  1. I can eat a little bit of bread. Yesterday I ate 1/2 a burger with only the bottom piece of the bun. I have a hard time with store bought tortillas but seem to be able to eat a homemade tortilla. Store bought tend to be thicker.
  2. Another favorite: Chili's chicken Ranch sandwich 1150 cal, 70 g fat, 3 g fiber, 82 g carbs Fries 430 cal, 26 fat, 4 fiber, 43 carb Jason's Deli 1/2 plain Jane Potato 1146 cal, 73 g fat, 6 g fiber, 95 g carb That is just for 1/2!
  3. Breakfast: Taco Cabana 2 potato & egg tacos 1 bean & cheese taco 760 calories 32 g fat 89 g carb Lunch: McDonald's Quarter pounder with cheese Large Fries 6 packets of ketchup 1170 calories 57 grams of fat 122 carbs 10 g Fiber Dinner: Taco Bell Burrito Supreme Nachos Bell Grande 1230 calories 62 g fat 131 g carbs Total for the day: 3,160 calories 151 g fat 342 g carb I didn't do this everyday but some days I would eat out 3 times a day. That is so disgusting. I can't wait to go to the gym tonight.
  4. Be sure to chew very well. Stay away from ice cream. If you are chewing well and taking small bites and still can't keep it down you may need an unfill. If you can't eat solids pick healthier liquids like Protein drinks or try mushy foods again like refried Beans or cottage cheese. Fish is a good soft protein too. Restriction for me means that I can eat solid food but must chew well and take small bites. I get some discomfort if I eat too fast or don't chew well. I eat small portions and I am satisfied. My doc doesn't tell me how much I should be eating because he feels it varies for each person. I take it slow and listen to my body. I usually have a small burp when it is time to stop. Sometimes I just know that I am done. Eating is no longer something I can do quickly and get out of the way. I must pay attention or I will suffer.
  5. Congrats! I have 4.5 in the small AP band. It took 3 fills to get me there. I hope your restriction sticks but don't get discouraged if it doesn't. Sometimes it takes a few fills to get to the sweet spot. Some are really lucky and never need a fill and some only need one. I hope you are one of the lucky ones.
  6. How exciting! I can't wait to go. A group of us are going to Celebrate my 40th birthday. I am not worried to much about food. I usually don't eat much in Vegas anyway. I guess now I won't be able to so I will take some Slimfast in my suitcase too. That is a good idea. Have fun on your trip!
  7. This is good to know because I will be flying to Vegas on May 15. I will be sure to eat before the flight and not try to eat on the plane. Did you drink anything on the flight? I've never PB'd either and I don't want to do it in Vegas.
  8. I am still losing but it has slowed down. I started exercising last week and really tracking my food. I even bought a Body Bugg and sessions with a personal trainer. I am thrilled with my weight loss but it is time to kick it up a notch. I am still going to enjoy life and not obsess over it. I won't be tracking my food on the weekends but will eat smaller portions and make wiser choices. I am not home much on the weekends so tracking everything would be difficult.
  9. I like Fitday. I've never tried the daily plate. I use Dietfacts.com to look up nutritional infor and will download to fitday so I don't have to enter all of the info. Now that I have a Body Bugg I use their site to track my food.
  10. I live in the Houston area and the commercials have been around for at least 3 years. Most of the commercials were done by local LB surgeons. Now I see commercials by the manufacturer of the band too.
  11. Please remember that you are still healing. Any weight loss before your 1st fill is a bonus. It is not uncommon to gain when you start eating solid food again. After you throw up or PB you need to stick to liquids for 18 - 24 hours to let your stomach heal. Those episodes cause swelling which will make it harder to eat solid foods. Many of us have to "diet" to lose weight with the band. I count calories and have just started adding exercise to speed up the weight loss. If I don't count calories then I tend to maintain my weight. Be sure to follow the band rules, eat Protein first, then veggies, then carbs if you need them. Don't drink after you eat for at least 30 minutes and be sure to drink at least 64 oz of Water a day. Hard protein will stay in your pouch and help keep you full. Good luck!
  12. My doc took me off of Zantack after I was banded and I haven't needed it. Right after surgery you will have a lot of gas. It can be painful but it was not too bad for me. The reason for this is that they blow your abdomen up with air to perform the surgery and that gas has to get out. It is not pleasant. I am gassier than I was before surgery. No burping for me, it all comes out the other end and it can be deadly. LOL I've been banded for just over 4 months and no hair loss yet. I pray it doesn't happen. The band is wonderful and has improved my quality of life tremendously. Good luck to you!
  13. Justin that is absolutely amazing. Congrats! Keep up the good work!
  14. Wine goes down just fine for me. The only thing that burns is carbonated drinks which we are supposed to drink anyway. I stay away from them most of the time but sometimes I think I have to have a sip of Diet Coke or beer.
  15. I went in for my 4th fill today but I didn't end up getting one. After talking to the nurse she told me it sounded like I didn't need one and she did not want me to be too tight. I really do think that is the right decision. There are days I think I need a fill and days I don't. Tonight I hard time eating so I am really glad I didn't get it. She said to give it a week and if I feel like I need one to come back and they will do it.
  16. Congrats and welcome to band land! I was banded by Dr. Spivak on 11/20. I love my band and I love LapBandTalk.
  17. Kendra, I hope you are doing well. I hope you get to check in soon. My boots are still kickin'! Take care, Jill

  20. Happy 4 month anniversary everyone. I am going for my 4th fill today. I honestly don't know if I need one. Some days I feel that I do and some I don't. I know that I don't need a lot maybe even less than .5 cc. I am getting it done under flouro so the doc should be able to tell how well Fluid is flowing through the band. Hi Bandpal, I miss everyone too. I am still checking in everyday. I am doing quite well with my band. I am losing about a pound a week and I am happy with that. I think the weight loss will speed up as I just bought sessions with a personal trainer. The exercise should help tremendously. I am starting to fit into some of my old clothes that I had grown out of. I saved the nice clothes because I knew that someday I would get back in them. I would never say that the lapband is easy but for me it has been somewhat easy. I have difficult moments and days where I struggle with my food choices but I always seem to maintain even when I make bad choices. The amount I can eat is just so much less than before that my mistakes aren't as costly as pre-band. I've only gained 3 times since banding and they were less than a pound. That is truly monumental for me. Sometimes I wonder if my scale is working because it will stay exactly the same weight for 3 or 4 days in a row. I mean exactly like 180.4 for 4 days. I would think that would vary more often due to Water intake and retention. I am not complaining just surprised. I hope everyone else is doing well and checks in soon! Love, Jill
  21. I'm buying a Body Bugg tonight. I can't wait to see how many calories I burn a day. I know that will motivate me to work out. I'm excited!
  22. This is my crazy puppy Callie. She is 10 months old and so much fun.
  23. I couldn't get it tonight but I talked to my trainer and he will have it for me tomorrow and will help me set it up. I can't wait!
  24. That look's amazing and scary! I'm not very good on a bike. I lived on one as a kid but as an adult not so good.
  25. I just bought some sessions with a trainer. I used to work out with a trainer about 5 years ago and I loved it. Back then I could control my eating so I didn't lose weight but I really did tone my body. I can't wait to see the results now that I have my eating under control. Tomorrow is my 1st session but that will be a fitness assessment. I can't wait for the 1st workout. I won't be able to move for 2 days but it will be great. The best part is that my trainer is a hot young thang! Talk about inspiration!
