  1. I was banded on Sept 30th and haven't lost any weight since the week after surgery - I want a fill right now!!!
  2. I'm 4 1/2 weeks out and I still have sore muscle around my port but my doc says it's normal and nothing to worry about - mine did get as swollen as golf ball size at one point but it finally went down!
  3. Ok, I can eat 2 peices of pizza and about 1 1/2 cup food at a time - I guess I need a fill as soon as I can get one!
  4. we always had a block party in someones garage and bobbed for apples and played games and everyone got a prize for something costume related ,,, like "cutest princess", "scariest ghost" etc
  5. Nice to meet ya lurker! Good luck!
  6. I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy under twilight sleep but other than that the band was my 1st actual surgery. I know major surgery is a big deal, but I didn't really think it was any big deal - I mean it only took 45 minutes, I was home by 2 pm, etc.
  7. I just had 3 pieces of Halloween candy make there way down my throat. There must be somthing in the air!!! Somebody smack me!
  8. Thanks for the comments - especially the legal analysis from Ira - that made me laugh out loud! Basically I know not to beat myself up too bad for one slip up but I know that the holidays are right around the corner and there will be alot of these parties and I need a plan to avoid snacking all through the party. I am going to try to just get one plate and eat it all at once instead of snacking all night. Then I will likely stay full and act as a "reasonable prudent" bandster!
  9. Oh lord, this is embarassing,,, but that Subway story reminded me that one time I went to Quiznos and I couldn't decide b/w 2 sandwiches so I decided to get a small one of each and I actually went to the lengths of writing it down a peice of paper so I could read it off to look as if I was ordering for 2 people! I make a promise here and now that I will not ever do any of these things again. I will proud of the 15 pounds I have lost so far, and I will know that I will keep losing and I will not be that person that does all of the above (which trust me, there is not much on this list I haven't done before). Thanks to everyone for sharing - I think sharing this info really helped us all to know we aren't alone, to encourage us all to change our ways, and helped us all "face the truth, come to Jesus, etc" with ourselves!
  10. I went to a campaign kick-off party tonight and it is so hard to follow the band rules with snacky/finger food. I ended up eating 1 stuffed mushroom, 1 cookie, 1 mini piece of pizza, 1 chicken on a stick thingee, 1 potsticker, 1 slice of a rollup thing, 1 artichoke thingee, 1 carrot stick w/ dip, 1 bite of hummus, and I came home and ate 2 mini candy bars b/c I never got satisfied and full like I would have if I had just sat down and ate a regular meal. That is SO much more than I could eat at one meal but b/c I was just mingling and nibbling for 3 hours of this party I ended up eating way too much and never feeling full. How do you handle it when you are at something like this where there is no "real" food, just a bunch of snacks and nowhere to sit down and eat. I obviously need to get a grip on this situation before going into the holiday season!
  11. I was wondering the opposite - how do I get LBT to stop sending me emails. I check this site all the time so I dont need the emails.
  12. Sometime I still get a bit lightheaded but a swig of gatorade fixes that. Another thing I learned once that I can't do b/c I have reflux, but if you mix a tiny bit of orange juice w/ water if it will keep your blood sugar elevated and steady all day.
  13. I'm eating pizza right now - but just one peice and thin crust!
  14. I don't know why this thread makes me laugh so much, b/c really it is sad .... but it is good that we are all admitting these secrets. I don't know about ya'll but admitting this stuff makes me FACE THE TRUTH and makes me want to change these ways even more! This thread has really helped me (even more) to feel like I have people here on LBT that understand what it's like to be a fat person, to have food control you, to be embarrased, etc. I am so happy that I have my band and that I have you guys as a support network. If I ever catch myself doing any of these things again I am going to think of this thread and remember that I am a new person now and I don't need to do these things! Anyways, thought of a few more: - pretending I was out of money when shopping with friends (didn't want to admit I couldn't fit in the sizes at the normal stores they shopped at) - when I was in high school I would get fast food when I got out of school at 4 and eat it and throw the wrapper in a neighbor's trash bin so my parents wouldn't get mad that I ate before dinner - make sweets for the "office" just because I wanted them - I have gone through a drive thru with my dogs and pretended that extra burger or extra taco was for them - cut 1/2 inch off the top of my jeans to have more room and just ignore that they kept getting tighter b/c I had gained weight
  15. I've totally done the order an extra drink thing and when I was single I would get 2 pizzas b/c I wanted two flavors and I would yell "honey, pizza's here" before opening the door. I have also hidden fast food in my purse or hidden the wrappers in my purse and thrown them away in an out of the way trash can. I guess this thread is liberating b/c we are not alone, and we will all fight this demon together!
  16. A friend and I were discussing what things we had done because we were ashamed of our weight and eating habits. Hopefully I'll never do any of these now that I am banded! Anyways, here's a few of mine to start out: 1. Shopped at Lane Bryant and turned the bag inside out so I didn't have to carry the bad around the mall and have everyone know I was plus size (like they can't tell anyways.....) 2. Order fast food to take home or to the office and get more and eat it in the car and throw away the wrapper so when you get to home or office it looks like you are only eating a "normal" amount. 3. trying to be really quiet when opening the fridge or a wrapper so noone will hear 4. cut the labels out of all of my clothes out of fear a tag would stick out accidentally and people would see how fat I really am!
  17. I have a comment about Curves. I was a member there and I think the money would be better spent at a regular gym. My reasoning is that your body gets used to the Curves routine (which never changes) and you don't push yourself further so it doesn't work to lose weight or tone after awhile when your body gets used to it. Just my opinion and experience. It's great to initially tone up but if you go faithfully it won't take a whole year to tone up (which is what they make you sign up for).
  18. So, last night, me and the DH were watching Amityville and the more scared I got, the more my band was giving me the "creeping in my chest" feeling I get when I eat too fast. It was funny b/c it was hours after I'd eaten and I had eaten really slow and felt fine, so I am convinced that my band was just reacting to the tenseness of my body from being scared. I guess it makes sense b/c the band is sewn to muscle and if you get scared your muscles tense up. Anyways, it was kind of funny!
  19. I totally understand - I guess I was just confused on why a doctor would do that though. Good luck!!
  20. By the way I couldn't help but notice you only have 29 lbs to go -- I am wondering why someone who only needs to lose 29 lbs got banded?! Just curious.
  21. I only get that pain when I eat too fast. Also, my doc says 99% of people have no restriction before the fill. I eat 1- 1 1/2 cups of food at dinner. (not so much at breakfast or lunch b/c my band is "looser" at night. Don't woryy yet - you're in the akward healing stage but once you heal and begin eating real food it will probably work itself out. Just go SLOW!
  22. It's a funny thing! So I learned last night that the 6 weeks of not drinking before and after my surgery apparently brought my tolerance DOWN! I was toast after 1 1/2 drinks - I mean you would not have wanted to be in public with me! Next time I go out I'll try 1/2 a drink at tops!

I think what Vines said is right. After I eat I feel FULL but not sick or anything. Jack reminded me that full is not the same as "full after Christmas dinner full". I eat anywhere from 3/4 - 1 1/4 cups of food and I feel the need to stop and feel satisfied until the next meal.
  24. see thread called "how many calories did you eat" to see more thoughts on this.
  25. Haha, that's hilarious! Well, I guess you can get sex by going to a bar and going home with the unattractive drunk man who is slobbering on himself --- and I wonder why my DH's single friends complain they can't get a woman when they drink themselved into oblivion and act like total asses! So, I'd stick with the toys! Haha!
