Question? (suggestions) My doc says I should be on "CLEAR" liquids for two weeks (after being banded). They told me to drink only: Clear broth Clear Juices - No sugar added Jello (ick) Ice Pops Crystal Lite drinks NO SODA coffee w/skim milk Tea Thats it !!!!! I am on day 6 and I am famished, the hunger pains is just horrible. The nurse in the hospital told me about Isopure (she was banded 3 years ago) and two of the folks here at this site suggested the same (Ira and Beanie ) Question is? Since Isopure contains Protein, how much protein should someone at this very early stage be drinking? I'm thinking b/c I'm not getting any Fiber that I might want to be careful and not drink to much of the stuff. Thanks for your suggestions, thoughts, idea's. Eileen

Hey Kids, Ira that zoo is a zoo LOL. Glad you had fun. I know DD would flip out if I brought her to something like that. She freaks when she see's people in big furry costumes. WOWEE only 500 calories and your getting your protein in? thats good !!! I don't know the size of the band, I'm gonna ask this coming friday when I go see the doctor. I know he doesn't fill it during surgery. Right now I feel no restriction as far as getting down water or anything. It goes down quite easy and I can get alot down. I'm just being really careful and going slow but I can drink like before. I don't gulp b/c I'm afraid of hurting myself and more gas. Glad to hear your doing well. Have a great night everyone

You have to ride their butts right untill the end. They approved me the friday before my monday surgery UGGG! You need to have mega documentation on your WL efforts. Record and write down everything you can think of. Call them (Insurance Co) 2 - 3 times a week. Make sure your doctors office sent in what they said. Mine was lax on it. Get a fax # if you need it. Talk to managers, not reps. WRITE down every time you called, the time and who you spoke to. Document every word. It REALLY helps. You have to be on top of them every step of the way. From beginning of band process to surgery it took me 3 months

Thanks Keri *giggle* Bandayed, how are you feeling today. You got liquid percocette????? man I had to crush mine and drink it in a solution of Water or juice ... CAN YOU SAY GROSS !!! LOL I stoped my pain killers on Wednesday night. The gas really started moving out then and I felt alot better. Wednesday night I chewed to death a Gas-X tablet and it did help. The good thing was I only needed one. I'm also trying to walk alot, well as much as I can in the house. I'm not 100% but I feel like I'm about 80%. I have energy (not running a race energy) and feel pretty good. I wish I could have Soup or Protein shakes. One thing I do notice is I get sweaty alot, like I'm over heating so I drink alot of water. Today I'm sipping coffee. I don't feel any restriction as far as a pouch goes, my water and juice goes down with no problem, just like before banding. I'm greatful for that. I'll be going to the mall today with DD, they are having a halloweenie party for kids, so it will be nice to get out. Actually last night I ran to the grocery store and bought rootbeer italian ice cherry ones too. Whats shaking today... where are the rest of the banders ?

Yeah, I agree with the other kids here, try to weigh yourself once a week in the morning, that should be your true weight. 5 lbs in 12 hours is NOT FAT!!! its most likely Water your retaining for some reason. Did you eat chinese food or something that has msg or lots of salt? The body is a funny little thing. Hang in there !!! Those nasty scale numbers can be depressing, don't let them sabotage your hard earned efforts. HUGS !!!

Are you kidding me?? THAT IS FLUFFIN AWESOME !!!! I pray I'm down 60 in 3 months... wholey smokes woman, your on fire :D Well I just has surgery Monday so I can't really say much. I have not weighed myself but I can feel there is some loss of weight (prob water). So far so good, no problems with the surgery (but then I'm just out). The only thing I can say for myself is the gas pain was horrible, I mean horrible. It lasted 3 days. Today I feel pretty darn good I went to Hackensack NJ I have a friend who has had the bypass and also wishes she had the band, but she was 500+ lbs at the time and had no choice. She is struggling with her wl now as she has gained some weight. My other friend who has had the bypass had to join weight watchers b/c she too was gaining and not even out a year. Its a personal decision.... decide whats right for you.

Good Morning Everyone Watcha all got planned for this weekend? anything good, exciting...naughty I feel pretty good today.... HUNGRY though...growl Today DD has a halloween party to go to, tomorrow is church and a birthday party. Inbetween is cleaning and cooking (uuuh) for the family lol. Since its hard to bend, I won't be cleaning like I'd like to but the clutter is driving me mad. Betty, no protein drink for 2 weeks. Just clear liquids for the first two weeks. Maybe next week (Friday) when I see the surgeon he'll let me slip in a drink a day, that would be most appreciated lol. Today the bandages come off...well at least thats what they told me to do. I really don't wanna see the incisions, ick but I have to get the bandages off. Pat, what new furniture did you get? You know my first "new" piece of furniture I got I was 36 years old LOLOL. I really could use a big old comfy chair for my living room, like one thats HUGE and you can sink into. We bought lazyboy couch and rocker/recliner about 4 years ago that we are very unhappy with. They are NOT comfy. DH sits on the floor and watches TV but we feel bad b/c we spent all that money and we can't afford new right now. Where is everyone this lovely day? Hi Ladies, Thanks Karen & Crystal Oh Yeah, I've had that wicked gas pains, horrible horrible horrible!! I'm feeling some what normal today, stiff, a little sore but much better. The gas pains were bad on tuesday and wednesday, then thurday it broke and ahhh, the pain was less and less. Today I feel pretty good but I'm not overdoing it. I am VERY VERY hungry, the hunger pains hurt like a bitch....phewwwww. Wish I could have mushy now. My doc wants me on Clear liquids for 2 weeks !!! TWO WEEKS !!! yikes. Did your doc tell you to take off your bandages? I'm supposed to take them off tomorrow and quite frankly ICK, I'm nervous about it. Whats about you all ?

Hi Everyone, I'M BACK !!!! I feel so much better today (ooops, I better not say that to loud LOL), I'm sore, I get tired but NOTHING like the past few days. THANK YOU GOD !!! When I lost 150 lbs years ago my hair fell out in clumps and then slowed down. Are you taking Vitamins, and getting enuf Protein? Talk to your doctor to determine what you need to do. Its very important to have good communication with your doc. Good luck !!!

Scar tissue can be REALLY painful, I have lots of that from previous surgeries. Just go slow and try not to aggrivate it further. I just got banded and my port is right between my boobs along my bra line (of all things oy). Hope your feeling better.

Thanks Pam & Donali, Today is better Last night I had the worst gas pains but the good thing was it was coming out. I'm still sluggish today but I feel better all in all. Can't wait to feel some what normal again LOL. The two weeks of clears is gonna be brutal, but I knew this and will get thru it. Thanks again PAM, you rock !! Shopping the next day... WOWEEEE lol.

Hey sweetie, its good to see your beautiful face. Im glad your home and all is starting to heal. I got home on Tuesday night. The pain is just horrible. Last night the gas pains gave me a work out. I had to take some gasx to relieve some of it. I was popping percocet every 3 hours. Today I am feeling a little better but my tummy is HUNGRY, and the hunger pain HURTS like a mutha lol. My mom is making me some REAL broth instead of the stuff in the can thats just awful. It takes me all day to get a little Jello down, just b/c i lose interest in it. I'm doing good with the Water and juices. I give people credit who bounce back fast....God Bless You !!! I had to ship DD off to my Mom's today, it was just to much yesterday having her home, she is 4 and ever few minutes... Mom, get me this, mom get me that, Mom, Mom,.... So today I was like your out of here LOLOL So..... thats my story

Good Morning Everyone Betty thats exactly what I am doing, sleeping in my recliner, it is much much easier. My DD who's 4 sleeps on the couch next to me while I'm in the recliner, she refuses to be alone. Last night the gas was very painful, I didn't have liquid gas-x, I had the chewable ones, so I ate one very very slow until each piece disolved in my mouth. I still can't eat anything. Maybe 1/4 of those little cups of jello. I'm sipping on juices and water. My tummy is growling, some of the pain I'm having IS because I'm hungry. But most of it is just b/c of the operation. Beanie, hope your day is busy again. It IS a good thing LOL !!! Ira, sorry about the insurance company, its a shame that they are making you wait. Cindy, just stick one thing outside and forget about decorating this year. There have been years where I just don't have time either. There's always next year Have a great day !!! burp!
