I Must Have My Band Removed!
I'm sorry you are strugging with this. I hate it when they can't figure out what is wrong. Good luck and hang in there.

I Must Have My Band Removed!
Some people do seem to panic once they have their band placed. Have you consulted your primary care physician? Ask her for a referral to a pulmonary specialist. Do you think it is just a sensation? Have you fainted from lack of oxygen? Are your fingernails blue or pink (under the nails). If you are in distress, you need to find a doctor to help. Go to a specialist.

Does anyone weigh their food
I weigh my food everyday. I have a small digital scale that sits in my breadbox and weighs tare. I can put my bowl on it, hit tare and it just weighs whatever I put in the bowl. I then enter the food into my online food journal at sparkpeople. com. I simply observe what I eat. Once in a while I have a high calorie day, which for me now is maybe 1800 calories. lol It does help to spot habits, tendencies and just plain gluttony creeping in again.

Did anybody NOT tell their family?
I have told practically everyone I know. I have received nothing but positive support. However, I am the sort of person who doesn't really get too wound up over what other people think.

Can you "SCULL" drinks with a band?
I don't have any issues either, but you might learn to like your water, if you drink it more slowly. I, too, have chosen to be less restricted.

can't get motivated.
Excellent post, Penny. I, too, am 56. What works for one might not work for another, but every idea is a chance someone might grab it for their own! Keep on, keepin' on. :wink2:

First fill
I had three ccs put in a ten cc lap band. I've had restriction from day one, although mild restriction and I like it that way.

Kink in my tubing :(
Excellent that it can wait for your insurance to kick in, Fanny. I'm sorry you had to have this, but you have shown a lot of strength in following through and dealing with the various medicos. Keep on truckin'.

Can't Eat!!!
Good to hear you are feeling better, Stacy. Hang in there.

can't get motivated.
My son, who works in the health care field, says he sometimes has to talk people into just going to the gym every day. He said sometimes they just go there, change into work out clothes and leave. After a while the habit of going is established. Then he talks them into doing the treadmill for five minutes a day . . . etc. Habit, sometimes they save you and some times they'll kill you.

Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
No, I didn't cheat. I reckoned I was worth the effort of following instructions.

Hoax?
I understand. One of the effects, hopefully, is that people have the surgery and realize that there is more than one acceptable outcome. We all don't turn thin in three months. I'm not losing quickly myself, but I'm satisfied.

Hoax?
Denise, I think you are right. Hang in there, you are headed in the right direction.

Hoax?
Froggi, people must decide to have or not to have surgery based on their research. Hopefully that research will include some stories that were not instant and easy weight loss. Otherwise that would be like getting married cause your friend had a nice reception and honeymoon. Seriously.

You can get a sleeve, you can have gastric bypass, you can have your lips sewn shut, but if you are unable or unwilling to understand and change your emotional eating patterns, then you resign yourself to obesity. I'm sorry if that seems blunt, but it's the truth. We don't get fat by a miracle and we don't get healthy by a miracle. Don't give up, please. I urge you to find some counseling, find an overeaters anonymous, do something to save yourself. You can do it.- Addiction - the real reason behind obesity?
It seems sometimes like all the issues (control, emotion, history, etc.) and the practice of overeating are all entangled in a large ball and it's hard to find an end to start unraveling. It has been important to me to separate the issues. Some I can control, some I can only control my reaction to. Learning to recognize the first step to the fridge is a big step. I'm doing pretty well in redirecting myself, but I can see it will be a long process.- Hello all...new here
I wish you a safe and easy trip, Charlie, and a speedy recovery.- Long Time Bandsters Experiencing Problems?
Constantly monitoring your body and what you eat and drink is being in sync with your body. Normal weight people do it. It's not magic. It's taking control over your consumption. Good luck to both of you.- Who has kept it a secret?
Lies are never good. Even implied lies. You don't have to tell, but I find this attitude a little unnerving. I told everyone.- Please help me help myself....
It's funny, but sometimes I have to treat myself like I am a child who is in my care. I have to say would this be good for her? If the answer is no, the it doesn't happen. It sounds schizo, but it's not, it just takes the personal "I want" out of it for me.- Amaze Rx.....anyone heard of it?
One thing that I found so freeing when I decided to get a lap band was to be finally freed from the siren song of amazing weight loss gimmicks. Yes, I knew intellectually that they wouldn't work, but occasionally I would try them. Now I can just kick them to the curb cause I'm doing better than they advertise and the power to lose weight is between my ears and not in some one's cash register. Power to the people!- Can't stop eating!
Often the rumbling in your stomach is not hunger but only trapped air. Hunger is not an emergency for those of us who are fat. I'm often surprised at how people sound so freaked out over being hungry. Drinking Water helps. Eating Protein helps. I get hungry too, but I make decisions about food. If I can't resist it, I don't have it around. Every time you put a bite of food in your mouth, it's a decision you have made. That's how we all got fat. One bite at a time. Hang in there, you can do it. Reclaim your power over food. It's right there waiting for you.- Unraveling the myth of willpower
Excellent post, Jachut. I went through the same process when I finally successfully quit smoking a year ago - Yahhh Me!!!!. I had a moment when I was waiting to get on a plane (and I'm near phobic about flying) when I decided that having a cigarette would NOT help and that until I quit depending on cigarettes I would never quit smoking. I have lived a generally responsible life, just not where my own health is concerned. Now I am on the way to better health.- Gadgets
I love our trikke but I'm not so good at riding it yet. I will be though. I'm sure of it. - Hoax?
