  1. What does your NUT suggest? I really don't focus on calories as much as Protein. For me, the critical number is protein. The calories are relative to your protein as well as your activity level. You don't want them too low or too high.
  2. Try to get a minimum of 64 oz of fluid and closer to 90 grams protein than 60 grams and see what happens.
  3. How are you doing at getting in all of your Protein and fluids? You may just be on a stall.
  4. Keep sipping. I was sleeved and didn't have to leave any time between protein shakes and other fluids. I was also able to count all my fluids toward my fluid total, including protein shakes. Just sip, sip, sip. I sipped all day and didn't go to sleep until I hate met my goals. It gets easier.
  5. During the clear liquid phase my surgeon allowed ProtiDiet tomato basil and creamy chicken protein soups. Other soups weren't allowed for me (other than clear souls) until I was on full liquids.
  6. I didn't do anything other than a little walking until I was cleared to get in the pool. I have been swimming ever since.
  7. I have DVRd it but not yet watched it.
  8. How much are you eating? This sounds like a signal that you may have overeaten. Try slowing down and watching your portion sizes.
  9. When I got mine replaced here in Kentucky she offered to print out a screen shot of the old one for me to keep.
  10. At 8 days post-op I was on full liquids, which thankfully included Greek yogurt. Please be safe and follow your program. If in doubt, call your NUT to see what you can have. Following your program really is for your benefit.
  11. It is up to you. Do keep in mind that there is an expiration date on all of your pre-op testing. My surgery was delayed for financial reasons so I had to complete a lot of pre-op testing twice. That added more time and more expense to the process. The good thing is that by the time my date rolled around I was more than ready. In my opinion, the major benefit to having surgery is that it works so much better than all of my pre-op weight loss attempts. By the time I had surgery it was almost impossible to just maintain my weight my metabolism was so broken with yo-yo dieting. I was one "diet" away from 600 pounds. I knew the next bounce would put me over the top and I was practically housebound and immobile. Now, post-op, my efforts give me results. If you are happy with the results by doing this on your own, my guess is that if you have surgery you will be thrilled with the results of the same amount of effort. The sleeve has really made a difference for me. Best of luck with your decision.
  12. What new this shows are you watching this year? I am loving BETTER THINGS and ATLANTA on FX. QUEEN SUGAR is pretty good. Of course, POLDARK on PBS is back! Any suggestions?
  13. I absolutely relate! Nothing makes you appreciate the deliciousness of simple food better than a prolonged liquid diet!
  14. I don't know about you, but after WLS I go through an awful lot of yogurt cups, Water bottles, and even have empty tubs of Protein powder on occasion. What are some creative ways you have upcycled after surgery? Have you upcycled clothes or other things you no longer need now that you are losing weight? Have you found new uses for old things? I would love to hear your ideas and even see pictures!
  15. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  16. It is hard to know what to suggest without more information. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. It is possible that you are just on a stall. Are you tracking your food? Are you following your food plan? Are you eating Protein first? What is your protein target? Are you consuming at least that much every day? Are you drinking at least 64 oz of fluids. Are you avoiding starches, added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), and fried foods? Are you practicing mindful eating: eating slowly, taking small bites, and chewing thoroughly? Are you exercising? Are you eating enough to support your exercise? Have you talked to your NUT about your concerns? Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  17. Thanks! No offense to anyone here but I'm not the kind of person who can just relax and heal. I'm the kind of guy who will seriously over do things if left to myself. For me I just need to push myself. Obviously my motivation was to enjoy my beautiful wife. She is a strong motivator! This is a good opportunity to practice pushing yourself to rest and take it easy.I've never been "that guy". I've had one sick day in my entire working career. I don't go to work sick. I just find that if I'm not feeling well relaxing doesn't do me any good. Doing anything is soooooo much better for me. Honestly if it wasn't for the fact that I had family here after my surgery I probably would have grabbed my air tools and used my engine hoist for lifting the front fenders and hood off of one of my trucks off to tear down the top of the engine. I just don't have an off switch... You sound eerily like my last boss. Unfortunately, he died prematurely at 48 years old. I HIGHLY recommend you consider learning how to rest and relax. Especially when you are ill.
  18. I don't know. What is your protein target? 60 grams seems low. Mine is 100 grams.
  19. I liked Bariatric Advantage Calcium chews. I like premier Protein. You can get a sample assortment of syntax nectar directly from the manufacturer. You can buy single serve packs from Quest. I also like GNC Lean shake 25. You can get samples at GNC.
  20. No, I didn't. Anecdotally, at my first post-op nutrition class there were about 8 of us in the class. Everyone who ate off plan and didn't follow their program were miserable and experiencing problems. Everyone who followed their program were doing great. It made an impression on me.
  21. Are you cleared for nuts and seeds? I wasn't cleared for those until much later. At three weeks I was still on soft foods. It is very important to follow your food phases post-op. I don't know what academic and onions is. Boiled eggs should be ok but may be too dry this early out. At three weeks, soft and moist worked better than dry food for me. That early out, Snacks and meals for me were the same foods: Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, turkey, Protein shakes, etc.
  22. Cauliflower should be fine to try. I ate a lot of green beans early out. Now I eat a lot of Brussels sprouts, asparagus, green beans, etc. I also eat a lot of tomatoes, especially now that they are fresh.
  23. I started eating dairy products when I was on full liquids. As long as the texture is appropriate for the phase you are on I am not aware of any specific prohibition against dairy (unless you are lactose intolerant). Greek yogurt and cheese are pretty much staples for me.
  24. I was sleeved April 20, 2015, and have no problem eating salad. I just had a small one for dinner. Just eat your Protein first, eat slowly, and chew thoroughly, and you should be fine.
  25. Actually, this is incorrect.
