  1. I'm not preggo,,, where is my period?!?!?! It's getting expensive taking all these pregnancy tests to put my mind at ease. I know alot of you said you didn't get your monthly visitor for 1-2 months after surgery but it's been 3 months and I want it to come back so I can quit worrying about it!!!!
  2. did they do a flouro to make sure you hgavent slipped?
  3. ***** Caution: This thread may be under surveillance by President Bush!
  4. 1. How difficult did you find the pre-op diet? My doc said do one week of liquids but if I HAD to eat I could have one small meal per day - I found that it wasn't too hard if I ate a protein shake for breakfast, some blended liquid soup for lunch, a light meal at about 4 pm, and maybe another shake or soup at 8 or so. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Some people way way way cheat, but I felt like it was easier not to cheat by allowing myself that one healthy meal per day. 2. I have had 3 cesareans and my gallbladder laproscopically removed. Does anyone know how the pain and/or recovery is in comparison? I had never had surgery before my LB, but the paid wasn't too bad. The 1st few days I felt pain, but 3 days after surgery I went to work for 1/2 day. 3. Now this is one I really haven't seen at all and am a bit shy to ask, but it's better to ask now then end up in the ER. How soon can one umm hmmm be intimate and are you limited in well you know <WHISPERS>positions? I waited about 1 week to do no frills stuff - after 2 weeks, no problems doing it any which way. 4. After going on solids, is there a weight gain? I plan on eating only healthy (low carbs) on the liquid and solid stages and fear that once I go on solids I may actually gain weight. Should I jus eat whatever I can tolerate on liquids and solids and worry about losing the weight and low carbing after I go on solids? I did gain back a few lbs after going back on solids, maybe 3 lbs. I'm a slow loser. It's good to know and expect that you will gain back a few at 1st b/c it's discouraging but it's totally normal. Also, some people need several fills before they can lose any at all. It can get frustrating but just remember that maintining some weight loss is better than gaining, and that MANY people require seevral fills before they lose.6. For some reason it is very easy for me to lose 40lbs (after each of my 3 pregnancies I have lost all of my pregnacy weight which has been 40-45lbs within 2 weeks after delivery AND each time I have done Atkins I have lost 40lbs and then I stall). Do people stall on this and if they do and it has nothing to do with the restriction, how can you tweak your program to break the stall? Or is it a matter of just being patient and waiting it out? Can't help you on this one - I'm at a stall right now. I'm hoping adding more exersize will help, but haven't gotten off my lazy ass yet to try it! Welcome to bandland and good luck!
  5. I still take huge bites and then jsut hold them in my cheeks and chew bits of the bite at a time before I swallow - its pretty disgucting actually. I amn trying to take smaller bites!
  6. sounds scary! I woulnd't worry about what they say about the hospital - trust your gut! Plus, I think a hospital is probably safer than a surgery center b/c they have defribulators and stuff.
  7. COngrats! My doc says people often get pregnant b/c they lose weight, they look sexier, more sex... hahaha
  8. I just did it - I wonder if they really send the $$$. Anyone could go on there and lie, ya know!
  9. I try not too whine too much to but sometimes I just have to! ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
  10. ok, now I don't want tater tots ever again thanks to the PB AND Jack's desciption - I will remember that if I ever think about ordering them again. Now tell me how gross ice cream is so i can give that up LOL
  11. sounds like me after surgery - you're doing great!
  12. I feel like everytime I eat I am worried that my band slipped. Like, just now, I ate lunch and I worried about my band slipping b/c one of the signs is being able to eat alot of food right,,,,,, well, it's funny how now that I'm banded I think eating 1/3 a peice of pizza and 3 chicken wings is a VAST amount of food!!!! Then I have a reality check and tell myself I haven't slipped b/c that really is hardly any food!!! I'm crazy.
  13. Hey everyone, I am happy I got my band, and I am happy about the weight I have lost, etc etc etc,,,,, but I have been at a 9 week stall since 2 weeks after surgery. I am so frustrated b/c I have been filled up twice and with each fill I had hopes of losing and I'm not losing anymore. I don't understand why - I'm counting calories, I'm eating pretty decently, I am eating 1/3 of the food I ate pre-band. I know some people are just turtles and I will probably be a turtle, but it makes me want to cry sometimes b/c I just don't understand how someone can cut thier calorie intake by 2/3 and not lose weight. Fitday.com said I needed to eat 1200 calories per day to lose and I am doing that. I am going to get filled again after the holidays but I kind of feel like "what is the point" when cutting out calories isn't doing anything for me! It's just so hard when other people who got banded when I did have lost 40 lbs already. I'm depressed.
  14. while the ressearch on DS seems to have great results, its not as popular due to the high death rate - higher than GB and much higher than LB
  15. So far I have PB'd 3 times and 2 out of the 3 was on tater tots so I won't be doing any tater tots ever again! It's still so weird to me that some things are fine and others aren't - I could eat a ton of cheetos but one tater tot and it's PB city!
  16. I would gain the weight. I had a BMI of 88 and I qualified for self-pay. But if I had insurance I'd gain the weight probably. My friends mom and her friend didn't quite qualify for GB 5 years ago so they wore weight belts to the doctor for weigh in and noone ever knew!!
  17. So many people are discouraged by this site and everyone problems so this is a poll to see if despite all the complaints/problems/etc overall are people happy with thier band.
  18. I've heard that dairy can help you lose weight and I've heard it can make you gain weight. I'm just curious what other think/notice/heard b/c since I can't drink soda now that I'm banded I seem to have replaced that soda with chocolate skim milk made with the sugar free choco syrup.
  19. Yeah! They let me join the turtle club! Not happy about being a turtle, but at least I get an exclusive club membership out of it! Anyways, here's my NSV's so far: 1. I feel in control of food, not vice versa, for the 1st time in my life. 2. My clothes are looser. 3. I've been exersizing more than pre-band (not hardly enough but some is better than none) 4. I haven't binged since I got banded. 5. It's easier to count calories now that what I eat is actually ONE serving size. 6. I do think I look a bit better. 7. I don't have anymore acid reflux or stomach sickness episodes since my doc fixed my hiatal hernia while getting banded. 8. When my DH rubs my back he says he can feel bones in there now! 9. I don't bake and cook stuff that is just around to eat anymore b/c I know it will just go to waste since I can't hardly eat anything anymore. 10. I've had things like ice cream in the freezer for WEEKS! I used to just eat that stuff if it was around. Now I never have room for ice cream after dinner, and I used to eat ice cream after dinner every night. 11. I don't get out-of-breath as much or as easily as I did before my band. That's it for now!
  20. How and where do I start a NSV thread and link to it?
  21. I have a lab/whippet mix named Kaliber, a pit bull named Isis, a pit bull mix named Godiva, a fat tabby cat (she needs a Cat Band) named Jesper, a fish tank inside, and a pond in my backyard with goldfish, koi, snails, and a crawdad. My pets are a huge part of my support system. They made me get out of bed to feed them etc after my surgery! If it weren't for the encouragement of my dogs and my DH I wouldn't walk for exersize like I do now!
  22. Last night and today I have had tons of little tiny burps over and over after I eat. Last night it went on for hours after dinner, and today I ate lunch and same thing now. Could it be because I have a cold and can't breathe thru my nose so I'm breathing lots of air into my stomach? Has anyone has this problem with tiny burps for hours after you eat?
  23. Please let me join the club! I am about to rip my hair out and I need this club!!! I think some of that 17 lbs may have come off in the one week pre-op liquid diet so I think I meet the criteria and I need support!
