  1. Interesting! Every surgeon is different. My pre-op was high protein and no starches/sugars: no bread, no fruit, etc. I referred to it as the bacon diet because bacon was a-ok.
  2. Congratulations! This is a great milestone. Just an observation and something to think about: if 30 pounds is more than you have been able to lose in the past and the fact that you are now one month post-op, don't be upset when you stall. You will stall, and especially if you weigh every day, you may have an emotional reaction to that stall. I have learned that how I respond to the inevitable stalls is one of the major things that makes my post-op weight loss successful post-op. Pre-op, a stall is when I would give up. Keep up the great work and keep following your program. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  3. Congratulations! This is awesome!
  4. Welcome to BariatricPal. Right after surgery, plain Water was the hardest thing for me to drink for a while. Try different temperatures (ice cold, room temp, warm, etc,) and different flavor enhancers (Mio drops, crystal light, decaf tea, etc.). Eating crushed ice and sugar-free Popsicles will also help you get in your fluids. Fortunately, your Protein shakes should count toward your Fluid consumption, too. Just keep trying. Staying hydrated and getting in all of your protein and fluids is critical.
  5. I like Palmer's cocoa butter and cocoa oil.
  6. I count protein grams, and to do that I record every bite in My FitnessPall. Pre-op, I HATED recording my food going all the way back to when I started Weight Watchers as an adolescent and was forced to track my food on the refrigerator. I did use the Weight Watchers app pre-op to track points but switched to MyFitnessPal post-op because the points method did not track my protein. Being on this journey and having an app (MyFitnessPal) has helped me to see the benefit to tracking: I am old, my short-term memory is shot, and I can't remember what I ate 10 minutes ago, so I have to track. I don't track calories per se, but I do try to choose foods that have a higher nutrition to calorie ratio (especially focused on protein). 1200 calories of turkey breast is not the same as 1200 calories of Krispy Kreme donuts.
  7. Mine is certainly being redefined. I am learning to cook, make smaller portions, and appreciate good clean foods. I actually a bought and ate ramps and pea shoots for the first time ever in the last week and they were delicious!
  8. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all experience periodic stalls and almost everyone experiences their first stall at about three weeks post-op. Learning to accept the process has really helped me to keep following my program no matter what the numbers on the scale say. Also, weighing infrequently is a great strategy if the numbers in the scale dictate your emotional state. Early out I only weighed at my doctor's appointments. What I have found to be critical success factors for me: Just follow your program. Weigh, measure, and track your food. Make sure you get in ALL of your Protein every day. Make sure you get at least 64 oz. of Fluid every day. Avoid starches, added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), and fried foods. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise when cleared. Stay off the scale. And, embrace the stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  9. Congratulations on your surgery and progress so far. It sounds like you need to sip more often than once every 15 minutes. When I was at your stage I was literally sipping all day. It does get easier.
  10. Try the ranch flavored tuna packets. I just used a little bit of mayo or aioli (I have some flavored aioli from Stonewall Kitchen).
  11. Between the ages of 40 and 50, after decades of yo-yo dieting, I went from "healthy" fat to disabled. If you are not ready, by all means wait until you are sure. But, based on my experience I wish I was more willing to consider surgery a de side ago. Fortunately, improvements in the surgery options were one benefit of me waiting until I was ready.
  12. I can't read your post. Did you use a funky font or color? It doesn't show up in on my app.
  13. Is Amy Schumer plus-sized? Does it matter? What Amy Schumer should have said http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/08/opinions/amy-schumer-glamour-wann/index.html
  14. I have been living raspberry season this year! Fresh raspberries in my yogurt for breakfast is becoming a regular thing.
  15. That doesn't mean you shouldn't try. And, no, sleeve's won't stretch from liquids. Just keep sipping.
  16. My 100 grams a day is a minimum target.
  17. Congratulations on your weight loss. You look great! My favorite kind of exercise is swimming. I swim laps and do Water aerobics, water weights, etc. Exercising in the water is great because it's easy on the joints and the water provides lots of resistance.
  18. Send me $50 bucks and I'll ask you a few questions (assessment) and create and print a really impressive certificate.
  19. I am still trying to figure out how someone reads very real warnings about the risks of eating off plan post-op to "they think I am so stupid I should die". Because someone warns you that you could isn't the same as wanting you to at all.
  20. Look under Food and Nutrition. I believe that there is a subforum for vegetarians.
  21. I just walked some until I was cleared to get in the pool. I do most of my exercise in the water.
