  1. I think celebs like Anna Nicole and Kirstie DO need the endorsement money b/c thier careers aren't exactly what they used to be but they are still accustomed to a certain lifestyle that requires money. I'm sorry but I refuse to believe Anna Nicole took TrimSpa and that's it. Maybe she didn't have the band,,, maybe she had a 24/7 professional chef and trainer that the rest of the world can't afford, but I have never know anyone to lose any weight on TrimSpa!
  2. It's hard to lose wieght after the plateau and frankly my personal opinion is that people quit trying b/c the weight they've lost is "good enough" for them. I think everyone has the potential to lsoe all the weight but when they speak statistics they have to factor in everyone with the band - which means they will factor in people who have to get the band taken out due to a complication and they don't lose all the weight, and people who never get a fill b/c they have refulx so they never lose all the weight, and people like some people I've seen at my docs office who just don't try! For example, one woman I saw in the waiting room sais she didn't do the pre-op diet b/c she "didn't feel like it" and ate fajitas and margaritas the night before surgery - I'm sorry but if you have no self control the friggin' night before surgery you probably won't be as sucessful. Then also take the 2 other women who had surgery tha same day as me. One said she refused to give up oreos and chocolate milk, and the other said the only protein shakes she would drink was Boost b/c she liked the taste (HELLO FULL OF SUGAR!!!!) and she said that losing 1/2 the weight was "good enough" for her. May I also mention that I had to pay for my own band yet these people had Medicaid pay for it! Tax dollars hard at work right??? Anyways, when you look at statistics they factor in EVERYONE - and I don't worry b/c I know I don't need chocolate milk and oreos, I do exersize, I can follow my docs instructions, I will get fills, etc so I believe in my heart I can lose 100% and all I need is that faith in myself - not statistics!
  3. And of course Kirstie Alley and Anna Nicole and other celebs would never admit to being banded - they would lose all thier endorsement deal money!!!
  4. There's probably alot of famous people who can afford the makeup and scar creams we can't.
  5. I think the bite was too big b/c it was only the 4th bite so I wasn't too full or anything. Anyways, I don't know why I didn't have slimes but I do know something didn't feel right and I am doing liquids today. I feel better this morning but a bit of nausea. I'm just so scared of this thing slipping! I can't afford a slip repair!!!
  6. Tonight I think I got stuck for the 1st time. I was eating some mashed up meatloaf and mashed potatoes and one bite seemed to go down weird and ever since then I've felt tightness in my chest and somewhat of the "golfball" feeling and a sore throat. But I didn't get any slimes. Can you get stuck and not have slimes? I am so paranoid about slippage that I just had to ask this question. Anyways, I am going to go all liquid tomorrow for sure!
  7. I did mine by what the BMI chart says and what I weighed when I was 17!
  8. Also, artificial sweetner is not good b/c it leads to even more sugar cravings!
  9. I have severe anxiety disorder and panic attacks althought it is mostly controlled by zoloft nowdays. However, my anxiety mostly stems around medical issues (thinking I'm going to have a heart attack, afraid to take medicine, afraid of having a reaction, afraid of dying, etc) and I would say I am alot more paranoid than most people on here which is why I post all the time and am afraid of slippage and stuff, but all in all I've done ok so far with the band. I can't feel the band, but I can feel the port and it makes me kind of nervous but I'm doing ok. I was scared so bad of the anesthsia - but I forced myself to do it and so far no regrets. I understand your fears and all I can say is that zoloft has been a godsend for me!
  10. I've heard that the bypass could be reversed b/c thoeretically they can staple back the part of the stomach they cut away that is essentially just floating there. But I have never heard of anyone getting it reversed. I also wonder if it really is possible b/c you would think that part of the stomach that was cut away would die without active blood vessels and active use. Anwyays, it creeps me out- the thought of having an unused part of organ just hanging out in your body!
  11. Thanks. Does a cup of mushies sound like way more than a bandster 17 days out should be able to eat? I just want to make sure I'm not eating too much - but I do stop when I'm full and I never eat more than a cup or so.
  12. I know I am being a worry-wart but whoever it was that said her friend had a slippage on the mushies when she ate chicken scared the heck out of me. Every meal I can eat more and more and I think it's b/c the swelling is going down. I can eat about a cup of food at a time now. But then after I read that post I started worrying that maybe I've slipped. How do you know if there is a slip and how do they fix it?
  13. I know some people with GB that are happy as heck and look great and haven't gained back an ounce so I can't say what happens to "everyone" - I just know that I didn't want to be cut and re-routed! Anyways, I don't know why they say that about feeling hungry - I am only 16 days out but I hardly feel hungry and when I do I eat a little bit and I feel full!
  14. That helps alot. I know I am weeks away from a fill and I am healing and all that but I just don't want to end up being one of those people who puts off getting a fill when they need it.
  15. I have no answer for this but WHOO HOO on your weight loss so far! You're doing awesome!!!!
  16. I know I can't get a fill for 4 more weeks, I was just confused on the term "restriction"
  17. I heard that about pre-fills, but is restriction the amount you can eat or is restriction on how you eat (slow, chew well, etc) b/c I can gulp down food but I can only eat a small amount so do I fill or not?
  18. I guess the whining helped b/c the scale was down 2 lbs this morning!
  19. I am confused on "restriction" - my doc says get a fill when I no longer have restriction. But what exactly does this mean - restriction as to how much I can it, or how well I can eat? I'm only 2 weeks out and I can eat big bites and not even chew that much (I'm on mushies) and I can eat fast, but I an't eat a large amount so am I restricted or not?
  20. Happy B-day! I know how you feel b/c the way my family and my husband's family are all close (distance wise) we end up having to go to like 3 dinners at Thanksgiving and Christmas. This will be my 1st year to do it with a band and I am going to try what my nutrition class teacher said which is to pick only 3 things to eat at the dinner instead of trying to taste everything that way you will have smaller amount of the things you REALLY want. And then she said for dessert to just have 2 bites b/c statstically it only takes 2 bites to satisfy the sweet tooth! Good luck!
  21. I had similar thoughts last night - I went to a Casino party and the food was cheese cubes, fried chicken, sausage weenies, fried southwest eggrolls, mini beef sanwhiches w/ white bread, and chips and salsa. There was NOTHING mushy and NOTHING healthy! I just downed water after water until I could get out of there and get something to eat. So you can tell yourself "I don't need to eat here b/c I am going to eat as soon as I leave" and that helps more than just feeling like you can't eat at all! Aldo, having a protein shake before you go to something like that can help - or stick a canned one in your purse and take it with you! Anywas, good luck w/ your plan and I have a feeling you will do great!
  22. Nothing - I'm just a being a baby and I'll get over it! I am however, thankful for the 14 pounds I've lost!
  23. Don't worry about endoscopy - I had one and they knocked me out - I didn't feel a thing. I just woke up and told my DH to get me some mac and cheese - haha!
  24. Ok, I lost 14 pounds in the 5-6 days after my surgery and now it's day 14 and no more loss. Spare me the "it's time for healing not losing" and what not b/c I KNOW that!!! But knowing that doesn't make me feel better b/c I spent 12,600 bucks on this band and everyone on here makes it sound like you lose most weight in the 1st 6 months, etc. I am just annoyed and I know it's "to be expected" but it's still annoying!!!!
  25. You *should* avoid it b/c of "cheap calories" and the carbonation but you can have it if you want.
