Talk to your surgeon about what is right for you. I chose the sleeve and couldn't be happier.

Does everyone get the shoulder gas pains?
I did, but they dissipated within a few days. If you experience has pain you can walk and use a heating pad to help manage the pain and shift the gas out of your system.

Protein powder
I usually just use water. I know some people add the sugar free flavorings (like davinci syrup), or even PB2.

Stalled completely, even gaining some
If you are only eating 800-900 calories and are working out twice a day, no wonder you are stalled. Have you talked to your NUT about making sure you are getting enough nutrition for your exercise level?

Almost there...mama in Kuwait
Welcome! I was anxious about my surgery since it was first surgery ever. My guess is that compared to delivering twins it will be really easy.

IV fluid weight gain and 3 week stall
I don't remember where I heard about them first. I do remember my NUT talking about not expecting to leave the hospital skinny. Not long after, I told a friend (who happens to be a nurse), that I was having surgery and the first thing she said was that I was going to be so skinny when I came home from the hospital. I had to tell her, "Actually, not."

Feeling defeated
That's a great question at 1 month out I'm only able to do 500-700 day. Sent from my SM-G920T using the BariatricPal App I'm almost 3 months out and I'm between 400 to 650 per day still. I've heard going above 800 during this initial weight loss can be harmful to weight loss. Idk. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App That sounds really low for three months out, especially if you are exercising. What does your NUT say?

Protein goal
As someone else suggested, have you tried Syntrax nectar? ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates are light and fruity, too. Have you tried protein pudding or Soup? I like the WonderSlim puddings and the ProtiDiet tomato basil and creamy chicken Soups. unjury chicken soup is good, too. You may need to eat more frequently if you can't find a protein supplement you like.

Looking for advice
Congratulations on making the decision to get healthy and for getting a surgery date. Personally, I wouldn't dream of dictating what surgical tools my surgeon uses. I chose an outstanding surgeon with an outstanding track record. He is a specialist. If you have chosen a good, experienced surgeon you should feel confident leaving the decision on how he performs surgery up to him. If you are not confident in his skills then you may want to reconsider.

8 Days Post Op
I agree. No wonder you are hungry. You are literally starving if you are not eating protein. Protein is critical for healing.

Protein goal
If you are two months out can you not eat food? What happens when you eat things like Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, turkey, tuna or other fish, chicken, etc.?

Successful weight loss after 6 months? Anyone?
There isn't anything magic about six months that would keep you from being able to lose weight, especially if you are following your program. I would need to see details before even beginning to hazard a guess about why you may be experiencing a stall right now. Is this a weight you have maintained at in the past? Are you tracking your food? Are you drinking at least 64 oz of Fluid a day? What is your Protein target? Are you getting in at least that much protein every day? Are you avoiding added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), starches, and fried food? Are you eating enough good carbs (vegetables, fruits, and whole grains)? Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed? Are you exercising? Have you talked to your NUT about your concerns? What did he or she suggest? Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

what to tell the surgeon?
Welcome! I don't think you need to worry too much about what you tell your surgeon. Just be open and honest about your physical challenges and your history. You could even print this post out and share it. I had to fill out a long form about my physical condition and history. Best of luck with the process.

Feeling Good
The Language of Letting Go June 17th, 2016 Feeling Good Having boundaries doesn't complicate life; boundaries simplify life. —Beyond Codependency There is a positive aspect to boundary setting. We learn to listen to ourselves and identify what hurt us and what we don't like. But we also learn to identify what feels good. When we are willing to take some risks and begin actively doing so, we will enhance the quality of our life. What do we like? What feels good? What brings us pleasure? Whose company do we enjoy? What helps us to feel good in the morning? What's a real treat in our life? What are the small, daily activities that make us feel nurtured and cared for? What appeals to our emotional, spiritual, mental, and physical self? What actually feels good to us? We have deprived ourselves too long. There is no need to do that anymore, no need. If it feels good, and the consequences are self-loving and not self-defeating, do it! Today, I will do for myself those little things that make life more pleasurable. I will not deny myself healthy treats

Ways to celebrate weight loss?
I make appointments for massages when I hit periodic milestones. I love glass, so I have bought myself some nice art glass pieces at some of my big milestones. Massages and mani/pedis are my standard rewards.
