I am on the 19th! Kicking the pre-op diet's butt!

oh ill be posting to my blog right from the hospital bed, so check it out and please by all means put in messages and such we can make a great first few days of post op surgery blog party!

@@Luann919 That's the spirit! Good for you, im doing great on my 2 week pre-op also, its hard but we can do this!

I'm scheduled for Monday the 15th. I can't wait.

@@FpJackelyn My surgery is on the same day as yours! I have my final pre-surgery meeting with my surgeon tomorrow! My first 6 days on the pre-op diet I already lost around 13 pounds. Maybe a little more (my scale was weird this morning.) 7 days to go on the diet and then it's surgery day! If you want to text or e-mail I can send you a PM with my contact info. I'm huge on networking and would like to connect and talk to people who are getting the surgery done around the same time as I am or a few weeks before me. I am very very excited and want to share my journey!

I'm excited and nervous! My sleeve is scheduled for 12/17! This liquid diet really sucks but I'm making it and taking things one day at a time. I'm praying we all have an awesome outcome post-op and long term. For me chicken broth tastes better and different flavored sugar-free Jello. I was really weak, dizzy and head-achy today. I want to eat but I am focusing on a wonderful outcome for my future. I'm thankful for being able to talk to others going through the same process.

Im nervously awaiting a phone from my Dr's office regarding approval for surgery. This has been a very long 6 months. During this time I switched insurance so that adds a little extra worry. But I know God will give me the desires of my heart. So I'll wait and pray that I hear something soon. I would love to have surgery before the end of the year, but many have told me there's no way that would happen. I heard some dr's require a 2 week pre-op liquid diet and others said just 2 days pre-op liquid diet.

So today I re-started my Kaiser Options classes today. Last time I went thought the class I completed 4 of the 6 and had to stop due to my divorce finalizing and losing my insurance. I was a little bummed to have to be starting over but I had to be honest with myself...I was going through a nasty divorce, going crazy with nursing school, trying to work out the whole new single parent thing and dealing with looking for a place to live. WLS was something that should have not even been a thought in my mind.

Flash forward a year later my divorce is over and while my ex is still an idiot I have learned to block him out, I am done with nursing school, the NCLEX and found a great job, I have finally gotten the hang of this single parent thing and while it still makes me want to run for the hill some days I am better. I also have finally put my mind to stopping smoking and am now 2 months smoke and patch free (YAY me! lol).

So anyways back to the classes. I love the group of people I am with this go round and the teacher is very straight forward and does not sugar coat. I need that. I started back on my fitness pal and completed the day today "okay" I was spot on calorie wise but admit I could have made better choices...oh well baby steps. Side note ***if anyone want to "friend" me, my user name is Dualstarr. Would love to check out other people logs and have mine viewable to others (kinda keeps me honest).

I am also going to start a youtube channel to track my journey.

@@Dualstarr Congrats to all of it! Especially that not smoking!! Probably helped when you got rid of the ex!

will your surgeons office managers who fight for patients needing approval help?? between them doing their job working for you an you calling yourself to appeal hopfully it will happen!! have you had a sleep study for apnea? (you prbly have) just throwing it out there...hang in there!! my surgery was 5 months ago an I am still getting bills from drs I never heard of from that day..an a dietician who came in the room for 5 minutes an asked if I had questions an I said NO I have a dietician if I need one...thx..Im still calling my ins and having to rerun these bills thru for payment approval. been a pain..I told them listen I had my approval letter, so everything preop and postop NEEDS to be COVERED it all goes together! already had 2 bills go to collections an I hit the roof! told them if they sent another one to collections they would NOT be getting any more money out of me an to get them bills OFF my credit...I was upset..a lil!

Thanks everyone! I put a call in to my doctor's office. Waiting on a call back. I will be appealing their decision, I have come to far to just give up, lay down or sit on the couch. LOL.>_>>_>>_>>_>>_>

@@michellebutrick The appeal process has begun. Spoke with my surgeon's office, my PCP & my acid reflux doctor today. They all are getting their paper work together. I have FAITH, know that this minor setback is for a major comeback. Just praying it doesn't take me a year of appealing. My surgeon told me to keep my pre-op appt for the 18th as scheduled. I had kind of a meltdown a few days before my surgery, even though I had been looking forward to it for over a year, planning for it, taking care of all of the insurance requirements, and attending support group meetings every month. Strangely enough, my biggest fear was how I would deal with the liquid diet that seems to go on forever, and not being able to use food to soothe myself. Now that I am 18 days postop, I realize that the liquid diet is a real challenge for me (though some sail through it just fine), but having my weight drop has boosted my mood so much that I've stopped caring about it. You got some good advice above - take time to think and remember and visualize all the reasons you chose this path, get a massage and a manicure, or do some things that help you slow down and feel more peaceful - they really help.

I think most people do that, it's fear of the unknown. Try not to stress and have confidence in yourself that your making the right decision.

Does anyone else have some sort of anxiety over this? I am so happy that I'm doing it. But then I ask myself, did I really do everything I could before going forward with surgery? I know I did, but why am I questioning myself over and over again!?

I'm inpatient and I want instant gratification. My insurance company basically told me... your fat, go on a diet, not our problem. I went to Mexico and had the surgery done for under $5k.
I'd suggest Mexico to anyone It's cheaper and they got me in quick.
