  1. Water and protein shakes go right thru - no problem - I'm worried that I'm drinking too much if I sip all day!
  2. I am really thirtsy and I am trying to sip sip sip on a one ounce cup of water. I just don't want to get dehydrated.
  3. So, I know alot of people have problems with "bread" but does this mean all bread or just doughy bread? What about sandwich bread? toatsed bread? donuts? tortillas? I mean is is all "bread products" or just eating a big roll? Will I ever be able to eat a sandwich or egg mcmuffin again, or do I just have to avoid a roll?
  4. My doc says I can have caronation after I am 4 weeks out, but I am going to try to get off of it. I say if you need a diet coke after you're healed have one but just try not to drink like 5 a day! Pre-surgery I cut down to 1/2 a diet soda a day.
  5. I didn't have one unless it was in and out while I was asleep. They had me up and doing my barium swallow IMMEDIATELY after I woke up and by 1 o'clock (after having surgery at 8:30am) I felt more comfty standing up than laying down!
  6. everyone is telling me to sip sip sip but my doctors say one ounce every 15 minutes but I am only up for like 30 minutes at once b/c I'm still so tired. I am scared I'm drinking too little or too much! What do I do?
  7. Hey Girl! Sounds like the band gods were smiling on both of us today! I'm realy sore on the side when walking but other than that I'm doing ok!
  8. One more ? - I got the smallest band - I am worried that it will be too tight when I have a baby. The doctor seemed really happy the smallest band fit though - he was less worried about slippage.
  9. Also, I don't feel at all like I need to burp or fart - when does this start?
  10. Had surgery this morning. I feel ok. I can sleep just fine - as long as I get in a comfortable spot and don't move I'm fine. The hydrocodone probably helps too! I have a bit of shoulder pain but other than that I just feel a terrible pain in my side when I get up and down. I am sipping water and protein shakes (1 ounce of each) and walking 2 minutes or so everytimg I wake up from this constant napping. Is this ok? Is the side pain normal? It feels like a sore muscle but maybe it's gas? I love you guys so much - I could never have done this without ya'll and your support! I keep waiting to feel awful but I don't yet. If my recovery stays like this it'll be a breeze. I never would have imagined I'd be feeling as ok as I do! But I do just want to make sure the I-just-ran-5-miles-type of side pain is normal.
  11. I can't belive how ok I feel - a little sore but really just fine. I'm schocked I just had surgery this morning! I am sipping on a protein shake everytime I wake up from napping and doing a little walking lap around the house. It's scaring me how ok I feel - I keep waiting to feel awful (hopefully I never will)!
  12. Thanks, I actually feel pretty good and I just got home!
  13. A drowsy bandster, but a bandster indeed. Just got home from surgery. Wasn't too bad at all. I can't feel the band at all and liquids are going down just like they always did!
  14. I'm off to get banded - I'll be back soon to whine and moan about the pain! Love you guys!
  15. I got Isopure vanilla at GNC - 50 grams of protein per serving and oh so yummy!
  16. Happy Birthday Miss Thing! You rock!
  17. Ok, I will be getting my band 24 hours from now! I'm so scared! I've never had surgery before! Only a twilight sleep - never had a general. I'm going to try to be calm today. Pray for me! I'll write as soon as I feel up to it!
  18. I think I'm having too much milk. I will try soy. Does anyone reccomend a good brand of soy milk?
  19. This pre-op liquid diet is now giving me diarreha. Is this normal? Sorry to be gross but I count on you guys for advice and reassurance!
  20. I have my band surgery on friday and I read that "funeral" post and I am freaking out! Then I read about other people dying on the web, If that funeral post isn't true .... well, I just don't know what to say about why someone would do that. I know it's normal to be scared but I am freaking out now! I am 26 - way too young to die!
  21. Ok, since there is so much daily discussion on who can eat what when... let's all post our doctor's protocol here. We all know we should DO what OUR doctor tells us, but for all the curious minds (like me) let's just see what everyone's doctors are saying. My doc's protocol: 1 week of liquids pre-op (it says if unable to adhere to this pre-op I can have 1 small meal per day) 1 week of liquids post-op mushies for week 2 and 3 post-op then slowly add "normal food" He says liquids include "juice, Water, cream Soups, milkshakes, Protein shakes" No carbonation for one month after surgery. (some docs say no carbonation EVER but mine says just for one month) Mushies is anything of a mushed pulp consistency.
  22. I know I know - I just cheated the one time w/ the tiny little salad! Today it's been all protein shakes!
  23. Well, even my pre-op instructions from my doc say "if unable to adhere to diet have one small meal" - didn't even say low fat but I kept it low fat!
  24. Teresa - Thanks for that list - I did read that. But what I was referring to is the list my doctor gave me. It just makes no sense to me why some things are "liquids" and others are "food", but I will stick to the list! Yesterday I was SO SO hungy that I ate a small salad so I cheated a little but I remembers what you all said which is if you have to cheat pre-op make sure it's small and lowfat.
  25. I have my surgery on Friday whoo hoo! I am on a liquid diet 1 week pre-op and 1 week post-op and then 2 weeks of mushies. It says "creamy soups, protein shakes, jello" are all part of liquid diet. So, is it ok if I mix 1 scoop of sugar free fat free ice cream and skim milk into my protein shakes? I fail to see the difference b/w liquid and food if things like milk and jello and soup are "liquids"!!! I just want to make sure I'm doing everything right.
