My 10k NSV!!!
WOOWHOO!!:scared: This morning I accomplished a very big NSV! I ran my frist 10K (6.2 miles) as a bandster! Six months ago, prior to banding, I could barely walk a mile, much less run a mile. Well today I ran the 6.2 miles...NON-STOP! I missed my 60 min goal(time was 63mins) but the course was VERY tough (many hills) and the weather was rainy. I am VERY happy and proud about my victory! When you set a goal and work very hard towards it, and reach that goal........AHH...FEELS SO REWARDING! I'M ON A HIGH! FELLOW BANDSTERS.....SET THOSE GOALS AND REACH!!!!:clap2:

excercise strategies
Here is my opinion. Don't just do the same routine and exercises over and over! Mix it up! Cross train! Do a variety of workouts. This keeps it interesting and keeps your body "off guard". Our bodies get use to the same movements and intensity levels! MIX IT UP!!!

Men Only
I could definitely do much better as far as calorie intake is concerned! I have good and bad days......much better than pre-banded days though! As far as exercise, I am addicted! I run 3-4 days/week between 3-6 miles per run! I am lifiting weights and going on long bike rides(20-30 miles) when the weather permits. Saturday I am running a 10k (6.2 miles) and am really looking forward to it! If I can do it under an hour, I will be very content! I have been running now for about 4 months and this is a big stepping stone for me! Next year, I have my eye on a half marathon (13 miles). Hopefully I will be about 50lbs lighter! Exercise is my friend........snacking is my enemy!

Exercise and the Band
Hey Jen, I was banded about 6 months ago and I have worked my up to 30 mile rides! I love it! I try to do atleast 1-2 bike rides a weeks of 20 miles or more. I am running my first 10k (in 9years)next saturday. This is going to be a big victory for me! Exercise is definitley my friend! I also workout with weights.

heavy lifting and exercise
I have a very physically demanding job and I waited exactly 6 weeks to go back to work. This is what my doctor advised. I have had no problems, knock on wood! I also workout, run and bike ride......no problems! I doubt if you did any harm to your band when you lifted that heavy box. I was a little leary when I went back to work, but I soon forgot that I was even banded!

Will my head ever adjust to the size of my stomach?
I made the mistake of going to an all you can eat buffet yesterday, while being very very hungry! I had some of this, some of that and a little more of those! Six months out and I am still trying to finish my plate! How stupid! I was so uncomfortable for about 2 hours afterwards! Granted, compared to my pre-banded days, the amount was about an 1/8th of what I use to eat, but the brain still thinks that the stomach can still handle larger amounts. To just push away and say enough is what we need to do! Easier said than done!

Gross me out, please!
Just to let you know, not everyone PBs! I have been banded now for 6 months and have yet to PB. Oh, I ve been stuck a little, but everything has always worked its' way down! I have 7ccs in a Vanguard Band and the main factor is to chew chew chew!

Weight loss at 6 months
YOU ARE DOING FINE! I am right at 6 months and I have lost "only" 50+ lbs and I am at times a little discouraged, but I realize that this is NOT a race! A year, 2 years.....what ever it takes, we WILL get there! I tell you what, I dont have that "sunken in" look that alot of people who have lost too quickly! I have maintained my muscle mass, that usually gets used up when you lose too quickly! The more I think about it........I am losing it at just the right pace!!!

port visible?
I work a strenuous job at the airport! I walk thru a metal detector everyday....Ive never set it off! So far, I really dont know the band is there unless I feel for it. It feels like a hard lump, but not visable. I hope this helps.

Whey protein?
It could be soy protein. I've heard that whey is a better protein than soy. I don't know why or if it's even true.

Anyone else get a choice of a walkman or pedometer from Inamed?
Don't waste y'alls time! The radio/pedometer is just simply junk! I can't believe that Inamed would dare even put their name on something so cheap! I hope their bands are of better quality!
-
What food have you sworn off for good??
Unfortunately, I can still eat ANYTHING! I have 7cc in my Vanguard band and there is really nothing that I can't tolerate! I just have to make sure I don't take too big of bite and chew really well!

Men! How has WLS affected your assets?
