Water in-take

Hey everyone, so I'm pretty much new to bariatricpal, (im 25 btw) and also 3 days post-op. I was wondering about this Water thing. When it comes to drinking water it's making my stomach feel instantly full (I'm guessing is the best description) with every swallow, this doesn't happen with Protein shakes or broth, just only with water. This might be a silly question, but why is that? And do/did this happen to anyone else?

Welcome to BariatricPal.

Right after surgery, plain Water was the hardest thing for me to drink for a while. Try different temperatures (ice cold, room temp, warm, etc,) and different flavor enhancers (Mio drops, crystal light, decaf tea, etc.). Eating crushed ice and sugar-free Popsicles will also help you get in your fluids.

Fortunately, your Protein shakes should count toward your Fluid consumption, too.

Just keep trying. Staying hydrated and getting in all of your protein and fluids is critical.

Ok, thanks yea I'm going try out the flavor enhancers and decaf tea since those are the only choices I haven't tried post-op. It's just such a weird feeling. My husband thinks it's just the Water hitting the scars. I said it made me feel full but I'm not sure if that was the best description. Since I'm still trying to learn my new stomach. I guess I just gotta keep trying things to see which one fits. Thanks again @@Inner Surfer Girl
