I have FAITH, know that this minor setback is for a major comeback. Just praying it doesn't take me a year of appealing. My surgeon told me to keep my pre-op appt for the 18th as scheduled. I bought a few cans of progresso Soup last night (chicken noodle), and I strained the broth and heated it. Let me tell you...it was the best thing I have tasted in days!! I can do this!!

I'm going in on the 16th (TOMORROW!!), so I'll be recovering right along with you. Good luck!!

Thanks everyone! I put a call in to my doctor's office. Waiting on a call back. I will be appealing their decision, I have come to far to just give up, lay down or sit on the couch. LOL.>_>>_>>_>>_>>_>
My next post will be Hip Hip Hooray, surgery on the 29th as planned. I have faith!!

I talked to the insurance company this morning, and I was advised that both my husband and I was both approved for surgery. We are so excited, now we have to wait to get a date. Hopefully, we can have surgery before 2015. I can't wait to join the loser bench with my husband. God is Great

Well insanity and all, I got the word a few short hours ago. I HAVE BEEN APPROVED!!!
Tuesday as in 5 days from now, I have the 10:30 am slot in the operating room.
Its amazing I went from angry and depressed to excited then right to scared lol

ok so here's the scoop the insurance company now wants me to have another appointment with my nutritionist of course at the farthest point from my home lol, right away on Wednesday, so we book that appointment and immediately after it I am meeting with the anesthesia team and pre surg team just in case..lol Now here's the good news, the company I work for which I getting bought, is having the buyout delayed for a month, so now I have more time to have this surgery done. of course ill lose all the money in my out of pocket and deductible etc but all in all not a horror show. AND I found out our new benefits will be under blue cross blue shield of Texas which does have my surgeon as an in network provider.. so I would still be able to do all my follow ups. worst case we blow off this insurance company wait until February ( which will piss me off but I would live at least, and we could re-file under the new insurance company. So its not as bad as it was. But we are still hoping to get resolved this week. ill keep you all informed. I truly thank you for all the support.

I was tempted to end my diet last night and grab mcdonalds or something on the way home. But I didn't want to let the insurance company win twice. Yes the peer to peer is tomorrow and I will find out then what my fate will be. I believe I would get the ok if I went though the whole appeals process, it is just that I do not have time to do so. Also my HR person brought up the fact that the insurance company knows I wont be on their rolls again next year and maybe they are trying to save money by dragging out this process until I wont have to bother with them anymore. Which I would not put it past an insurance company to do.

Wait you said you have a peer to peer this Friday so you still have a chance right? You said your surgeon says this is normal to be denied the first time so there's still hope then right? It's only the 3rd of December so as of today you still have a full 4 weeks before the first....Am I missing something here? Are you pre-stressing if so stop that!

As always the pre contact with the hospital just happened where they take down allergies and meds and the whole nine yards about you before you have your surgery.
She implied that my Bariatric surgery had nothing to do with this surgery. I told her she was mistaken. That is when she started to ask questions. Out of the blue she asked if it was all worth it and I said YES. She said then we don't have to talk about it do we. I said I guess not but this surgery is because of the surgery in 2012. Oh she said. I thought you said it was worth it. It was I said but it was not something I planned is it to have s**t left in my a**. she said oh well lets get on with the questions. I said sure.....
But my stomach flipped because it is just one more person in the medical field that is not interested in hearing about WLS. It is like doors slam in my face all the time.
When we were about to end the conversation she asked how much weight I lost. I told her and she said well at least your knees will be happy. I said what does that even mean. She did not answer.....
I really don't like dealing with the medical field in my area since I had my WLS. It is like I am a fly buzzing around their heads and they just want to swat me away.
I am unnerved about this call.

Here is my BCBS story: I really wanted my surgery pre-Christmas as my work has 2 weeks off at holiday time. Mentioned that several times to office coordinator so she said she would submit as soon as possible. My doctor's office submitted on Nov 21. I didn't hear anything for a few weeks so finally called BCBS myself and found out that they had approved it on the 24th, but the computer showed it hadn't been faxed/mailed yet to doctor/myself. So called doctor, said yada, yada, and she said, well, we haven't heard anything and I said well maybe you can call. She said I'll tell my assistant to check on Monday. So Monday came and went, and trying to be patient, but finally last Friday rolled around, and I called BCBS again, and STILL they had not sent it!! So I told THAT lady to send a message to the pre-determination department that day, to tell them I want that thing FAXED that day. She said she would. Then called doctors office to tell them it was coming..............we'll see. Anyway, during all this time waiting, my doc has filled up all his pre-Christmas time slots. So it will be early January. I told office that if a cancellation came up to let me know - I'm following the pre-op diet now anway, just in case.

I had one day of jitters. Well, part of a day. It was the last day of all shakes and everything had been going super. I actually liked the prep diet (for me it was 4 weeks) for the most part, except that toward the end the shakes got to tasting or smelling like Protein all the time. Well, the last night before the 24 hours of Clear Liquids only part, I got to thinking about Moes cuz I used to pic that up on the way home if I had a really late stressful day at work. All I could think about was that I'd never be able to eat a cup of queso and chips due to the size/quantity. It kind of freaked me out because I'd been so excited and ready, but all of a sudden I was worrying over some dang chips and cheese. Thankfully the next morning I woke up with a better attitude and got sleeved the next day.

I was on the same medication and gained about the same as well. Once I got approved I just cried congrats and after the approval it all went so fast I was in surgery within 3 weeks. Good Luck

After six months of eval and nutrition classes ect... my insurance said yes to surgery! I am thrilled! and scared! The surgeon is so busy that it will be the end of February. I have to lose ten pounds before then. Were any of you scared of complications? I am scared of pain, nausea, clots, leaks.. It is going to be the best thing i have ever done for my health. I have been diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis, High Blood Pressure, sleep Apnea, GERD, renewal of my depression all in the last year, on top of gaining sixty pounds while taking prednisone. Let the weight loss begin!! M

I like to compare the first couple weeks after surgery to going through labor. It can be pretty hard going through it, but you know the end result is totally worth it

LOL! You're worried you're going to be "that one person who was regretting surgery the next day"?
Honey, almost EVERYBODY feels like that on Day Two or Day Three. Until that moment this surgery is only theoretical.
And then we remember WHY we let them cut 85% of our stomach out and we move on. In a few weeks we're drinking easier and eating real food and feeling better.

I regretted surgery for about 2 weeks. I think the idea of chopping out my stomach freaked me out because it's such a permanent solution and then I was massively sick for the entire first week. I remember talking to my friend on the phone saying "omg, what if I just ruined my life?". I am now 15 months out, 104 pounds down, and I am 100% happy with my decision, even though I am reminded every single day that I only have 20% of a stomach. So..be prepared to regret it a little at first, but I think for most of us, it ends up being something we are happy with.

I got my approval Friday and now I am waiting for the surgery scheduling nurse to call me to setup my surgery date. I do not have mixed feelings about doing the surgery, I am more than ready. But last night I could not sleep just thinking about surgery and if I was going to be able to handle everything, or if I was going to be that one person who was regretting the surgery the next day. Its a scary step that I know I need, I am ready for a new life style. I am leaving everything in God's hands. I just can't help having all these feelings excited, nervous, and sick to my stomach.

My surgery is on 12/17! Emotional, anticipatory, anxious!
