  1. I've never had any that wasn't cooked soft. It sounds yummy! Wow, it's low fat and high in Fiber too!
  2. I usually just have a Protein shake because I am pretty tight in the mornings. If you are able to eat in the mornings, I would suggest that you eat something solid. I think it would stay with you longer than a shake would. I posted this recipe today and it would be perfect for Breakfast. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f82/crust-less-spinach-quiche-49727/ If you made it in the muffins tins, it would already be the perfect serving size. I don't know what kind of plan you are following but if you are counting calories instead of doing low carb, you could always use reduced fat cheese or even use less cheese than it's called for.
  3. Hi, I have PCOS too. I was banded 9-20-07 and I have lost 55 lbs. It seems like it just melted off the first couple of months and then slowed down to almost nothing. I haven't hardly lost a pound in over a month. I hope this is just a plateau that will pass soon. I just started taking Actos plus Metformin and I am hoping that will help the weight loss too. I think it is going to be harder for us to loose weight and the key is going to be exercise. I hate to exercise, I literally have to make myself do it. I hope that gets easier as more weight comes off. You should check out the thread that Renewedhope mentioned above. There is one very inspiring lady that lost over 100% of her excess weight and her PCOS symptoms are so much better.
  4. Hi Whimsy It took 6 years of trying before I was able to get pregnant. I can tell you from experience that losing weight will help. I lost about 50 lbs prior to getting pregnant and I know that had a lot to do with it. Of course I gained it all back but I have a handsome son to show for it. How long have you been taking Actos plus Metformin? Have you seen a difference since you began taking it?
  5. Wow, what an accomplishment!!! I hope to be there some day!
  6. You could also add a little bit of crumbled bacon to this and it would be good. It's a little high in fat, but if you are strictly doing low carb, it would work.
  7. This is perfect for those who are trying to watch the carbs and it is soooo gooooood! INGREDIENTS 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1 onion, chopped 1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained 5 eggs, beaten 3 cups shredded Muenster cheese 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper DIRECTIONS Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9 inch pie pan. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are soft. Stir in spinach and continue cooking until excess moisture has evaporated. In a large bowl, combine eggs, cheese, salt and pepper. Add spinach mixture and stir to blend. Scoop into prepared pie pan. Bake in preheated oven until eggs have set, about 30 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Instead of one large quiche, I pour the mixture into the bottoms of a greased muffin pan, a little less than half full. It makes bite sized portions that are perfect for a party. Easy and delicious. Oh, I use whatever shredded cheese is on sale at the store.
  8. Okay, so here's what I ate today Breakfast: Low carb Protein shake Lunch: 2/3 cup pumpkin chili Snack: 4 saltine crackers and 1 wedge of laughing cow light cheese Dinner: Low carb Protein Shake I plan to have a cup of chai tea before I go to bed. Exercise for today: 15 minutes of aerobics (Denise Austin's daily workout) 3 minutes of jump roping 15 minutes of light weight lifting Okay girls, I did good today........I just hope I can keep it up!
  9. What time does everyone get off of work? I guess we'll go by the latest time and then allow driving time.
  10. They want me to start taking 250 mg of DHEA Vitamin. I've only been able to find 50mg pills, I would have to take 5 pills a day to equal 250 mg. I already have to cut another pill into 4 pieces so I can swallow it. I think I'll search the net and see if I can find a stronger dosage. I've heard that the vitamin can help you lose weight, so I hope it does. I'm also taking Actos plus Metformin for PCOS and it is supposed to help with weight loss too. I definitely haven't been exercising enough either. Today I did an aerobics workout for 15 minutes and I plan to do the elliptical and some light weight lifting tonight. I just hope I get some energy soon!
  11. I was thinking........maybe it would help us stay on track if we posted what we ate and our exercise for the day. That way we are held accountable for what we do. I think after I eat dinner, I'll post what ate for the day and my exercise routine. That way, if something isn't working for us, we can suggest other options.
  12. I know exactly what you mean about the sweet tea! I'm from South Georgia and sweet tea is BIG here. I've also been having to drink cranberry juice due to a kidney infection and it is loaded with calories and sugar. I have a couple of more days to drink it, then it's back to no calorie drinks.........basically water! I have a HealthOmeter scale that I got at walmart HealthoMeter Body Fat & Body Water Fitness Tracking Scale - Wal-Mart I love this scale, it tracks up to 4 peoples fitness goals.
  13. Thanks for the encouragement Kudo! Allykat, It will be worth the wait! I t definitely may speed things up if you could get those appt taken care of. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
  14. You guys have some great NSV's. It's very inspiring to read these.
  15. Hey Hazeleyegrl! Thanks for getting this challenge started, I think it's just what I needed. Maybe after this one, we can come up with an easter related challenge. I was watching Oprah the other day, and there was a woman that lost over 200 pounds on there. She said that just kept setting mini goals through the whole process. It makes sense to me and seems so much easier than just setting one big goal. I was banded 9-20-07. I lost weight really fast in the begining, but I've hit a plateau and haven't lost hardly anything in a month! I know I really need to bump up the exercise and stop my late night snacking. Let's do this!
  16. Fairy Facade I love edamame too! Lately I've been eating a frozen mixed vegetable steamer pack with edamame, black beans, carrots, and sugar snap peas. It is so good. Where did you order yours from?
  17. Allykat Wow, that does seem like a good price on the fills. I've heard many people say their docs charge around $200. I'm glad your seminar went well. Did you get all your questions answers and are you ready to begin this process?
  18. Hey everyone Is Feb. 7th still okay with everyone to meet? Is Ruby Tuesday in Tifton good for everyone? Feel free to let me know if anyone wants to go somewhere else.
  19. I made this for dinner tonight and it was soooo good! 6 or 7 Roma tomatoes Sun Dried Tomato vinaigrette or Italian dressing (I used the vinaigrette) Parmesan cheese Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil. Slice the tomatoes about 1/4 inch thick and line on cookie sheet in a single layer. Baste each tomato generously with the vinaigrette and sprinkle a little Parmesan cheese on each one. Bake for about 15 minutes. You could also put a little fresh chopped basil on top! If you love tomatoes, you will love this recipe!!!
  20. Hey Jeannie Things are going pretty good. I definitely feel more restriction than before. The eating part is going really good, but I just can't find the energy to exercise, I have been sooo tired lately. I found out the other day, from my endocrinologist, that my DHEA hormone levels are too low. That very well could be my problem. I looked it up online and apparently it can cause severe fatigue, muscle weakness, difficulty losing weight, mood swings and depression. That's just what I need. lol
  21. I'm in too. I need some kind of motivation to get me going in the right direction. It's going to be hard, but we can do it!
  22. I lost a lot of weight really fast to begin with. I probably lost over 20 lbs the first two weeks, but believe me, it has really slowed down. I've actually hit a plateau and haven't lost hardly anything in a month. It's so depressing, but hopefully it will pass soon.
  23. OMGosh, I have 3 shows I want to watch tonight: Biggest Loser, One Tree Hill, and AI. I only have 2 TV's that will record so it looks like I'm going to miss one of them.
  24. Hey allykat, we certainly don't mind you joining in. It's nice to meet you. I was fortunate in that I didn't have to wait long at all. Good luck at the seminar and I hope things move quickly for you. Have you met with the doctor yet?
  25. I'm doing great, 4jin! I was hoping you would have heard something by now, hang in there and hopefully you will know something soon. Have you tried calling them to speed up the process a little? I don't know if it would help but it might be worth a try. I've got my fingers crossed that hear soon!
