  1. I make my own and use plain greek yogurt to increase the Protein and cut the sweet. During my all liquid phase I did 2 sweet shakes I made in the nutra bullet and then added unflavored Protein Powder into broth for dinner. That savory made made things bearable. I have no problems blending it into hot beverage. You can't add it over direct heat or it will clump. I either add the powder while whisking after it's in the bowl/cup, or I dissolve the powder with a tiny bit of warmer water and then temper the hot liquids into it. Either way it's completely dissolved and smooth every time. Pretty much any store bought smoothie is going to be high in carbs and sugar and low in protein. I'm on there as Milaxx
  2. I never considered soup a liquid in the sense that NUTs mean. I just considered it a food and treated it as such.
  3. Peppermint tea with a splash of lemon. Sometimes I even add a bit of unflavored protein powder to it.
  4. People heal at different rates. Some bounce back quickly and others don't. As long as you bloodwork is fine and you are meeting your nutritional needs, just listen to your body and get your rest
  5. I had one 10 years ago and was diagnosed with insomnia and delayed phase sleep dysphasia. They had me get one for surgery and it wasn't fun. I did get up 3 times to go to the bathroom and that was annoying. The worse part was the floor of the sleep center had this chevron pattern that triggered my vertigo. By the time I walked down the hallway I had to sit down because the world was spinning. The center recommended cpap but I was suspicious because the resident said I had mild sleep apnea. A few days later the attending called and said I was up too much during the night and they didn't get enough info. I explained I sleep on my stomach, have only 1 functioning nostril due to trigeminal neuralgia from facial shingles a few years back and can't wear a face mask because of the neuralgia. She wanted to redo the test. Insurance wouldn't pay for it so she then tried to set me up with a CPAP machine. It wasn't covered by my insurance so I never got it. Anyway I had my surgery and everything worked out fine.
  6. Regardless they still have to provide you with effective and ending dates. My suggestion would be to call them back and ask them to provide you in writing with when the Healthplus policy ended and when BCBS Healthplus went into effect. If they give you grieve, then keep requesting a supervisor until you get to one who will. This may sound petty but make sure you get the name and note the time when you speak to each individual. In the event you need to appeal, this sort of detailed documentation will be invaluable. If you have a wallet card on the back is likely an address where you can write to and request this information as well.
  7. Actually the parts make it easier. It's getting the glue out that's a pain in the butt.
  8. I have bra strap length locs. They are dyed eggplant purple. At my sleep study she thought it was a weave and was just glooping that glue everywhere. Fortunately I had an retwist appointment coming up. I just wiped as much of it out as I could and the loctician got the rest when I was shampooed a few days later.
  9. Best advice ever! Hello and welcome! I can say without a single doubt this is the best and easiest decision I ever made. I wish I had done this in my 20 or 30's. Instead I had surgery when I was 50 (turned 51 a month later) and my highest weight was 414.
  10. I had to do a sleep study. It's more an annoyance than anything else. They'll put electrodes on your scalp, face and legs. They also put a nasal canula in your nostrils. Nothing hurts but it's a weird feeling trying to get in the bed with a zillion wires attached to you. You can only sleep on your back or side. You go to sleep, they wake you up in the morning, take all the things off, you shower (bring shampoo that glue is a pain to get out of your hair) and send you home. A few days later they call you in and give you the results. If it's sleep apnea they'll set you up with another appointment to fit you with a cpap machine. Typically the doctor want you to have/be on cpap prior to surgery if indicated.
  11. @@Dub - I was just looking into 2 quart crocks. Target has them on sale for $11
  12. Who provides your insurance, your employer? If so contact HR. find out coverage dates for both insurance companies. Then request you medical records in writing from both doctors. Use all of that documentation in the event you need to submit an appeal.
  13. Chewables were temporary for me. Over the course of the year the amount of supplements also changed in response to my bloodwork.
  14. Please try not to let this keep you down. Better to deal with the kidney now rather than it cause complications post op. Hubby may be frustrated at the entire situation, not you personally. 5 hours in an ER will try the best of us. Please encourage mom to get her possible cancer situation taken care of ASAP. As an 11 year survivor I can tell you that many cancers can be cured if they are caught early and dealt with. Time is a valuable tool in battling the big C. Don't let her waste hers. Hang in there. Get this resolved and then move forward.
  15. Agreed. I use compression yogas pants and tops. Also invest in one or 2 good sports bras. I actualy like Lane Bryants from the Ava Viz line. I just buy them when they go on sale. Enell is another excellent brand of sport bras.
  16. @RJ'S/beginning - I am often concerned with the language that people use, especially to describe themselves. You, my friend are not a monster by any stretch of the imagination. You are a survivor. If you want a smoother look in your clothes, buy some shapewear. I There are a thousand different types on the market now for every sort of outfit.
  17. Yes posting in a thread will show up in My Content because it's a record of where you have posted on the forums. That why the one you have unfollowed still show. I'm pretty sure you can't delete items out of it unless that thread is deleted.
  18. Crock pot steel cut oats. I like them but could never get them as soft/creamy as I liked. Then I discovered making them in the crock pot. Nothing fancy. Just plain steel cut oats. 1 cup is enough for me and last for 2 or 3 meals. I like to rinse them before cooking. Dump in the crock pot with enough Water to cover. I toss in a cinnamon stick and a bit of salt. I also add about a quarter cup of raisins or dried cranberries and then an 11ounce container of RTD vanilla Protein powder or a scoop of vanilla Protein Powder dissolved in water. 1 tbsp of brown sugar is an optional addition. Stir well and cook on low overnight. I also made a snack last night that hit my sweet spot. 2tbsp unsweetened shredded coconut. 1 scoop vanilla protein powder. 1 tbsp of water. Blend in nutra bullet until it makes a paste. Fold into half a cup of plain greek yogurt. It tasted like the insides of a mounds. Optional garnshes I plan to try: cacao powder and almond slivers. One of my favorite dinners is black bean, topped with a fried egg, shredded cheese, dice tomatoes, dice avocado and 1 tbsp of greek yogurt.
  19. That's just a record of where you've posted on the forums. I don't think that goes away unless the thread gets deleted. If you no long want to get notification on a particular thread just unfollow that discussion.
  20. Sorry I missed your ticker. I was looking at the info under the avatar. So you went in at 476. First of all, congrats on a job well done. You've done a lot of hard work to get to this point. Secondly let me encourage you to get second opinions and specifically ask about surgery with a high starting weight. I was 412 DOS surgery and I'm nearly a foot shorter than you so I had a lot of weight in a small package. I'm nearly 14 mths post op and down 114lbs from my highest weight of 414. I hope things work out for you. Please keep us posted.
  21. It's not uncommon to see a slight uptick when transitioning from liquids to solids and regular eating. Make sure you are meeting your protein and fluid goals and add in exercise as you heal. The scale should eventually start moving in the right direction.
  22. You might want to consult a second surgeon. My BMI was 73 DOS. My doctor performed surgery laporascopically via robot and had no problems with my liver. If you could loose 100lbs on your own, why would you need surgery? That sound a bit unfair. You don't mention your starting weight or current weight. There are a few forums for people with over 100lbs to lose. You may want to check those out.
  23. It just sounds like you are healing so the tummy is no longer sore when eating. Please do not get in the habit of seeking pain or fullness as an indicator of when to stop eating. Stick to the amount recommended by your program. Either way, you are not at risk of having stretched your sleeve.
  24. The point is to get at least 60 - 100 gms of Protein a day. If you can get that through food then you are fine. I would call the nutritionist and speak with her to try and brain storm how this can best be done for you. I would also suggest trying the unflavored Protein powder. By adding it to the foods you are currently eating you may be okay. I also like adding it to Soup or broth. In fact the only way I survived my all liquids phase was 2 Protein shakes and then soup with protein powder in the evening for dinner. I needed that savory break in the evenings.
  25. @@Dub - IIRC you are also getting in 100 ounces of Water a day no problem which goes back to the point upthread about not getting dehydrated or drinking coffee interfering with your water intake.
