BellaLuce4 reacted to Grandma2tweeties in New to fifties group
I have Fibromyalgia and have to drop to meds. I've already done that and taking pain meds hardly at all. Trying to handle the pain. Afraid if I don't pain meds won't help. Handling adjustments start my YMCA workouts tomorrow. They say exercise helps with fibromyalgia and post surgery. Getting a jump on my program.

BellaLuce4 got a reaction from AllofMe in SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
#aloudwhisper and #auntjanny I track everything on My Fitness Pal. I love the app cause it helps my stay in track right now. One day I hope to be at goal and not have to use it. For now it's critical for me... Lol
I went on MFP and averaged my last 3 weeks and daily I'm getting -
77 grams of Protein, carbs= 53 and sugars = 19
I am drinking between 8-10 cups of Water daily
My NUT recommends 60-80 grams of Protein daily.
Are my carbs n sugars ok? I didn't get a guideline for them except to keep them low.

BellaLuce4 reacted to JCP in Two NSVs today
1. My winter coat that I could not zip last year now overlaps in the front.
2. Had my first session with a personal trainer tonight. Was so worried! But she is very supportive and we are starting out very slow. 30 mins of slow cardio, 30 of very light resistance. A hot shower, in bed, feeling very relaxed now.
All in all, a good day. Pretty darned good progress for just over 9 weeks. Love this surgery!

BellaLuce4 reacted to JCP in Feeling so depressed and tired
It is super hard to sleep. Do not be in pain. Ask for pain meds to take at night if you are not taking them. You are in the middle of the hardest time. At 14 days, my pain lessened and I felt better. But it took 30 days to really feel better, physically and emotionally. But then comes the solid food battle... What works, what doesn't. Keep your eye on the prize. By Christmas you'll feel a lot better. In three months you will have lost a bunch of weight and will really be rocking along. Be good to yourself while your body heals. Rest as much as you can. And don't worry. What you feel is normal.

Hi all I am in the week 3 stall but hanging in there. I am really tired, but that may partly be from not being able to do much because of my ankle. I can now put a little weight on it, so I will be going back to work part- time Wednesday. I hope my energy will improve as I get out more. Working hard to get my Protein in. I ordered the GENEPRO, thanks for the suggestion BellaLuce4.

Had my oral surgery last Thursday and still very sore and painful. Trying to wear my lower partial for a few hours at a time but it has made my lower gums even more sore. It will get better just needs time to heal. Last thing to do is the psych evaluation, which comes tomorrow ! Finally !

BellaLuce4 reacted to VSGAnn2014 in Saggy Skin Blues...
I really wouldn't judge how you look at 6 weeks post-op to predict how you're going to look when you're "done."
Everything changes as we lose this weight. And it keeps changing.
Plastic surgeons and those who do botox / fillers tell me I should wait at least a year until I've stopped losing weight before having any plastics or other procedures done -- because I will KEEP changing even after I lose all the weight.
Be patient. It's all going to change -- and maybe for the better.

BellaLuce4 reacted to able2cope in Saggy Skin Blues...
I agree with the Kimpossible - try not to worry about the turkey neck - I had that too, but about 6 months ago (I'm 2 years out) it started to go and not noticeable at all now. I massage throat cream in to it each night - not sure if that helped or not.. but try not to be too concerned x

BellaLuce4 reacted to kimpossible67 in Saggy Skin Blues...
I'm pretty sure the turkey neck is temporary. My ex had bypass in 2007 and it's no longer noticeable. He was a big guy, 405 at surgery and in his late forties. I'm just really happy to see that dowagers hump under the back of my head and neck is disappearing!!! That's as bad as triple chins! This may sound odd but I like my turkey neck, lol.

BellaLuce4 reacted to JCP in Saggy Skin Blues...
I'm 57, 9 weeks out, 47 lost. I'm so glad to be losing but am not looking forward to what is going to continue happen to my skin. My boobs are deflating, my tummy droops, my thighs are squishy, my arms sag, and worst of all, I am getting a turkey neck. I am working out with a trainer so maybe in time it will help. But if not, it's for sure better than being disabled by obesity.

BellaLuce4 reacted to Kindle in i need energy... Help
Definitely try the B12 sublingual. And I know we are supposed to avoid carbs early on, but I felt better on the days I added fruit to my Protein Shake. I used peaches, mangos and bananas for the first 3 months and then added strawberries, blueberries and raspberries after I was allowed to have seeds. Plain Water and artificial sweeteners also hurt my sleeve, so I was drinking a lot of 100% fruit juice diluted with water. I'm 11 months out, have lost 100 pounds and am maintaining 12 pounds under goal, so the extra carbs certainly haven't sabotaged my weight loss.

BellaLuce4 got a reaction from AnewT in Sleeve or Bypass?
For me the sleeve was an easy decision over bypass. But that was based on my medical history of ulcerative colitis. My good friend had a bypass and is very happy with her decision 5 years later.
It's a very individual decision based on your own personal medical history. I know people that have been successful and people that have regressed on both surgeries. There are so many factors involved .
The surgery is def not a quick fix. It's changing eating habits for life - regardless of what you choose .
Good luck!!

BellaLuce4 got a reaction from Dabliss111114 in How can I increase my protein intake during the first four weeks post op...?
Just an FYI...I read that the body can not absorb large amount of Protein at 1 time 20-30 grams max per serving.
3 meals and 3 Snacks a day, try starting with Protein at each serving for all 6 n it helps chip away at the protein and keeps your metabolism up to burn fat.
Besides Protein Powder-some food choices are
Scramble egg whites
Greek yogurt
chicken or tuna salad ( home made- low fat)
Fat free cheese
Skim Milk
Ground Beef or Turkey
Home made Soups with shredded meat

BellaLuce4 got a reaction from HaddocksEyes in You Can't See it Until You Go Thru to the Other Side
@@HaddocksEyes thank for the info. I upped my calories to 900-1000 and having Protien drinks everyday now. I weigh in on Friday and hope this change will shake my system a bit and I'll loose this stall!

BellaLuce4 got a reaction from SiameseCat in LCHF?
My NUT also promotes Low Carbs ( Complex) and Low Fat. She said during the beginning stages Post op Low Fat is better for the Liver and organs.
I did Atkins (LCHF) and lost great on it but always gained it back plus some when I went off. But it sure was fun losing weight while eating scrambled eggs fried in bacon grease!!! Lol
I guess follow what works for your and your NUT n Doc recommend ????

BellaLuce4 got a reaction from NavyMom2006 in New to fifties group
Ladies, I wish I knew about GENEPRO during my first weeks post op. It is tasteless and a small spoonful packs 30 grams of Protein. There is a thread somewhere on here that I kept reading. I finally went on Amazon and am kicking myself for not buying it earlier.
#traveler60 sorry about the scrambled eggs. Not sure why they didn't settle well with you. Still happens to me sometimes on eggs n everything if I "mindless" eat my meal. I forget to chew sometimes... Lol. Boy does it hurt! I try to walk it off and that helps a little.
Happy Friday everyone????????

Happy to find a 50's group! Had surgery at 51 and so glad. Best gift I ever gave myself. Now it is years later and those pounds don't come back. Ok 2-3 come and go. But never in my life could I maintain a large weight loss... I kept saying. I just want to feel normal. Whatever that is to each of us. And I am So happy to say. I do feel size 12 is normal life for me. For years. We can all do this with support and help. Glad to be here. Grateful????
