@claudia123 I plan on continuing to work hard up until my surgery.. My Doctor said I should be able to mostly go back about 2 weeks after with light lifting.. and full return 3-4 weeks.

Chrystee reacted to CTDEE in Anyone looking at a January date for surgery?
Hello! We are targeting a January date. My insurance only requires one visit with a dietician and that's done. I've done my blood work. Going for the chest x-ray and psych eval tomorrow. Waiting to be scheduled for the sleep study and cardiologist visit. Endoscopy on the 31st of this month. Insurance takes about 5 days for an approval and he's scheduling surgeries into November right now. I'd rather go first of the year as I'll have more personal time from work if needed. Hoping all of these screenings come back fine.

Not everyone is the same.. I dont know why this bothers you so much, but WHO CARES? Everyone is different.. I am usually a VERY open book, but after choosing to share my decision with a couple people and their negative reaction, I don't want to talk about it, but people will have questions..
I think that a lot of people admit it afterwards, but at first and before your surgery, its a private decision..
If you wanted to get a boob job, do you feel it is everyone's business? Do you choose to share your salary with your friends?

I am 35..sleep apnea. .hbp...but for some reason my doctor requested an approval date of January 15th when all my requirements were completed in September. .they kinda blamed insurance but insurance said the doctor chooses the date. .the nurse told me he was backed up when I asked them but I'm not sure that's true. . Sad..I worked very hard and did everything by the book only so u could wait another 4 months. ..geeeez

I have been able to tolerate just about any food so far. Last night I had a half slice of toast with my tuna and was miserable for about 2 hours. Stomach and chest pains and even pain in my back. I won't be trying that again for quite some time. I'm actually sort of relieved that I had that reaction. bread is a trigger food for me.

I wouldn't see why not.. they usually want you to use a antibacterial kind of soap or just Water on surgical areas though, at least with my C-section it was that way.

Pretty much embarrassment and shame. I'm also afraid of failing. I don't want to be the girl that couldn't even lose weight after having surgery. That's why I don't tell people. I would have my VSG done a million times over.. but if I had the choice to go back and do it all again, I would choose to not have gotten this fat to begin with. I hate it. I don't want other people to know AND it's none of their business. I also had an abortion, which I still think is the right decision for me at the time.. but do I like that or tell people? Hell no. I wish that hadn't been a thing either. Is it inappropriate for some people to talk about these things with others? Not at all. Does that mean I have to? No. That's my choice.

I went from telling everyone to telling no one, so I understand both sides. I got tired of defending myself. Truth is, educating people doesn't always or in my case ever sway someone's opinion about wls. I've since left my job where everyone knew about my surgery and now only friends and family know. I got so tired of my weight being the topic of discussion. I'm 2 years out now so it isn't at the forefront of everyone's mind when they see me now, thank goodness! I can definitely understand why people would want to keep it secret especially they have a lot of people in their lives. The conversations about what I'm eating and how much I've lost and why I reverted to wls get old real quick! But more power to those who continuously stick up for us!! WLS was a life saver for me!

I do love a good debate.
What if it was HIV or if you needed surgery for urinary incontinence? Would you be quick to share this information with everyone you work with? I've known lots of people that are private about their health.
I did not share my surgery information with the world. I also do not share details about any of my other surgeries or past health issues other than a random cold. I'm just not big on sharing.
I also don't tell people how much money I make or how much I spent on my house. Not everyone is an open book.

That is amazing!! Congratulations!! I think the overall BMI is just crazy anyway. for 5'9 they say I should be 160, I can't imagine that could ever be possible. I think at the peak of my fitness in high school I was 145 so I can't imagine after having 2 kids that I could get to that size again. I am going to ask my doc what she thinks my BMI should be or ending weight goal should be, I think I would be happy around 180 to have a healthy look and not look too skinny...I will keep working though I still have a bundle to go but down 99.5 already!! this is amazing!

I don't lie, I just omit. I tell people that ask that I am eating less (truth) and I drink lots of Water (truth). I also tell them that I exercise about 2-3 times per week (truth) also.
None of it is a lie. When I feel comfortable with someone or feel that I can trust someone, I tell them that I had the sleeve surgery. If they choose to tell others in the office, then it is shared by others on my behalf. I'm happy with the way I look and feel and don't care if they gossip about me behind my back about my choice.

I didn't tell anyone at work, I had my surgery in June. It's getting tough now, because everyone is so interested in how I'm losing weight , I work with mainly women. And they can be very catty. I feel bad about "lying". But I'm too far into it to now tell the truth. I didn't want people judging me, and I am a private person too. But it's snowballing now because I'm asked daily how I'm doing it. I just say I've cut my portions way back and I started excerise. -- which is true.

@vsgcrystalg. I don't see the reason for the judgement and references to moral character and childhood upbringing either. So I'm smh! I'm certainty not judging anyone for being an open book and singing their personal medical business from the mountain tops. DO YOU. As a matter of fact, I TRY on a daily basis, NOT to pass judgement on the decisions and choices people make. Because I'm not without flaws, I'm not always successful. But when I'm being judgemental I'm well aware of it. That's why it's so easy to discern judgemental behavior in someone's words, tone, looks or actions.
