  1. Kristin - Are you full after 3oz of protein? I am just curious as to how big a portion that is in real terms, and if you are satisfied afterwards. Does the fact that the meat is in a gravy mean that 1 hour later you are hungry? I am concerned about the whole weighing things, most of my friends are naturally thin and they dont weigh their food, what I wanted to get from this surgery was to no longer be obsessed with food EITHER way. Surely if you can only eat 3oz at a time and you dont eat between meals you will lose weight without having to go into diet mode. Sades - Thanks hon, I have done so many 1000 cals a day diets!!! I just hate them! I guess that what I was hoping for was that if I made healthy choices the size of my stomach would automatically limit me to 1000 a day or less.Dont worry about the size of your band I had to have 4ml put in in surgery to make it fit!
  2. This one is when I tense the muscles on my tummy! As you can see I will be getting my moneys worth from the surgeon!
  3. Ok this is a moan, but I am sick of having the same conversation with my surgeons dietician. When I went for the op I had done what I thought was fairly extensive research, I looked at the bypass and the band, and I had decided that apart from the fact that the bypass scared the living crap out of me, the band was better suited to my eating habits. Although I do like treats my problem was always portion control and the lack thereof. I had a long discussion with the dieticians explained that with such a large family I cook loads of one pot meals ( think coq au vin, spag bol, pot roast etc) I just eat too much and get hungry 1 hour afterwards. During this discussion she mentioned trying crackers/raw veg etc if that happens as it will stay in the band longer. Since I had the band I have cut out nearly all the Snacks, I allow myself one low cal bag of chips a day and that is it, BUT I dont eat my food dry. I follow all the rules, take 20 minutes to eat, dont drink with meals or for an hour after, and I exercise. My weight has stayed pretty static in the last 4/6 weeks even with the fill, and I eat way more than I should be able to. My clinic are telling me that is because of the pot roasts and tomato sauces (apparently it just slides through the band???) and that if I want it to work I have to eat grilled/steamed meats and plain veg. WTF??????? If I ate that without the band I would lose weight!!!! The whole point of the band for me was the fact that I could still cook the things that I enjoy cooking, and the vast majority of what I cook is healthy, and have portion control. She is right, when I do eat the dry food I do get full much quicker, but from what I have read on here I should get full on spag bol just as easily. What gives???? I ended up asking her what I had spent £8,000 on becuase I have already made the healthy choices, started excersing etc, if I have to change the healthy stuff that I eat so radically then to me I just feel like I am on a diet, not that I have changed my attitude to food. She mentioned me getting another fill, but again I am worried, in surgery he had to put in 4cc as the band was so loose, my first fill did nothing and in order to get any restriction on the 2nd fill I had to go to 9cc in a 10cc band, there is only 1cc left FGS!!! That worked for a couple of weeks but now it seems to have loosened off, I can eat pretty much anything (but not white bread), and if there is any sauce on it I can eat loads! Can the band loosen off if you dont lose weight? If I cant eat white bread then surely I have restriction, so why am I condemmed to dry foods only in order for it to work? I feel like I have met the band half way, I have made huge changes and embraced them and it still isnt enough  At the moment the way I am looking at it it is 70% me, 30% the band  I just feel like I was missold. Friends keep saying to me that my diet is no different to their weight watchers only I am not allowed the sauces and that they cant see why I spent all that money, %&)&^(&^%&$!!!!!! I am sooo hacked off..... Nina x
  4. How long will you be doing the physio for? Bet that hurt like a b*tch. I do think that you should up your fill, if you were comfy at 12.5cc last time then that is probably what you need now. Is your head in a better place today hon? On a totally different note have you get any new pictures to put up,or do you want to wait until the Water has come off?(I cant help myself I love seeing piccies) Nina x
  5. I PMSL when I read those comments! A big Wooo Hoo for Neal then is it!!! What a delightful picture you paint of your suntanning sessions babe...skin coloured butt puddle........ROFLMAO!
  6. You must feel so much better now that you have got those drains out, just make sure that you dont push yourself too much!! I cant tell you how to attach a picture but I have found a sticky that does! (that is how desperate I am to see the new you!) http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f5/how-attach-picture-post-17595/ Hope it helps. NIna
  7. Neal - Do I do that? Do I ever stop doing that!!!! LOL I am getting obsessive about it  It may be TMI for you but I have heard that when they do a blokes version of a mons lift, it has a very positive effect on the outward apperance of the willy! Just thought you would want to know I had my consult and booked the surgery in October, and it seemed like a lfetime away, but I must say it has rocketed! I cannot belive that on Tuesday i am flying out for my pre-op and final consult, I hope he isnt disappointed in me, I saw him 2 weeks before I had the band fitted and I was so cocky, I really thought that I would have lost 30/40lb now, of course I hadnt reckoned on bandster hell and the lack of proper restriction! I am getting another fill while I am in Lyon so I hope ( fingers crossed) that I can lose another 10lb between now and surgery! I am getting my daughter to take some before pictures for me,but the only person that has any pre-band pictures is my PS as he took a load last time I was there. I will try to get a copy of them off him to spur me on!
  8. Tami, thanks so much for that hon, I have just got off the phone from them again and they are sticking to saying that if I eat casserole I will be able to eat twice as much and I will be hungry 2 hours later, it is nice to hear that you can eat good wholesome food and lose weight with the band! Brilliant list by the way!!! I will be copying that and getting loads of the things off it! I am getting sooooooo excited now, I cant believ how close it is!!!!
  9. Oh Lordy I really hadnt thought about it til now....... the girl that I am going with is my friend but I think there are somethings that even best friends shouldnt share!!! I am in France so I am just gonna have to make use of the bidet the majority of the time and save the turning for when I really need it! I hear a lot of good things about spanks, I have got some marks and spencers own, control girdle waist leg and thigh thingies, for after the medical garments come off. How long do you wear the medical one for, do you know? I have a thing about tight clothes, I hate them, everyone laughs at me cos i will always go the size up to get the comfort so I am dreading the compression bit Oh well it will probably be the least of my worries at the time and I know it will all be worth it!
  10. Oh and the way that I justified the jog bottoms to myself was that when I have had the surgery I will be looking so darn fine that I will keep up with the exercise so I will need them!
  11. I have just been out buying for my op and I settled on jog pant in the size I am now (made from lovely soft material mmmmm) but they have a slight drawstring waist for if he truly works miracles!! On the top half I have got soft vest tops, and a couple of soft jog suit tops to go with them. I have also invested in some new lounge suit PJ's so that if I really cant be bothered to get dressed they arent obvious bedtime wear! HTH Nina x
  12. Ghost, please dont beat yourself up, you have spent the last 3 months unable to exercise and, if I am honest, when I feel like crap the first thing that I want to do is eat! It is just a little hiccup compared to the huge mountain that you have already climbed. Never underestimate how much weightgain can be caused by Water, have you tried taking diuretics? I noticed that when they unfilled you you were at 12.5cc and now you are back up to 11, maybe you really need that extra 1.5cc? I am sorry that your shoulder is giving you grief, I know this sounds like a batty question, but could you schedule both procedures for the same time period, obviously not in the same op, but a couple of days apart. That way you wont need 2 lots of time off sick and if you are going to be on pain meds anyway......... Dont get down hon ((((((((hug)))))))) Nina x
  13. JULIE!!! OMG are you superwoman???? I actually grinned when I saw your post, purely because you have got more balls than most men that I know. RESPECT!!! Seriously though, how are you in yourself?Did the pity party do that trick? I have got everything crossed for you that the seromas clear up in record time.
  14. I shouldnt think TOM will be a problem,do you (sorry in advance Neal) use tampons? If so I would think that other than you not being entirely happy about the situation,it wont be a problem. Lets face it I am fully expecting to have not a shred of dignity at any stage in the process!!! Oh dear I hadnt even thought about actually getting up off the toilet, oh noooo (TMI WARNING) how are we going to wipe our tushes???? Think of the twisting involved there!!! Thats a grim thought......LOL How come you are wearing the compression garment for so long?
  15. I think that if you have had a c-section then you will have a fairly good idea what you are letting yourself in for! On the relationship side I am in a very similar situation, I dont know what the answer is other than reassuring you DH that you are doing this to make YOU feel good no other reason. Why should you be happy with just the weight loss, I dont know about you but my decision to get the band was half health and half cosmetic, to be left after all that hard work with a body that I dont like would p*ss me off, its like half my agenda is left undone. Is there anyone that can help you with your munchkins?
  16. Thats good to know Neal,I am actually getting another fill next week so it would be a bummer to have to take it all out 3 weeks later. Are you getting unfilled because you are at goal? One of the things that I have on my list as I am having loads of Lipo is a childs rubber ring to put on the toilet seat, apparently if they lipo your butt it can be very painful when you sit on a hard surface! How many pressure garments are you all buying?I thought that I would need 2, one in the wash and one on, what do you all think? I suppose it is different for me as I will be relying on hotel laundry services for the first 2/3 weeks. My PS has told us specifically NOT to shave our bikini areas as it is a source of potential infection if we do ( think shaving rash) what have yours all said? I had planned to get it waxed but looks like I will be going au natural!

Where did I sat that he hit the child first time? The first time he just told him off, guess he should have just let the child run out and get maimed by a car then? He did not BEAT the child he smacked his backside ONCE. You think that justifies him being arrested and kept from his wife and kids for months???????
  18. I have got the iced cappucino flavour and it is lovely. The coconut cream pie on the other hand made me gag! You are kind of on the middle road then, not a LBL but much more than a panni, Do you think when you have finished the journey that you may go for a LBL? I reckon that once you have had the TT and they make you drum tight that you might get away with it when you get to goal!!
  19. I have done a bit more research on this and apparantly 1cc od human fat weighs 0.9g so 1litre weighs exactly 900g! So if he does take say 7 litres off me that that is 6.3kgs which multipled by 2.2lbs is about 14lbs!!
  20. Julie all I can think to do is send you a huge cyber (((((((((hug)))))))))) I hope it settles down soon hon
  21. Julie - I hope that you feel better soon, what a nightmare that you get this complication on the final leg ( excuse the pun) of the journey. I admire you for doing your own drainage, I dont know if I could do it, but then I never thought that I would be able to the jabs for IVF and I managed it! Its amazing what we can do when we have to, but then you would know all about that already after a 200lb weightloss!! Does your dad have any idea how long it should take to settle down? Nina x
  22. googled it - heres the answer What is the relationship between cc and pounds?: Even though cc (cubic centimeter or cubic centiliter) is a measure of volume and the pound is a measure of weight, there is a way to calculate the relationship pretty closely. 1,000 cc = 1 liter 1 liter (of water) weighs 1 kilogram 1 kg = 2.2 pounds - or - 1 pound = 454.5 cc (approx.) (Updated: 08/24/03) How much fat did you take out? or What the heck is a cc?: Everyone wants to know how much fat was taken out during their liposuction. Although understandable, it's not always quite as important as people think. As virtually everyone reading this site already knows, liposuction is a contouring procedure, not a weight-loss procedure. And unlike breast implants, where you can eventually see pretty much what you have, the number of cc's removed is not always as evident. Before discussing this, let's go over a few definitions. A "cc" is a metric measurement of volume that is used commonly in medicine and science. 1,000 cc's, which is also called a "liter," is about a quart. A liter of liquid weighs about 2.2 pounds (obviously, a liter of air weighs much less, and a liter of Iron would weigh much more - remember, it's a volume, not a weight) and one pound is about 450 cc's. When someone tells you how many cc's were removed, you really have to know specifically what they're talking about. Part of the confusion is because there are many different ways of counting it. In liposuction, a certain amount of Fluid (i.e., superwet or tumescent) is injected before doing the surgery. You need to know how much fluid was injected because if, for example, two doctors say a total of 3,000 ccs was removed, but one injected 1000 cc's beforehand and the other injected 2,500, it makes a big difference. One surgeon advertised that he typically removed 10 quarts from his patients but failed to note that he also injected 8 or 9 quarts of fluid, meaning that the real amount of fat he removed was more like 1 or 2 quarts. So if you're quoted a number, is that the total amount of material removed, or does it take into consideration how much was injected and how much settled out? In fact, the most accurate method is if the surgeon lets the total amount of fat and fluid removed sit for a while (at least 20 minutes or so) and then counts only the supranatant fat; i.e., the fat that is floating, as opposed to the total amount removed. Fat is very light (lighter than skin, muscle, bone, etc.) and so it floats on top. (That's also why you don't lose as much WEIGHT with lipo as many people wish - sorry!) Even that, strictly speaking, is not completely accurate since the "fat" in that layer still contains some of the fluid injected, some blood, and other body exudates (fluids). And, of course, there is a limit to the amount of fat that can be removed safely in a single procedure. At the end of each case, I use the following sample notation in my records: 3,650 (2,700/950); 2,500 - where 3,650 is the total amount removed, 2,700 is the supranatant, 950 is the infranatant (i.e., the stuff at the bottom) and 2,500 is the amount of fluid injected. When the patient asks me how much fat was removed, the answer in this case is 2,700 cc's. This method is less useful with ultrasonic liposuction which, because it emulsifies the fat, produces less clear separation of the supranatant and the infranatant. Finally, the absolute amount of fat removed is not nearly as important as the relative amount. 500 cc's removed from someone who is petite is likely to produce a much more dramatic change and result than 3,000 cc's removed from someone who is significantly larger. Some of my best results (depending, of course, on how you want to define that) have been achieved by removing well under 1,000 cc's. The issue is really how much fat was removed relative to the individual body in question. Either way, it's often not what was taken out that matters the most, it's what's left behind. <A href="http://www.liposite.com/surgeons/engler/index.html">Courtesy of Dr. Alan Engler, NY
  23. I feel much better now after my rant :Banane26: Thanks for the encouragement though and you are both right, life is too short to worry about it! I have made loads of changes, a bit of sauce aint going to kill me. I am trying to find out how much 1 litre of fat weighs, most people have about 1 litre taken , just trying to shortcut a few months that all
  24. In have 2 labradors, 2 newfoundlands and six kids!! In my house I use my shoes to protect me! You would have to be barmy to take your shoes off at my front door(mainly cos the the hounds will eat them to be fair) When we moved in I tiled through the whole of the downstairs for obvious reasons If someone wanted me to take mine off I wouldnt have an issue, but equally I probably wouldnt rush back, I like to feel totally comfortable with someone to spend time in their house, and I would just worry myself sick about spilling or messing something up.
