  1. This is your surgeon's call. It seems the biggest risk with karate would be herniating your incisions. I did some walking until I was cleared to get in the pool.
  2. Take the time you are spending weighing and worrying about your weight and sip. 30 oz of fluid is dangerously low. Focus on getting in your protein and fluids. Until you are able to consistently reach your protein target and drink at least 64 oz of fluid the numbers in the scale are irrelevant.
  3. This is a great time to learn to be able to do things that we think we can't take. You have made a huge decision to change your lifestyle and your postop diet is part of it. At least call your surgeons office and ask if you can add yogurt. You really don't need strangers approval to do what you want to do. I know for me, it was important to be able to meet my Protein and liquid goals and follow my plan. I found each stage to get tiresome because I wanted what was coming next. It is a very small sacrifice in the big scheme. And that first scrambled egg was the best ever! You will get there. This!
  4. Happy New Year!
  5. I was really only interested in the sleeve after learning about both. My surgeon does a lot of sleeves, and it is currently the most frequently performed WLS procedure as far a I can tell. I wonder why he performs so few. I would be curious to know more about his experience. How many surgeries he performs, etc. Does he not do many because of bias or because of lack of skill in that area?
  6. This isn't a race. The best thing you can do is follow your program and focus on getting in all of your protein and fluids. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  7. Protein pudding and protein hot chocolate make good "snacks". I like WonderSlim dark chocolate pudding and ProtiDiet hot chocolate.
  8. I haven't had cereal since before surgery. I do eat oatmeal pretty frequently. I just make sure I add Protein to it. I have had pizza a handful of times since surgery (over a year and a half). It just doesn't do it for me like it did pre-op. It smells better than it tastes. If I eat it at all, I prefer that it be really good pizza (not any of the chain stuff) and I focus on the toppings. Personally, if I am eating at an Italian restaurant I would rather have meatballs.
  9. A lot of folks have issues with eggs early out. Are you able to eat something like Greek yogurt or cottage cheese? It sounds like you are figuring out what it is like to eat one bite too many. Try slowing down and taking tiny bites. You will get a better feeling of when you are satisfied.
  10. All I used: An extra pair of underwear to wear home. Biotene spray. Lip balm. A heating pad. A pillow for the ride home. My mom. The hospital provided everything else I needed.
  11. What does the package say? It should give you the serving size in fluid ounces.
  12. You will be fine. Just take one day, on hour, one minute at a time. There are many threads on this site with recommendations for Protein supplements and other surgery supplies. In my experience, it helps to start with samples of different supplements until you determine what you like post-op. I like Premier Protein, GNC lean shake 25, Syntrax nectar, ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates (especially during the clear phase), ProtiDiet creamy chicken and tomato basil Soups, Mio drops/crystal light, Herb tea, etc. Good measuring utensils, a food scale, and small food storage containers are also helpful. For the hospital, I used lip balm, biotene spray, and a heating pad (for gas pain and because I was cold). If you haven't already weaned yourself off of caffeine and carbonation, now is a good time because you really don't want to have to deal with caffeine withdrawals post-op. I got a blender but barely use it. I use a shaker bottle more than a blender.
  13. In addition to therapy and counseling, you may also want to consider exploring Overeaters Anonymous. There are meeting lists and other resources, like podcasts, online at OA.org. A good book you may want to read is EAT IT UP! There are other books that you may find helpful, Luke anything by Geneen Roth.
  14. I agree. I watched the first episode/pilot of THIS IS US yesterday and loved it!
  15. My surgeon's office gave me a suggested Vitamin schedule. If it is confusing, it can help to get out a pen and paper, write everything down, and come up with a schedule that works for you. Early out, I was sipping something all the time in order to reach my Protein and Fluid targets.
  16. The saga continues. I went into the mall today (the first time in decades) and went to Soma for bras. I was able to get 2 on sale.
  17. I use olive oil (or butter!). You can get an olive oil mister if you are concerned about amounts.
  18. The "No" is for novel, but you can write memoir or creative nonfiction. The definitions are really loose.
  19. I don't know. At that stage I was just sipping something all day. I didn't really focus on meal times. I just made sure I was sipping something that would get me to my protein and/or fluid targets.
  20. I am taking a class this morning with an afternoon planning session related to prepping for NaNoWriMo (which is only one month away). Is anyone planning to participate this year?
  21. I would start shopping now and explain your situation. A good seamstress/alteration service and understanding sales person can help you plan a strategy. Prayer works, too!
  22. I just wore a loose dress and took an extra pair of underwear to wear home.
