? is it straw colored or dark? I would call the doctors office and in the meantime try to keep something down. I am in florida and it is humid so it can sneak up on you quickly.

Observing, Changing, and weighing my Food outlook, Is it true?
I cant say we all fill full on four shrimp or one forkful of birthday cake. I can tell you about 1/4 -1/2 cup of food is about it depending on the last time I ate. I am 3 weeks 2 days out - Energy has fluctuated for me and I was told being hydrated along with getting in the minimum Protein has probably been the culprit. My doctor said to expect being a little more tired than normal even if I kept up with hydration and protein. He said it is your body adjusting (going into shock) over the amount of calorie intake and that it should pass after about month 4 or so. I do not regret my new sleeve friend at all.

Weight effecting your kids?
my uncle was over at the house with my aunt who had brought me some clothes she thought I would like. I love them both tremendously but both of them make comments that are hard to hear from people who have been my "parents" since losing my mom in 1986 and my dad in 1970. Things like "it was the biggest size they had" to "you may not be able to do____because you are so big" is what I have heard as recently as the first of May. I would be able to handle my 5 y/o grandson saying that I have a big belly (he has told me) because I know he is being honest. I DO have a big belly. But to hear an adult family members make comments like I have heard is hard. I finally said something like this to my uncle "gee I know, tent sized clothing, right?" I think I made my point. I was wearing around a 2X. I know there are larger sized clothes but to roll your eyes and say that to your adult neice? They came over a few days ago - no negative clothing or weight comments

Hello, my name is Jane, and I am.....a scale junkie :/
@@joatsaint I am glad to see "scale junkies" are not just a girl thing. I truly haven't met a guy who would admit it. Even athletes and men who are overweight that I have known over the years wouldn't admit to jumping on the scale three and four times a day. I am pretty good about only weighing post-op in the morning. But if the weight is higher than the day before, I am on it 3-4 times that day, after work. I put "Taylor" out of sight and I am not going to get on it until Sunday morning <hopefully> .

Hello, my name is Jane, and I am.....a scale junkie :/
@@LipstickLady thanks for clarifying the 3 week stall. I have lost weight over the years and of course gained it back and I am familiar with the lose weight...stall (plateau)....lose weight....stall (plateau). I just haven't seen it move in two days and I am seeing "Taylor" more and more. I will keep trying on those tight shorts and see if I can get them up Thanks for your words of wisdom, as always you are good at pointing out the reality of our new life. The scales numbers don't really matter, just good for keeping me on track. Jane
