  1. My mom went with me. Once I checked in, they took me back to get prepped. I was the second person that day so I didn't really have to wait very long.
  2. I am so glad you got approval. The whole pre-op process requires a great deal of patience, polite persistence, and perseverance. It will be worth it in the end to have a safe surgery.
  3. Happy one-year Surgiversary to a strong, resilient, capable woman! This is awesome.
  4. Just curious, but why would being on blood thinners preclude you from getting the sleeve?
  5. It sounds to me like he has reason to worry. Some people's marriages don't survive the surgery and weight loss for the very reason that the person having the surgery usually gains enough strength and confidence to leave a less than loving and healthy relationship.
  6. For me, post-op "full" is different from pre-op "full". Just eat slowly, chew thoroughly, and measure your portions. There is a fine line between satisfied and one bit too much. You will start to be able to tell if you pay attention what your signals are. For me, if I overeat I can get a runny nose, burp, and/or get hiccups. It hasn't happened very often though. You will get the hang of it.
  7. My opinion is that the answer to this may depend on what you were doing when you were sleeved. Were you following your program; getting enough Protein and fluids; tracking your food; eating slowly and mindfully, and chewing thoroughly; avoiding sugar, starches, and fried foods; taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed; and exercising? Were you dealing with any food addiction and/or emotional eating issues? If not, and you don't do anything different then another surgery may not give you the results you hope for. If you were, then the new procedure may help, especially if you continue to do your part.
  8. The only time I've seen my surgeon since I left the hospital was at a book signing for another one of his patients. I figured that unless I have complications I may not see him again. I do have confidence that if I needed to see him I could.
  9. Congratulations on the new job! Making an appointment with a NUT sounds like a smart move to me.
  10. I second the recommendation of ProtiDiet. I was give ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates in the hospital and they helped a lot my first few weeks. Try eating them undiluted over a little bit of crushed ice. It is hard but the sooner you can get on your Protein and liquids the better you will feel. Try different temperatures and liquids (including crushed ice and sugar-free Popsicles) to get in your Fluid. Getting dehydrated is not something you want to experience. Talk to your surgeon about your nausea, he or she may be able to prescribe something for you. It does get better!
  11. Only losing three pounds is not a stall. Are you getting in all of your Protein and fluids? Are you following your program? Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  12. This is so great. I think there are just too many holes and uncertainties in the article to make absolute pronouncements.
  13. I read Women Who Love Too Much and Codependent No More decades ago. Thanks for the reminder. I might need to revisit those. I also thought it was interesting that there is a book casket Women Who Love Too Much but not a Men Who Don't Know How To Love! Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus is also enlightening.
  14. Absolutely! I love the Bluebird. Have you been to Grace Cafe in Danville?
  15. Are you on soft foods? Soft mechanical? All foods?
  16. I don't know because I didn't weigh very frequently post op. I only weighed at doctor's appointments early out. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  17. Congratulations on the weight loss! Without more information it is hard to offer any advice. Have you talked to your NUT? What does he or she advise? Are you still following your program? Are you tracking your food? Are you reaching your Protein target every day? What is your protein target? Are you drinking AT LEADT 64 oz of Fluid? Are you avoiding carbonation, added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), starches, and fried foods? Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed? Are you exercising? Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  18. One of my favorites is Mr. Cheese Os.
  19. I am a year out and still eat a lot of soft foods. If you are comfortable eating soft foods and liquids you should be able to go a while without chewing tough things like chicken or steak. You will need to make sure you take small bites and eat slowly. Chewing slowly and thoroughly is not only important for making sure food is small enough it is also important so you feel satisfied. You might want to talk to your NUT about strategies for slowing down and savoring your food.
  20. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all stall and most of us experience our first stall about three weeks after surgery. Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids and stay off the scale. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  21. What are you eating? What phase are you on?
  22. My appointment went great. My surgeon wasn't there of course (I figured I wouldn't see him again unless I had complications) but I did see him a few weeks ago at a book signing and he seemed happy with my progress. The good news: of my labs come back ok I can drop most of my supplements except for the Multivitamin. The other cool thing is that I have lost enough for my BMI to actually be on the chart on the wall. I want to thank each of you for the kind words and encouragement. It means a lot to me. I couldn't do it without you.
  23. I see a possible business opportunity: healthy food for long haul truckers.
  24. I am within 5 pounds of scheduling my next massage. I think my one year anniversary gift to myself is going to at the very least be a mani pedi.
  25. I've seen enough Investigation Discovery shows to know that even when everyone KNOWS someone is still no good, they still seem to be able to have no trouble finding romantic partners.
