that is what mine said too, I have BCBS Empire,,, Usually if you have a BMI under 40, then you would have to have co-morbidities. I have sleep APnea, just diagnosed in July, Insulin resistance, as far as my insurance was concerned the same as a diabetic, since I take the same meds, Poly Cystic ovarian Syndrome and even my Mitral Valve Prolapse was one since the heavier I am the more blood volume needed etc, and the harder the heart works, etc.... I am 5'6" 225 lbs well 218.5 since I started the Optifast diet on the 16th... Great news, Good luck on this

I dont remember if I posted on this, but my surgery is in a few days, Aug 30th,,, Only nervous about the IV and the Anesthesia, and never once have I not woken up vomiting....and um,,, "combative" Hey other than that,, heh heh, I am ready to go,,,lol

Had the Pre-Op visit with the Dr today.. I was in while my friend had her first fill, so he saw us both at the same time... It was quick and easy for me... He asked if I had any questions....lol. And now I go back this Tuesday for the real deal.......

Some one on here I am sure has the contact name of the person at Inamed that can help you with those issues saying it isnt FDA approved etc. It was done so in 2001 here in the USA.... I have my surgery on the 30th too.... Dont worry, just think the positive long term picture of a new healthy and thinner you!!!!!!!

I like this water called AquaCal, No sugar, sodium etc. but has Potassium, Vitamin C and Calcium in it. The grape one tastes like Grape kool aid big time, I get it at Wal-Mart....

I have Empire BCBS, and I was approved really fast...... I met the criteria and have the co-morbidities sleep Apnea, Insulin Resistance, etc... Good luck in getting approved.. I am happy that I am having DR Rehnke do my surgery.. 8/30/05

Wow I am so excited-not about actually having surgery, yuck, but about the long term after the surgery.. I started the Optifast on Tuesday morning... I was at 226.5 and now am at 222. Its not really that bad, so far I am not real hungry, I try to drink a lot of fluids,, and hold off on the Optifast until I am really hungry,,,, then I drink one.... I get 5 a day plus the Water, s/f Jello, crystal light etc.... My Mom is with me on this, she says ah pretty soon you are on your way to wearing a bikini again,, or being a model,,,,lol . her way of being supportive.... She is also morbidly obese...She is worried and was trying to get time off of work to come down and be with me, but cant.. My hunny will be with me during and bringing me home the day after surgery, but he cant really afford to take that much more time off of work... So I am hoping to be able to do things on my own on the 2nd day after surgery... C'mon I said hoping,,,,lol And my count down has started.... 12 days,,, yippeeeeeee :banana

I am so sorry you are feeling this way too,,,, Every Dr has different plans... Just do what is best for you, (maybe adding) some other liquids, and especially the Protein.. I just started my 2 weeks Optifast today, Surgery on 8/30, then 2 weeks of clear liquids, then 2 weeks of full liquids, then 2 weeks of the mushies.... I am truly hoping that by the time I have the surgery after Hopefully having all liquids and sf Jello etc, that I will be ok after surgery and not be hungry-- OK I am not hoping, I am dreaming,,,lol Hope you feel better soon

I also have PCOS since I was about 16, and I see a reproductive endocrinologist now also, I have the INsulin resistance too,, They put me on Fortamet, I think is the same as glucophage, but it is extended release tabs and it is my understanding that after the band we cant take them-no extended release ones... I too had major runs and pains in my stomach, but after 2-3 weeks it subsided, unlesss I ate a high carb meal, these meds do not get a long with high carb meals,,,, gas, pains, the runs etc,,,

Yahoooooooooooo, the Dr's office just called and confirmed that it is def the 30th... Wooh Hoooooooooo. So Tues teh 16th I start that darned Optifast for 2 weeks, man how am I gonna survive on 800 calories a day..... :>(

I dont know yet, My insurance Empire BCBS will be paying 80%.. So I will be billed I guess the rest..... But for self pay everything is inclusive at 16950 including 1 year of follow up
