Help still hurting!
Call your doctor and tell them what you are feeling. Are you drinking enough water/liquids? If not, maybe you do have a kidney infection. Let us know what you find out.

Thinking of Cancelling Surgery!!!
The only fear I had was that I would fail. I did not and will not fail. You have to make the decision that works best for you but I can tell that if I had backed out of the surgery it would have been the biggest mistake of my life. I've been banded for 5 months and I've lost 35 pounds. I've never PB'd or vomited. I can eat good healthy food but not too much of it. I can still eat my favorite foods as well but again, not too much of it. It is not easy but it has actually been easier than I ever thought it would be. Life is good! Good luck to you!

If I knew what I knew today ...
I would definitely do it again. It is the best tool every invented. It is not easy but it is easier than doing it without the band. The food I eat has changed dramatically. I save a ton of money of food and that is saying a lot right now considering how much prices have increased recently. I feel so much better. I've lost 35 pounds in 5 months which is also 7 pounds per month and I am totally thrilled. Plateaus are very normal and this probably won't be your last. Remember that this is a lifestyle change so you need to learn to eat healthy forever. Keep eating healthy and following the rules and you will definitely succeed. Be proud of the changes you've made in your life. Look at the whole picture when the scale isn't moving and see how much your life has changed. You can do it!

food ? Banded 4/17
Your post op diet is to help you heal and is not about weight loss. It is important to follow your doc's orders. I doubt you hurt anything but if you keep it up you could. Good luck!

early morning...or evening
I have a Body Bugg and I burn more calories on the days that I work out in the morning. Your metabolism revs up and burns more. Of course, the important thing is to do it so find the time that works best and stick to it.

Upstate South Carolina

Slow weight loss
You have lost 24 pounds in 6 weeks and that is great! That is a very good weight loss. Make sure you are eating enough food. If you starve yourself your weight loss will slow down. You need to eat a healthy amount each day. Follow the band rules. Protein first, then veggies and then a healthy carb if you need it. Chew very well and don't drink during or after meals for 30 minutes to an hour. Drink plenty of Water between meals. Increase your exercise. If you can do this you will reach your goal. Stop beating yourself up and be proud of what you have accomplished.

Will I be the one for whom the band doesn't work?
A properly placed band doesn't necessarily stop hunger, it reduces the amount of food it takes to be satisfied and stay satisfied until the next meal. I will get hungry before the next meal but I am not starving. It is a wonderful thing!

Alcoholic beverages?
I was a big beer drinker before the band. I now drink wine. Right now I have little restriction so I drink a beer every once in a while. I sip it slowly and I don't have any problems. It doesn't hurt and I don't burp if I don't gulp it. You can mix alcohol with crystal light or learn to drink it with Water. Jack and water isn't too bad. A shot of jager wouldn't be too bad just don't get too drunk as you might get sick. I occasionally have a margarita but that is a lot of calories. I drink a glass of water between drinks so that I don't drink too much. Now that I eat so much less and weigh a lot less I don't want to get sick. It doesn't take as much as it used to.

Has anyone heard of Pro Nos .....
I looked it up on the internet and it is for body builders. It has 290 calories per serving for the vanilla and 387 for chocolate. It has 42 grams of protein which is a lot. It seems high in calories to me. I use Unjury and it has 100 calories for 20 grams of protein.
-
i even failed at this....
The first step is to get a fill. If you don't feel you are getting the support you need from your doc then find a new one. Follow the band rules, Protein first then veggies and if room then carbs. Don't drink after meals. Count your calories if you have to. It is a pain at first but after a while it is easy and worth it. Exercise, even if it is just a 10 minute walk it is better than nothing. Do something. Anything. The band won't work without a fill. Good luck!

Tell me a story...
It is the best decision I've EVER made in my life. I have more energy My knees don't hurt I can wear heels now and my feet don't kill me I no longer shop in the "plus size" section of the store I can buy bras at Victoria's Secret (Did that Saturday) Woo HOO I take my dog for long walks because I want to I have more confidence I work out at the gym and don't worry about what people think I look better I am healthier I don't obsess over food (at least not all the time) I feel like ME again Not sure about the sex thing (yet) but I know it will be better  Find a surgeon and they will file the insurance paperwork for you and tell you what you need to do. It is much easier than you think and it is worth it. The frustrating part is finding out what the insurance company requires. It is ridiculous in most cases but it you can do it. I thought my life would change in that I wouldn't be able to eat out or do a lot because of the band but I can do everything I did before but now it is easier.

Did you have weight problems as a child?
I was not overweight as a child. In high school I gained about 15 - 20 pounds but I lost it before I graduated.

Constipation SOS
I've had problems with it too. I take Benefiber when I remember. A couple of weeks ago I added Kraft LiveActive Cheese into my diet and it has actually made a difference. I've gone 3 days in a row. It is weird because you would think cheese would have the opposite affect but it says the live culture helps. I haven't had any Benefiber during that time either.

Guiding Light (US Soapopera) just started a storyline with the lapband
She is overweight on the show so we will be watching her lose weight, hopefully. I don't know if the actress actually had the surgery or will be having it. I don't watch the show but I read another post about it so I went to cbs.com and watched a little of Thursday's episode where she told some dude she decided to have the surgery.

Who's benig banded on 11/20???
Hi Bandpal, It sounds like you have a lot of restriction now but it sounds like you are handling it well. Stay strong, it will pass soon. I didn't end up getting my last fill. After discussing with the nurse we decided I didn't need one and that was the right decision. I am eating 1000 - 1200 calories per day and I'm not hungry at all. Well, maybe a little right before meal time but I can handle that. The trainer is working out great. He is really kicking my butt and the inches are falling off. The scale was stuck for a bit but it is moving again. I am down almost 4 pounds this week. It feels great! I am glad you are doing so well. Check in when you can! Jill

Will I be the one for whom the band doesn't work?
I never really get a full feeling. I am just satisfied and no longer hungry. I will get a little burp or hiccup to signal that I should stop. I also have pain with my first few bites and then it seems to get better. It is like the first few bites are irritating to the stoma and then once it accepts that the food is coming it is ok. It is really weird. Are you eating solid Protein? Are drinking after meals? Are you counting calories? Some people are lucky and don't have to count calories but I found that I really need to if I want to lose. Are you exercising? Are you drinking enough Water during the day? Chewing is important because large pieces of food can't go through the stoma which means it will come back up. Some foods are more dense and even though they are chewed well they will go through slowly. That is just my take on it.

Overweight Daughter
It sounds like the meeting went well. That is great that she is so excited. It really sounds like you are handling it very well.
