  1. Sigh. "All you had to do was workout and eat right! Instead you've ruined your health with surgery." Ummmmm. Okay. Pretty sure I'm healthier now. Pretty sure the countless hours I spent in the gym was me attempting to workout and the countless diets I went on was me trying to eat right. This coming from a person who LOVED to come home and bake Cookies if I was dieting.
  2. You are nailing it!!! Good for you.
  3. Sometimes when you post on here, people are going to disagree with you. It's an open forum as I understand. I am sorry if your upset about it! But I do disagree with you. ????
  4. The salt doesn't bother me. I have a hard time with meat too but jerky seems to go down. I have to chew it really well of course.
  5. Please please please do this one thing- find a therapist that specializes in disordered eating. I completely understand why you want this surgery and to lose weight. I know what it's like to feel out of control with weight and eating. My concern for you is I see a lot of similar patterns to myself and I'm afraid the mental toll of so many crash diets may not be something that is going to get fixed with this surgery. This surgery is the easy part, maintianence is the hard part. At some point you'll have to learn to eat normally, not on a diet or trying to lose weight. It might be very challenging for you considering how desperately you have invested in losing weight in the past. I can hear in your post the level of extreme emotions you have tied up in your weight and appearance. I am the same way! I would have done anything to lose the weight. Getting into counseling has helped me get in touch with these feelings and start letting some of that fear of losing control go. Therapy is hugely important in the process and I hope you can do that for yourself! Otherwise, congrats and good luck!!
  6. I'm anti Protein bar myself. They are too much like candy bars, like a candy bar in disguise. Most of them are high in sugars and even the ones that aren't taste like sugar. It's too much of a trigger food for me. I feel that they are food that go down to easily, are chewed up and eaten too fast, and don't really fill you up. They are a slider food to me. I like eating beef Jerky a lot. It's not like a candy bar, takes a long time to eat, fills you up, and is high in protein. Just my two cents.
  7. You 100% should expect to be helped by your spouse until you are feeling better. Sit him down as say- I need to rest, period. My expectation is that you will make this possible. I don't expect to be waited on hand and foot. But you need to see to the chores and children while I recover for the next week. Do it in whatever way you see fit, but do it. I'll be in my room. You have to set standards for yourself and stick to your guns.
  8. Wow! You're definitely going to make goal at that rate! Probably surpass it if you want to!! Good for you, you look lovely. Pretty before too!
  9. Men follow you around in the supermarket. You buy a belt and your best friend shows you that your waist is the same size as her thigh. People call you a "living doll" Everyone keeps telling your the wind is going to blow you away You have hip bones, collar bones... Your butt get sore sitting down because there is no padding. The girl at banana republic insists on getting you a size 0 so it fits right. You can fit in the clothes in the little girls section. You can easily touch your ankle to your butt. You can sit in the back between your kids car seats. The blood pressure cuff at the doctors office won't fit because it's too big. Hahahaha. Yeah. Never thought I'd be this tiny but I do love it!!
  10. 240 to 120lbs. 5'6! I had the sleeve 10 Months ago.
  11. Hahahaha. I just can't let this go I'm sorry. Chewing and spitting out food- for a normal person with a normal stomach- yup. That's weird. Definitely disordered. Perhaps a form of bulimia... Or the beginning of it. K. But in this situation, where a person literally cannot swallow the food because of surgery and they are dealing with massive head hunger and cravings- I don't see how it's so weird!!! It's not bulimia people. Anyway. You don't have to do it. Al I was saying is it helped me get through. I don't do that anymore, not since the first week of surgery.
  12. Hey, I'm just saying what worked for me. I'd don't chew up food and spit it out anymore! It helped me though the worst. I don't think it's eating disordered. One of the things I missed most was chewing. Going from 5000 cals a day to nothing was hard! And temporarily doing this gigot me though it and made it easier. To each their own. And I happened be more than at goal and very heathy in my diet plan at this point.
  13. What??? It sounds like a stricture, have you ruled that out!
  14. Wonderful! You look so young and healthy!
  15. I went through this. Bad!! I was watching a lot of tv which made it worse. What I did was take a few peices of food- I was craving random things like pickles and ham sandwiches, and I would chew it up and spit all of it out. Seriously. This really really helped me and after about another week the urge to do it passed as I lost my food addictions.
  16. I hear a lot of us saying we don't know what to wear now in our new bodies! Let's share what we are wearing and give each other some ideas for what works at goal and on the way down!!! Montage ladies!! For me, it's all about pretty dresses! Skinny jeans!! And something a little sexy!!
  17. I just got on the horse and rode it out!!!!! Ugh. It lasted 5 months. And then stopped. it will end for you too
  18. Excellent, excellent post!!!
  19. Argh. You're probably right. I'm not sure if it's even up to me anyway. Its everything I can do to get in 1200-1500 calories a day as it is... Im still missing about .5 pounds a week. So most likely I'm going to slip down into the 115-120 range wether I want to or not regardless of what I do. I'm just hoping that by the time that happens, my calories will come up higher and I really will reach maintianence. I fully realize I am very thin and have reached my goal.
  20. You're right of course Babbs. It's not healthy to push the limits on how thin one can get! Dropping BELOW the BMI chart lowest weight is no Bueno!! I myself, as I'm sure you know, am working on maintainence and letting go of wanting to continue to lose. But this isn't the discussion we are having. The OP isn't talking about not wanting to be at the low end of the BMI table. She's saying she doesn't want to be within the BMI table at all. She wants to weigh above the recommended weight for her height, to remain overweight by medical standards. Because she feels that even at the high end of the BMI table, people look like "twigs". She is saying she believes the BMI table to be wrong and to encourage extreme weightloss and a body type that is too skinny. I disagree with that, I believe the BMI table to be correct because it's founded in medical science and rooted in health. If the Op wants to remain medically overweight, even after this surgery- that's her decision. But I do not agree that the rest of the posters on here are misguided to want to fall into a healthy weight range based on the BMI table. The BMI table is an excellent guideline for our health and since our goal is health, beyond aesthetics, we should desire to fall within the range recommended to us.
  21. "We are so appauled when girls are anorexic or bulimic, yet instead of encouraging good eating, healthy eating and good exercise, we still promote the STUPID BMI which turns us into twigs." The part that bothered me was this: equating being a twig with being anorexic or bulimic. And I just HAVE To disagree with you. The BMI, at the higher ranges for ones height, does not twig status make! At 145 for my height, I would not be a twig!! Far from it. I would, on the other hand, be healthy. I think the BMI serves it purpose of giving people a goal for health. It's been backed up by medical science and while there are exceptions (rare) we as weight loss patients got into this for our health and should abide by our doctors orders and strive to be within a healthy weight range, looks aside. Now, I'm not trying to be mean or unsupportive. I hear your feelings on the subject and I respect your wanting to look fuller figured than the BMI range would allow. Ultimately of course it's your decision for yourself. I don't think you were trying to be offensive- but I hope you can see how your tone in the post could hurt little twig me. "In our world today we put way too much emphasis on being a size and not enough on being a happy person." I just find this to be a difficult statement for this forum. After all, we are all here because we let our weight get out of control and that stole some if not all of our happiness! Most of us could not live healthy, happy, full lives with our weight out of hand. Being within a healthy weight range is part of achieving more happiness through our health. So yes- being a size matters. A healthy size! Within a range our doctors recommend.
  22. You should be proud of the hard work you have done, especially because losing so can be so frustrating!!! I've seen your photos and you look fantastic.
