  2. I am not a doctor, but when I was researching. My doctor said the band is slowly going away. I also learned that each time you have the band adjusted you might get charged an outpatient charge. In my case it as 200.00 an adjustment. At the beginning there are many adjustments. So if you don't think you will have the money you might want to look at another choice. I sure would hate to have surgery and then fail because I didn't have the money for the adjustments. My doctor suggested the RNY because of the amount of weight I had to lose. I am very happy with my RNY, Hope you find peace in the choice you make!
  3. Six months out and I am feeling great. I am able to do more today then I have in years. I was able shoot a basketball. I haven't done that since my freshman year in High School. I am looking forward to spring. Where I live we have 8 inches of snow right now and it has been so cold the wind chills have been below zero. I am looking forward to planting a garden this year! I am still struggling to eat meat but I am ok with this. There are so many other items that have protein. Wishing you all well !

  4. I had to take chewable tablet to tolerate Protein for the first several months. I couldn't tolerate lactose. I did get past all that. Check your protein make sure its an isolate. Your body might tolerate it better. Also tolerated Protein2 O I got it at Kroger here in my city. Hope you find something that works for you.

    the bakers thread

I play with my ingredients I have mixed 1/2 wheat flour and 1/2 almond and add one extra egg and it helps. I haven't tried all almond flour yet. But I bake without measuring which i know is not good. Almond flour raises your Protein up! Good luck share anything you find that is good. Oh and I used the blended brown sugar with splenda and some regular splenda instead of the sugar.

    How about some NSVs!?!?

My NV I am actually working a second job right now. 1 year ago my husband and daughter did all the shopping because I couldn't stand or walk. I now do 8 flights of stairs. I try to daily but don't always do that. I walk for 15 minutes a day at least. I am the happiest I have been in years. I thank God that the surgery gave me my life back! Thank you all for support and may God bless 2015 for us all.
  7. Thank you all so much for your honesty. I have realized that I can eat what I want without getting sick too. However I am still happy to say that I do get sick when I over eat. At this point I am still limited to about 1/2 cup. I am scared too that I will eat the wrong foods. We have to forgive bad choices or we will end up where we were. Thank you Kmendez325 for your note about bringing your own. Very good advice. Hope the New year starts out great for you all.

    Quick question

I have no experience with this but I sure hope you get back to being able to eat soon. I would stay on liquids/puree until you feel better. Wishing you a fast recovery!

    Pants size

Well I took my pants up myself. I sew some but I literally just pulled 4 inches up and sewed straight down. I wear most of my shirts out so it was ok for a while. I had to buy new tops because when I started having them fall off my shoulder it looked...well a little trashy. LOL I think you are probably going to be smaller than you can guess. I am amazed at how many inches have come off with the amount of weight I have lost. Also I think in my case, I am only 5 months out and my shape keeps changing. I lose in one area for a while and then another area for a little while. Might be hard to guess what size. Hope it goes well for you.

Anyone else with low body temp

No official readings but I have had my body temperature change a lot. I think low readings can be a sign of thyroid issues. I am freezing now and I used to be hot all the time. I know losing the weight does help, but i am thinking the surgery changes your hormones. Hope all goes well for you.

    Just wondering

I am not far enough out to comment on 1 year out. I am not able to eat meat. I have heard that everything changes throughout the process. If you are starting to feel more full sooner. I would touch base with your doctor to be sure nothing is going wrong.
  12. Help please? I have been stalling for weeks on end. Eventually I lose a few pounds. Can you give any advise? I have a lot to lose still. I try not to get discouraged because the inches are falling off but when that scale doesn't move it is rough. I am trying to add more Protein drinks to my diet. I have trouble eating everything. I am just not hungry! When I do get hungry my little tummy starts hurting. Then I am afraid to eat. Took on a second job for the time being and I don't have much time for exercise. I am trying to walk twice a day on my breaks at work. Our temperatures dropped last few weeks so I tried to walk the stairs at work. Made it up 8 flights! Never ever was able to do that before, so no complaints here. Just want to get enough nutrition so my body doesn't start holding everything.

    Hi! Newbie here!

Welcome! Congrats on the start of a wonderful journey! There are lots of changes after surgery but I am complete convinced that I made the right choice. I am still in the early stages but it has been the best choice for me. I pray you will have the same experience. Your life will change so rapidly! My first 30 lbs. yes only 30 lbs made such a difference. With the 30 lbs I lost a bunch of inches. I am so much more active today. I shot baskets on the basketball court last week. I haven't done that in 30 years! Wishing you the best journey. Keep us updated!
  14. My numbers were staying in 135 to 140 range but my A1 C went down to normal so no more meds for me for now. I would worry about the A1C more then they daily numbers. After your surgery your body has so much change going on. Stay in touch with your doctor let them know your numbers. You have much more to worry about right now. Staying healthy and getting the right protein and water in. Keep up the good work!
