BCBS Denied
I'm so so sorry. I can really understand your frustration, gosh I'd be crying too. I have BCBS as well and I am so worried they will deny me too. Rene is right, FIGHT IT!!!! My neighbors had BCBS a few years ago and their DD needed her tonsils out in the worst way, this poor kid went thru hell every other month with sore throats, etc. They asked me if I would help them write a letter to BCBS to ask them to reconsider. We wrote the letter and wouldn't you know, they approved the opperation !!!!! So don't give up, there is ALWAYS hope. Hugs and kisses and if I can help in any way, please let me know.

Okay then, Today, I had my EKG (((E must stand for embarassing))) nothing like a strange woman fondling your boob for 10 minutes and your boob looking like its enjoying it.... YUCK and....egads. Chest Xray ((( also E must stand for embarassing))) nothing like 3 YOUNG guys working the controls and having one of those heavy belts around your waist that barely fits and keeps falling off b/c my GUT is to freakin big... AND those thin gowns where every nook and cranny shows. And blood work, ALL 15 Vials.... felt like I lost a pound....oooohoooohoooh LOL that was funny b/c the technician looked at me like what the hell is wrong with you LOL. I explained what I was going for and he was like COOOL !!! Thats my story and I'm sticking to it

Cost of Hospital - Lourdes Med Ctr Willingboro NJ
WOW Karen, thats incrediable, for just one day??? In 2001 I had my DD at Hackensack. I was in for 8 days, wound up having a c section, blah blah blah.... got the bill $49,000 not including the doctors charge. I think what happens is, if the hospital is a participating hospital then they send the bill out with what they would normally charge, but in reality they only get what was agreed upon with the insurance company which might be (bogus example $20,000). In anycase YIKES !!!

What Are Psychologists Looking For?
I have my psycho evaluation in 2 weeks and was wondering, what exactly are they looking for when they evaluate a person that is going for lapband? I was told that I would be there for a good 3 - 4 hours (2 different doctors). What was your experience like? Thank you!! Eileen

Delarla, what part of BC did you live? (I always said everyone's got a little jersey in em, weather they know it or not lol) Ivan what was the psycho evaluation like? did you go to the ones that Dr. B. requested you go to? Should I bake a cake LOLOL jk Thanks Eileen

Medications Not Allowed
Are there medications (OTC or prescription) that banders are not "supposed" to take? Thank you!

Please--need Kick In The #@*!!!
Aww Estela First thing is, if you have any more donuts left in the house DITCH THEM (I'll be over in 10 minutes LOL jk)!! Try not to have stuff that you know is going to trigger you. And Vinesqueen is right on the money saying you are eating like the normal person that you are. I understand your afraid of slipping back into bad habbits so do a clean sweep of the house and start a new. You CAN do this. When (if) I get banded, the one thing I know I can NOT have in the house is Peanut Butter. I sware I can sit and eat an entire jar w/a spoon followed by a huge glass of milk. My DD will just have to have it at her G'ma's house b/c I crumble around it. How are you doing today ???
-
Ok let's be realistic...doesn't add up
Isn't the normal expectancy of weight loss is 1 - 2 lbs a week, even for lapband? If thats true, than you are WAY above normal. Here's a cyber pat *PAT PAT* because you've done a good job. Keep it up. Hugs

Lisa I know you'll get alot of of the seminar. Write questions down b/4 you go. There were a few I forgot to ask the doctor but when I see him in Sept. I will ask. One thing about me is, if anyone is going to cut me open they must answer every stupid question I have lol. Because as stupid as they are to others, they are very REAL to me. Ivan !!! your body needs time to catch up from that wonderful 25 lb loss. Give it a few weeks and you'll see. Are you working out at the gym? you could be building muscle you know and thats the key to burning the fat in the long run. How do you feel? any problems? want me kick the doc in the dingleberries for ya? You know us joisey gals. Jachut, don't blame you for throwing that scale out the window LOL. Well all my appointments are final. Psy Evaluation is the 22nd Nutritionalist is the 25th EKG, Chest Xray, Blood work is all tomorrow the 12th (I didn't get a change to get the blood work done yesterday or today) I will work on the forms he gave me this weekend and just sit back and wait for the consolation.... gosh I hope all goes well and I pass, especially the Psy evaluation... I mean I'm nuts already so what can they possibly write down LOL

Mental Hunger -- How to deal with it?
Here's a thread I started on the very same subject. Hugs http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=8401&highlight=head+hunger

Ok let's be realistic...doesn't add up
I was told in my surgeon's seminar just yesterday NOT to worry about calories in the beginning because your body is basically living off of the fat thats already stored. He said if your not hungry don't eat, just make sure your taking your vitamins and drinking lots of water because eventually a year from now (most likely sooner) your pouch will adapt to food/size and you will be eating the 1400 calories.

I'm so sorry, I had to wait for the boss man to leave LOL I went to the seminar with my DH and all I can say is I'm in the process of getting all my sheeeeeat together. I am going with the lapband, well thats IF everything goes well. I really liked Dr. Ballantyne, he seemed funny and down to earth AND he doesn't beat around the bush. He spoke about how the band won't work for people who aren't ready for it and I can understand it more now than ever. There was one guy in the meeting who asked if he can drink beer, well you all know the answer but here this guy was thinking of ways to get around it. He blurted out well I'll just have to switch to wine. I almost smacked him on the back of the head and said.... Don'tcha get it.... CALORIES !!!!!!! it all boils down to calories. I personally think if you go into something like this with thoughts of how to cheat before your even operated on, you might as well join Jenny Craig. I am so ready!! I'm going to fast tomorrow morning for my blood work. I've made a check list so that when I go for my consolation on Sept 6th I'm all set. Thanks so much for asking, your the best!!!! How are you two doing? Ivan, I guess I'll be seeing you on September 1st ? HUGS
