Bodybugg users report here!
Thanks Travelgirl! I am worried that I am blowing money on just another toy. It makes me feel better to know that you are still using it. I better sessions with a trainer and will start that later in the week. I can't wait to see what I burn during one of those work outs.

Bodybugg users report here!
I am going to buy the Body Bugg tonight at the gym. I can't wait to get it. It will be great to know how many calories I burn without working out and how many I do with a work out. This is going to be fun! I have a feeling I will become addicted.

What Can You Eat At...........
I drink OJ and it doesn't bother me. I've never tried it right after a fill so I don't know if the acid would bother me or not.

What Can You Eat At...........
I totally agree with Kat. I eat much better than before the band but I still eat foods that I like. They may not be healthy but I am satisfied and that is what matters. I am still losing weight even though it may not be as fast as those that eat healthy all the time. Chili's has good salads and they have healthy items that are good.

Discouraged........what gives
Please remember that any weight loss before your first fill is a bonus. It takes several fills for most people to get to the right level of restriction. There was a lot of great advice given and all is true. Be patient, follow the rules, weigh and measure your food, drink lots of water, exercise and the weight will come off.

Whats the lead time for your fill appointments?
My first fill was 5 weeks after surgery and then 2 weeks and then another 2 weeks for the 3rd fill. It has now been 7 weeks since my last fill but I am going in on Thursday. I called today and I could have gotten in sooner if I didn't want the fill under flouro but I do because it is my 1st fill under flouro and I just want to make sure everything looks good after 4 months.

Personal Trainer
I'm so excited. I am signing up with a personal trainer tonight. The exercise is really going to boost my weight loss and knock off the inches. I used to work out with a trainer 5 years ago. I worked out with a trainer for all of 2002 and most of 2003 and still couldn't lose weight. I did lose inches and really was more toned. I can't even imagine how the weight will fall off now that I have my eating in control. I can't wait for the pain!

Mushrooms
I haven't had a food yet that I can't eat. Some things definitely go down better than others. My problem foods are eggs, dry meats and bread. Those foods are actually going down okay now so I know I am ready for another fill. I have an appointment Thursday. I am surprised that I still have not had a PB. I am happy that I haven't but I am surprised. I really do eat very slow though. I will be very sad if I can't eat mushrooms because I love them.

Lap Band Perspectives
Great thread Cindy! I've lost 31 pounds in 17 weeks. I am very happy with that. I know for the first time since being morbidly obese that I will lose the weight and keep it off. I feel so much better. My knees don't hurt, reflux is gone and I am almost out of plus size clothing. In the past when I would lose weight I would run out and buy clothes immediately. In the past I was afraid I would gain it back or lose momentum so I would buy them while I could. Now, I am waiting to buy new clothes because I know I am going to keep losing. It is such a wonderful feeling. I started out wearing some tight 18 W's and some 20 W's and now I am in an 16. I have some regular size 16 pants that fit and some are a bit tight but I will be in them soon. My 16 W's are a little bit baggy. I can't wait to drop that damn W. I feel better about myself than I have in years and I am a happier person because of it. I can tell you that my employees are now happy too. LOL :mad2:

Unfinished Lap Band Surgery?
Panda, That explanation makes sense. It is a good thing she didn't try to proceed because who knows what could have happened. I know you will get that 30 pounds off and then join us in band land in May. Keep up the great work!

How does it feel when out with frieds
My friends know about my lapband and they don't comment when I eat. They know I am doing what is best for me and they are supportive. If someone was not supportive then I would not consider them a friend. I used to drink beer but now I drink wine. I do have an occassional beer but I sip very slowly.

Unfinished Lap Band Surgery?
That story is very hard to believe. I watch Big Medicine and they show LB and GB surgery on patients that weigh 500 and 800 pounds and they had no problem with the instruments bending. It could be true though. Kat said her surgeon said that her surgery was difficult for that reason. It seems odd to us but we aren't surgeons. I hope you got some anwers today.

Don't want General Anaesthesia
I agree with everyone that you really do want to be completely under for this type of procedure. Someone mentioned meeting with anest. but I've never met with the anest. except for right before surgery. Did any of you actually meet your anest. before you went in for surgery?

I don't think I know what I'm in for....
I still eat basically the same foods as before I was banded but not as much as before. For the most part I don't eat bread. I might have a small piece of good bread every once in a while. I no longer eat burgers and fries and it doesn't bother me a bit. I ate fast food almost everyday. Now fast food for me is Boston Market where I can get chicken or turkey and some veggies. Once a month or so I will go to Taco Bell when I am really tired and want something bad. I still eat fried food occassionally. I have a piece of chocolate every once in a while. I've lost 31 pounds in less than 4 months and I am thrilled with that. I know the loss would be greater if I ate a little better but I am eating small portions of food that I like. Don't get me wrong, I do eat healthy food too but I still get to eat the food I love. I used to take Zantac twice a day before surgery for reflux. I've had no reflux since surgery. In most cases reflux is cased by the band being too tight. I have decent restriction right now. I could probably use another fill but I am still losing and I am not hungry all the time so I am waiting. I know it is up to me to control my choices. I have weeks where the scale doesn't move so I evaluate what I am eating and make changes and the weight comes off. You have to take smaller bites and really chew your food. It is amazing how little we chew our food. I can really taste food now. If I don't really like something it isn't worth the effort to eat it. Before the band I would eat anything. I was one of the ones that was worried that I would fail because I loved to eat a lot of food. I've only gained twice since I was banded and they were small gains. I really didn't so anything to prepare myself except plan the type of foods I would eat during the liquid and mushy stage.

Question About Eating
I take tiny bites. If not, I get that wonderful pain in my back. I've never PB'd but if you put too much in the pouch at once it is painful. I didn't have to do this until after my 2nd fill.

Poll: Do you miss diet soda?
I love Diet Coke. I gave it up when I had surgery. I lasted about 3 weeks and then I had one. I drank maybe 1 a day until my fill and then I couldn't drink it. I can't drink it for about 2 weeks after a fill. I have maybe 2 to 3 a week now. I pour it over ice and let it sit so it isn't quite as carbonated. I used to drink it right out of the can because I love it really carbonated but I know I can't do that now.

New issues after first fill - day 2 liquids
That happened to me after my 3rd fill. I had major gurglinq when I would drink anything. It lasted a few days and was gone. Sometimes when I tighten up I get the gurgling but it does go away. I only did liquids for 1 day after that fill. My doc has me do 1 day of mushie foods and then back to regular food after a fill.
-
Do I need a Fill?
My opinion is that you do not need a fill. My reason for this is that you can't eat solids in the morning. If you get any tighter you may not be able to even drink in the morning and may not be able to eat at lunch. It is a personal decision and I prefer to eat solid food. Are you losing weight? How long after a meal before you are hungry? I can eat solid food pretty much all day but I am not hungry for 4-6 hours after I eat. Small portions fill me up. I am losing 1-2 pounds per week and I am happy with that.

Any one want to have a "procedure" done once they lose enough weight?
I need a boob lift now and I can only imagine how bad I will need one after I lose this weight. I will probably try Botox as a reward at some point. I really don't need it yet but I think the wrinkles will be worse after weight loss.

Caffiene????
Caffeine won't do anything to the band but it can cause dehydration. After surgery it can be hard to get in enough liquid so they probably don't want you to have caffeine. My doctor allowed caffeine but not Diet Coke.
