  1. @@CanyonBaby Praying Dave finds his appetite and gains some weight. I will be praying for the upcoming surgery as well. Thanks again for the update, things are looking up, that surgeon sounds like a Godsend ! God bless and protect you both.
  2. @@B-52 Well look at you! Here's to "older" WLS people living the dream!
  3. @@Rogofulm Sorry if I sounded like I wanted to kill the messenger. Forewarned is forearmed I do believe, however sometimes my emotions come into play and I just don't want to hear about the hard stuff. I can do hard stuff! Your information just reminded me that I must do the hard stuff if I intend to be successful long term.
  4. Well, God is good ! What great news! Will continue to pray for you both. Thanks for the update. Take care of yourselves.
  5. I appreciate the information you have posted. I am close to 7 months post-op and was pretty discouraged by the info posted by rogofulm. I plan to print out your post too. I think it will help when I reach maintenance. Thanks for thinking of us and sharing what you learned.
  6. Great progress, you have done well!
  7. I will have to admit when I read this it depressed me. Then I told myself that if I just stick to my program for the rest of my life I will probably keep the weight off, followed by the thought that when it's all said and done, I will still be better off even if I only keep 50% of the excess weight off.
  8. I have been praying daily that the tumor will be minimal and easily removed, no metastasis, and for remission. Praying for good news today. Press on!
  9. Well, if we couldn't stop losing weight we'd all be dead and it really wouldn't be a very effective surgery if that was the end result. As @@Babbs mentioned you will lose the weight if you work at it, following your doctor's plan. We all went through some of those worries legitimate and senseless ones too. You will be fine as long as you have a great surgeon and a good team.
  10. I already owned one of those hand held immersion blenders, which I hardly used. I hated pureed foods so I stayed on the full liquid phase a little longer. Premier Protein (chocolate flavor) shakes are my favorite. I think you made the right decision to go ahead with your surgery. I was pretty much recovered after 5 days.
  11. @RJ'S/beginning I sure hope you get some answers from her. I can't imagine why the specialist wrote that on the referral, you are obviously not obese. I am sorry that word hurt you so much.
  12. You have done well! Enjoy that elation at reaching onederland!
  13. I spent two nights due to nausea and not being able to drink as much as they wanted me to post op.
  14. I hope you have an uncomplicated surgery and a smooth recovery.
  15. I was pretty much back to "normal" after five days. I could have gone back to a desk job after a week. Everyone has a different rate of recovery, so you could go back in a week or need longer it is hard to predict.
  16. Good one,@@Babbs !
  17. Wow! Here's to you schlepping up and down steps with tubes in a swimsuit, stepping on scales in public and having the energy to enjoy it! Happy days!
  18. Imagine being able to walk those two miles as if it were nothing at all! That is where you are headed! Great progress, and you are right, all of this will really help you adjust post-op. You have a wonderful sense of humor- that will also help.
  19. @@Daveo, Ditto all of the above. You have a happy birthday! Look at all you have accomplished this year, you've done well, be proud of yourself.
  20. @@LipstickLady A legitimate question.
  21. Sounds like a very satisfying, enjoyable walk! Kudos!
  22. " Have courage for the great sorrows of life, and patience for the small ones; and when you have laboriously accomplished your daily task, go to sleep in peace. God is awake." Victor Hugo ( don't know what I did above that my post went up before I was finished, probably hit something by mistake) Still praying for you daily, will definitely be specific as to your request above. Remember Jesus' parable about the neighbor knocking on the door repeatedly to ask for bread for his visitor? God knows what is on our hearts and yet...... I think he knows our need to ask and our need to be reassured that He is listening. An abundance of love coming your way from Minnesota.
  23. @@CanyonBaby I haven't looked at this sight for a day or so, so I am late with a response. I agree with a lot of the advice you have been given, so many wise people here. Why is it when a fellow Christian hurts us it seems so devastating? I think because we are all one body in Christ and it seems so pointless to hurt part of your own body. They will need to answer to God for their thoughtless words. On the other hand, none of us is perfect here on Earth, so as others said pray for them and try to let it go. If you still think after things have settled that they need an upbraiding , then by all means tell them how their words affected you and your husband. I recently came across this quote from Victor Hugo and you immediately sprang to mind. "
