  1. I don't use the premium because the free version works fine for me. I am not sure what benefits the premium version offers. For the regular version I just started with my Protein goal and then put in a reasonable calorie goal based on that and adjusted the other macros proportionately. Just play with it. I just go by the protein number anyway.
  2. Since you swim laps, you might want to try some Water weights. I have a pair of Dumbbells I use in my pool at home. The wellness center where I swim and take aerobics classes has a variety. Some of the aqua classes specifically use them. A class is a great way to learn to use them. Whether you are in or out of the water it would be worth it to get someone to show you proper form. Either a physical trainer or class instructor would be a great resource.
  3. This sounds like a great process. I'll have to try it.
  4. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all experience periodic stalls. Most of us experience a stall about three weeks after surgery. Just follow your program and focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids. It may also be a good idea to stay off the scale for a while. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  5. Grilled salmon was one of the firsts but technically, it was Taco Bell pintos and cheese on the way home from my follow-up post-op appointment.
  6. So far I haven't cooked my own, but would like to. Following for ideas and recipes. So far, the best scallops I have eaten post-op were at a Japanese hibachi restaurant.
  7. I use MyFitnessPal and really like it. It is very easy to use. It also links to my fitness tracker (Misfit Shine).
  8. I was given protein supplements (ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates) in the hospital. My surgeon expected me to meet my protein target of 100 grams a day right away. Starting two days after surgery I was able to do so. I was allowed a couple of exceptions during the clear phase (namely Premier Protein and a couple of ProtiDiet Soups by my surgeon). According to my surgeon, getting enough protein is critical for healing in addition to the weight loss. Sipping protein and fluids, and walking were my primary focus in the first 10 days after surgery. Getting it all in is a full time job but worth it. I had a great recovery and am very happy with my progress so far.
  9. You have got to eat. Are you not eating because you can't or you don't want to? You may just have to suck it up and do it. What does your NUT suggest? Adequate nutrition, especially protein and fluids is critical for healing.
  10. It sounds like you are doing great. I am in the US and I did gasp when I read your NUT recommended you drink carbonation and alcohol, especially so early post-op. My insurance didn't cover my surgery, but my surgeon is excellent and has performed thousands of successful surgeries. You didn't mention Protein at all. My primary focus was and is getting AT LEAST 100 grams protein and 64 oz of (non carbonated, no caffeinated, and nonalcoholic) liquid a day. on my next appt we are discussing counting protein ☺ Great! According to my surgeon getting enough protein is critical: for healing and for weight loss. I have found that getting in my protein is a major success factor.

  12. As much as you want, but keep in mind that each bag is one serving.
  13. Does your PT have water therapy available?
  14. I had both. I think it is very common. I didn't experience any particular issues.
  15. That isn't everyone's instructions. I was explicitly allowed Premier Protein during my clear phase. Getting in my protein and fluids were both my surgeon's priorities. To the OP, just keep sipping and working at it. It will get easier. Are you taking a PPI? What is PPI? My dr told me to focus on getting any kind of Fluid in for the first few days to avoid dehydration.. The protein I just can't stomach because it is disgusting. Just can't wait to be on baby like food lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App A PPI is an acid blocker (like Prilosec). I was prescribed on for several months post-op.
  16. I agree with the advice to take everything a step at a time. Be sure and write everything down and ask lots of questions. If you don't understand something (for instance why you need a specific test) then ask questions until you understand. A couple of great questions to ask of everyone are: "What are the next steps?; and "What should I do?" Be prepared to practice patience, polite persistence, and perseverance.

  18. I agree. Neither the Internet nor a chat board is the place to get medical advice. CALL YOUR SURGEON. They should have given you a 24-hour phone number for issues like this.
  19. How do you know what they were thinking? Did you make an effort to talk to anyone? It must be my age but I tend to try to think the best about most people until I have evidence to the contrary. Maybe I'm self-centered, too, but I can't imagine assuming other people are thinking anything but good thoughts about me. If not, it is their issue, not mine.
  20. One of my favorite tuna salads is the Mediterranean tuna salad at Whole Foods. My approximation: Tuna A couple of pieces of marinated artichoke hearts Kalamata olives A spoonful of feta cheese Some red onion (if I have it) Greek seasoning A dab of mayo or aioli I also make a "tuna melt" with some greens Beans, tuna, and grated cheese on top, heated up to hear the green beans and melt the cheese. (The ranch flavored packet of tuna works great for this one.)
  21. Very cool! Thanks for sharing. Your dog is cute!
  22. Congratulations on your progress! You look great. I was sleeved April 20 last year by Dr. Weiss at Georgetown. I live in Danville. I would love to be your buddy.
